Game style: We want roleplay focused, combat balanced, a story, just one table, plllleassee no westmarch style or something that requires 24/7 roleplay chat after games and stuff, hopefully long term, and welcomes character building creativity during set up and story. We want our backstories and char flaws and personalities to be worth writing a backstory as well. I like character growth in the party and players who like to roleplay their characters properly.

Hi Perdita! What you and your friend described sounds unusually close to the campaign I’m currently recruiting for.

The Burden of Fate’s Demand is a new, long-term D&D 5e homebrew campaign playing weekly on Fridays at 7:00 PM Central for approximately 3–4 hours. It is one consistent six-player table—not West Marches—and there is no expectation that players participate in constant roleplay chat between sessions.

The game is roleplay-heavy and character-driven, with mystery, supernatural horror, meaningful choices, creative problem-solving, and combat that serves the story rather than interrupting it. Character creation happens collaboratively during Session Zero, and the characters begin as ordinary people before gaining their classes and unusual powers. Because of that, personalities, flaws, relationships, backstories, and the ways the characters change together are all central to the campaign rather than decorative extras.

I want to be transparent that this is a paid campaign at $15 USD per player, per session, booked through StartPlaying. The campaign has not started yet, and there are currently four of six seats available, so there is room for both of you to join together.
