Game: D&D 5e or 5.5e Group preferred: Online Experience: Veteran Location/Timezone: NC, EST Time Zone Availability: Weekdays after 6 pm and Saturdays Preferred role: Player but can DM Game style: I like a good mix if everything
Howdy, I have plenty of experience playing DnD, not the biggest fan of the ruleset. I used to DM for multiple groups, I even did it professionally for awhile and for my local community like schools and such. I haven't really played in about a year or so due to some life changes but I am looking to get back into it. I want to start play for a little before I get back into being a DM.
I would perfer a group that's 18+, doesn't mind humor, and does fade to black romance/sexual moments. I don't really want to watch people roleplay out sexual desires. I love homebrew and would like to use mine if the DM is cool with it after looking it over but I'm down to play any role to fill in for a group. I perfer playing online, I have a laptop for DnD Beyond and my own discord server that was mostly used for DnD.
I work Monday-Friday 7 AM - 4 pm EST so I would prefer games on the weekend but I could do nightly games also. Weekly or biweekly games are preferred and I really am not interested in play by post games, sorry. I do get my daugher weekly so there will be some sessions she'll be present and some she won't be.
I’m currently recruiting for The Burden of Fate’s Demand, a new weekly D&D 5e campaign playing Fridays at 8:00 PM Eastern for approximately 3–4 hours. That appears to fit your stated weekday availability after 6:00 PM.
It is an original homebrew fantasy campaign built around supernatural mystery, horror, exploration, puzzles, consequential decisions, and character development. There is meaningful combat, but I want to be transparent that the campaign leans more heavily toward roleplay and story than a completely even combat/roleplay split. Combat is generally there because something important is happening, rather than simply to provide an encounter for the evening.
The campaign is 18+, allows humor and levity alongside its darker material, and your preference for keeping romantic or sexual material fade-to-black is compatible with the table’s approach. Player limits and boundaries are established through an anonymous survey, Session Zero, and ongoing safety tools.
Characters begin as ordinary people without classes and are created collaboratively during Session Zero. Their abilities emerge through the opening story. Creative and homebrew-inspired concepts are welcome, although I could not promise that prewritten homebrew mechanics would be accepted unchanged; we would look at the underlying concept together and make sure it fits the world, story, and party.
Your experience running for schools and community groups also stood out to me, since I have a teaching background and put significant emphasis on table facilitation, player inclusion, and helping everyone contribute to the shared story.
I also want to acknowledge clearly that this is a paid campaign through StartPlaying at $15 USD per player, per session. It has not started yet, and four of the six seats remain available.
You can read the full premise, review my GM profile and player feedback, message me with questions, or join here:
Since you enjoy homebrew worlds, are comfortable filling whatever role works for the party, and are specifically looking to reconnect with D&D as a player, I thought this was worth putting on your radar.
