DRAKKENHEIM IS NO MORE... but that doesn't necessarily concern you.
While Westemär, one of three one of the three main powers on the continent, has been left without a leader for 15 years there are other problems that have arose as a result. The destruction of Drakkenheim by the meteorite 15 years ago caused a Civil War for succession that ultimately left the nation with no central power.
Westemär is at the forefront of the current conflicts, as Drakkenheim was its imperial capital. When the city was destroyed, King Ulrich IV and his immediate heirs were lost. They are presumed dead, but their ultimate fate is unknown. Festering divisions between the king’s two surviving siblings plunged the nation into a ten-year-long civil war. In a cruel twist of fate, the war led to the deaths of both the king’s siblings and their heirs. Today, the political order of Westemär lies in tatters. Lacking any clear claimant to the throne, nobles ruling its duchies and cities are quickly posturing to form their own petty kingdoms — or make a bid for the throne themselves. Meanwhile, the city of Drakkenheim is a desolate urban ruin, haunted by all manner of eldritch abominations, undead monstrosities, and otherworldly demons.
While the reclamation of Drakkenheim might be the only way to bring true stability to Westemär, assuming it is even possible, that future appears for the moment quite far away indeed.
So it is my hope to make a campaign set in the world of Drakkenheim but not specifically in the more well known campaign involving the city of Drakkenheim. Hoping for a small party which will allow me to focus on everyone more. Potential npc's, sidekicks and others joining the party at times depending. I hope to capture a more low fantasy to potential gothic story. I have information below to varying degrees depending on how interested someone is in making their character. Don't need to have watched the campaign on youtube to play this. I haven't even seen it. I'm just reading from the books and working off that. Depending on the potential characters, the party might already know each other.
What I am interested in over all in players is commitment to a game so long as you are having fun and good synergy between players. If you can do this, feel free to apply. That's what really matters. Where exactly we start might vary on the characters submitted and talked about. I want to potentially form a party that already knows each other to some extent which can affect how we will start the campaign. Whether it is everyone part of a noble family or knights/guards of that family or something else.
Feel free to apply with more then one character. Just have a decent bit of lore posted with each character. be it decent bullet points of sentences/paragraphs.
Four Quick Facts about the World of Drakkenheim
The gods are silent and distant. They don’t manifest physically nor speak with worshippers, and do not interfere in earthly matters. Planar cosmology is mysterious and unknowable, but sages have still developed many conflicting (and wildly incorrect) theories.
Divine spellcasting powers aren’t granted by gods. Instead, clerics, druids, and paladins tap into sacred energies through devotion, meditation, and resolve. Violating one’s religious tenets won’t result in a loss of this ability, but a crisis of faith might.
Individuals can’t become wizards through study alone. The arcane magic of both sorcerers and wizards alike is borne in the blood, which may be harnessed via practice and study. The laws of the land bar arcane spellcasters from holding noble titles.
High-level NPCs and spellcasters are exceptionally rare in the wider world. Despite their few numbers, such people still have a profound impact on society. However, Drakkenheim has attracted an uncommonly high concentration of such individuals.

Name: Alastor Harlock
Species: Human
Class/subclass: Fighter/Bulwark Warrior
Bio: A veteran of the Westemar Civil war, Alastor is often haunted by the memories of comrades giving their lives to protect him. Alastor fought on the side of Cecilia von Kessel, surviving numerous battles and skirmishes, eventually being assigned to her personal guard at the height of the war, his inability to protect Cecilia from her mysterious death was the final straw that broke him, as he deserted and fled, a treasonous act that should have led to his death, but with the nation weary from war, no one chased him. With the war ended with no clear victor, Alastor grappled with survivors guilt, as well as the dishonor of fleeing. Unable to stay in one place for long due to guilt and a fear that he’d be recognized, he took to a wandering vagabond lifestyle, traveling between villages with only the bare essentials, his old weapon and armor covered by ragged travelers clothes; looking for purpose, redemption, or perhaps just peace from the nightmares of his past.
Pic:
Name: Falanor
Species: Half-Elf
Class/subclass: Druid/Unbroken Circle
Bio: Falanor was stolen from his family as a child by druids of the old ways, foul worshipers of Kromac the Ravager with the intent of being made a blood sacrifice to appease his thrist. Picked for his elven heritage, Falanor was whisked far away from his family and brought to the deepest, darkest part of the forests of Westemar, saved from the sacrificial knife only by the intervention of another: a druid who followed Danu, Mother Earth, who oppsed these foul rights, who rescued Falanor and chased away the others. Unable to find his home again, due to being so young and so far away, Falanor was taken in by this solitary druid, who taught him to respect the land around him, to nurture it with care, and to take up righteous arms to defend it if necessary. As he got older, Falanor took to wandering: partially to help defend the forest, but mostly to try to find tge family he was stolen from years ago.

Name: Rexxar (The Magnificent)
Species: Dragonborne
Class/subclass: Wizard/Materialist
Bio: Eccentric, colorful, and manic to a point, Rexxar sees a beauty in magic that most people don’t (or can’t, cause it might not be there) and strives to show people that magic isn’t terrifying, but beautiful in its own way, though his enthusiasm often rubs people wrong. An artisan at heart hailing from Liberio, Rexxar understands fully well how mageborn are viewed across the world, and hopes to one day see that fear of the unknown banished from the land, showing how magic can bring about true wonders of the world. Due partially to upsetting the cities nobility with his idea of artistic expression (and partially due to an incident involving the Archmage Alabaster), Rexxar was assigned to a court advisory position for nobility to the north,.Rexxar can often be found painting, sculpting, carving, or disintegrating failed works of art, especially when he should be doing his job. More then anything, he’s constantly seeking inspiration for his next, big project, hoping that creating something so beautiful, it’ll open the eyes of the ignorant.
