I started playing during COVID and have been playing on and off since. I’m familiar with both 5e and 5.5e, but I’m definitely not an expert. I know the rules well enough to play, and occasionally well enough to confidently be wrong about them lol
I’m currently in a weekly Saturday night campaign, so I’m looking for something on any other night. Ideally, I’d like to start around 11 PM ET / 8 PM PT or later, though I can be somewhat flexible. Basically anything around or after 11pm EST works for me, doesn't matter if you're US west coast, mountain time, europe, or wherever. I just love a good game with good people.
I enjoy campaigns that take the story seriously but don’t take themselves too seriously. Rule of cool is what I've usually leaned towards in the past. Most of my experience also lies in the theater of the mind format but the times I've played with someone who took the time to create battle maps, it was just as fun. I can definitely get down with roleplay and love character development, combat, and making the occasional questionable decision for the sake of the bit.
Looking for a good group and a long-term campaign. I’m reliable, easygoing, and show up ready to play.
Feel free to reach out if you think I might be a good fit!
I’m running dragon of icespire peak on either Roll20 or dnd beyond, and I’d love for you to join! I’ve already got two other players, and it will mostly be theater of the mind. We plan to start around 7:45 pt, so it would definitely work with your schedule. We would play on tuesdays. If you’d be interested you can dm me on roll20 at my account there, user is finn. Message me you character concept and backstory!
wouldnt mind playing, but- my ADD is definitely gonna show, so- be aware i might zone out a bit, whether ingame or OOC.
also, i might as well show one of my character ideas i havent layed down yet, even if it, admittedly, is quite cumbersome. (though, feel free to reject it if you want, it may be a bit overwhelming, no doubt, especially since i wrote it in notepad and my writing "style"'s kinda scuffed, but anyway-)
*inhale* "literally just a pulmonoscorpius. (e.g, giant 28-inch scorpions from like 340-something MYA-). id imagine he’s excellent at snatching or munching down on bugs, has custom armor and tools (e.g some like- reinforced plates over vulnerable joints, leather or padded sections that flex between body segments, custom-fitted pincer guards, leg greaves that don't interfere with all 8 legs, a removable, lockable cap over the telson that can be quickly detached if combat actually calls for venom, custom saddlebags among other things for carrying such as utility pouches, rope and lantern hooks, waterskins, alchemy pouches, repair kits, grooming brushes and polishing cloths, etc. as for the saddlebags in particular, id imagine he's got a magically-attuned perpetually-warm massive rock multiple times his size in some like bag of holding he's got for one of his saddlebags to lie down on or curl on, not to mention fantasy whatever probably making him warm-blooded or at the very least able to comfortably survive in situations where normal cold-blooded creatures cant given fantasy/magic/dnd world lore handwavery-), etc. for the bugs part, s***’s like potato chips or other snacks for him I’d imagine, absolutely killer (literally) pest-controller that one- ... unsure how he'd breathe in the drastically different atmospheric composition of today though. not to mention food and whatnot. (though, im sure that with magic spells, stuff can at least temporarily, (such as until its fully passed through the system-) become edible or drinkable to noncompatible species. hell, there's some like- edibles or something that come with that spell precast or enchanted on them that're quite popular. (e.g, when you chew or digest them the spell activates until either 24-hours later, or when it's passed through the creature's system fully.)).
as for the pulmonoscorpius PC idea though, id imagine he's often leashed in a specialized harness by the party to prevent him from running off or terrifying locals, with special patches and a specialized, securable cap on his stinger/telson which locks into place as to avoid accidental stinging and allow for easier hugs, much like those foam pool tubes people put on horns of cattle and stuff to prevent accidental poking, as well as to make sure anyone that sees him, once the inevitable panic subsides, knows that he's friendly, a pet/domesticated, and a great pest-controller, given pulmonoscorpii often chowed down on carboniferous bugs as prey, even in OTL, of which is also helped by his vision, himself having 2 median eyes (the large pair on top of the carapace-), and 2 compound lateral ones on each side of his carapace, of which contain approximately around 60 individual ommatidia (those little eye units-) for roughly around 122 individual visual units total, (124 if we're counting the median ones-), even if in practice, it's just 4 in total by all means. though admittedly looking, well... like a giant, 28-inch (70cm) scorpion, (which admittedly doesn't exactly scream "approachable" if imma be real with ya-) straight out of some prehistoric nightmare, overall, he's never quite realized he's supposed to be, (and perceived as being-), scary. The pulmonoscorpius enjoys carapace scritches, warm sunny rocks, plain jerky, and accompanying others walks or travels, etc.
though undoubtedly freaky-looking to any unknowing spectators or passersby, he overall's quite friendly, social, and a very avid cuddler, especially given his massive pincers/claws, pedipalps, wraparound tail, and 8 legs. regular brushing, cleaning, and in general getting any dirt or other random crud out from between the armored joints of his' part of his routine, especially when and/or after taking into account the, well- DnD world he's in. honestly- usually though, you'll hear the clicking before you actually see him, whether that's from him walking around, readjusting himself, ambient and/or complimentary noises in conjunction with his speech and/or body language/a part of it, or just... him being a giant prehistoric scorpion, really. his body language is also quite domesticated in nature as well, with almost comical overexaggeration, given most humans, (and by extension other critters as well-), can't understand "scorpion". still, id imagine usually he doesnt do those things lest the party (or whoever might be willing) reminds him to, (which- id imagine that it's, well, a DnD party, would be quite hard to remember-).
id imagine, overall though, especially to even play as a PC, he's much more akin to that housepets-esc whatever discussed earlier. which is to say, they're fully sapient, can use tools (sometimes), capable of speech, and often partially anthropomorphic, (though the anthropomorphic/walking upright thing is exclusive to mammals), etc. realistically, id imagine the clicking's just a byproduct of him or when like dogs whimpering when excited/when people cant really think of the words to say stuff/dont and/or a VERY prominent part of his body language, the latter also applying when it comes to his tail and other appendages being very expressive and a part of said body language as well. all im imagining is him very easily making friends with dnd's giant scorpions or spiders, though still, id imagine he's overall quite hesitant when dealing with giant scorpions given them basically just being larger versions of himself and, roughly speaking, his kin. that, and other desert creepy-crawlies or dnd desert beasts/monsters and s***, as with other similar encounters and/or fantasy creatures he reasonably might enjoy or make friends with. ::3"
