Elydria is one of the most advanced magical nations in the known world. It is not futuristic through machinery or electricity, but through the everyday use of refined magic. 

Cities are lit by floating lanterns. Messages are sent through enchanted slates. Familiar couriers carry small goods and sealed notes across rooftops, and construct guards patrol important districts. Magical trams move citizens through the capital city, and tamed hippogriffs transport passengers, scouts, and messengers between towns. Portal gates exist, but they are expensive, regulated, and reserved for official, commercial, military, or emergency use.

Through its beauty and success, the land of Elydria seems perfect. Its major cities are powerful, proud and great. The capital shines brighter than anywhere else, but that light does not always reach the far edges of the nation.... And in those far edges, the blight has begun.
