We're a group of 6 players looking for a Dungeon Master to run an online D&D campaign.
We're all completely new to D&D, so we're hoping to find someone who's patient, experienced, and happy to guide us through the rules, character creation, and the overall experience. Our main goal is to have fun, learn the game properly, and enjoy a great story together.
Our group is spread across the UK and Norway, so we'll be playing online.
Availability
System: Dungeons & Dragons 5e
Day: Tuesdays
Time: Anytime between 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM BST (we're flexible within this window)
Campaign Preferences
We're not looking for any specific setting or style of campaign, but we'd be particularly interested in adventures inspired by or featuring themes such as:
Fantasy
Horror
Thriller / Mystery
Supernatural
Lord of the Rings
Stargate
We also would enjoy a nice balance of visual storytelling, combat and world building using apps or tools you think would be good!
That said, we're open to other ideas too, so if you have a campaign you think would be a good fit for a group of new players, we'd love to hear about it!
We're open to both free and paid DMs (as we're just starting out we are not looking for a crazy investment), so if you think you'd be a good fit, we'd love to hear from you! If possible, it'd be great if you could tell us a little about your DMing style, the type of campaign you have in mind, and whether you enjoy helping new players learn the game.
I can offer a new game designed around Ravenloft, (Horror and Mystery filled game) with session time being around 3 hours, so either from 5 to 8 PM or 6 to 9 PM for example. Main premise is exploring the new Domains of Dread, learning what is exactly making them and ultimately, how to escape them, before inevitably ending up in a different one.
I use roll20 as VTT as well as discord for voice chat and ambient music. Personally I also tend to lean more towards the exploration and roleplay part of DND, so those would take the priorty with something like 70/30, with remaining 30 being combat. I have been DM-ing for around 6 years at this point and qute a few of them are aimed towards new players, so I am more then willing to show the ropes.
Now that is all to say I do usually do paid games, but am willing to do a 1 session of character creation/lore setup and 2 sessions of a self contained story, for 20 USD per person and then if you feel like it, go for a more full campaign.
Hit me up on discord as I can respond more reliably there ! Discord - elemium
Howdy, i would like to throw my hat in the ring and potentially be a DM for your group. Tuesdays at 5 PM BST would work perfectly with my schedule and my application is below. Thank you for your groups consideration.
My DMing style is a mix of 60/40 roleplay to combat. I tend to follow the rules as written unless a player makes a good argument to toss them aside for that one epic moment in game. which with the right group could happen more often than not. I thrive in running Thriller/Mystery and horror style games; The Crooked Moon, Curse of Strahd, The Shattered Obelisk are all games i have run successfully in the past that fit that spooky-kooky vibe.
Some sessions leave you feeling like you got done having a grand old time solving a mystery with Scooby-Doo.. and others will have you saying "oh my stars and garters how did our characters survive".
I enjoy showing new players the ropes of D&D and having them at the table as they are the ones who are far less likely to power-game and look up the monsters weaknesses before session, and their sometimes a bit more creative in their solutions to solving a problem instead of just "i shoot my gun" I have had my share of players earn their spurs, either they go on to help the next generation of newbies in my games or they leave feeling confident enough run some of their own games with their friends.
Full transparency i do run Paid games, £14 per person per session played. But do offer everyone 4 games totally free just to ensure that the players are happy with the resources and fancy tools that i bring to the table.
If you are interested to learn more or at least curious to try me out feel free to add me on discord "makinfire"
Hey Vex, i could potentially aid you and the group depending on your timeframe avaibility and desires, i been running in this hobby for 25 years now, 10 of them professionally, i would be glad to discuss some more of what the group is after, and i have currently tuesdays as a slot available for the group, about price, i'm willing to juggle if you are willing to juggle time played, glad to provide price for what i work in hours. (:
I'm family with the 3 fandoms you mentioned and i been very keen in staring a lord of the rings game but i'm also avaiable, to run traditional D&D fantasyline story campaings, let me know if that is something you and the group would be interested in giving a go, hit me a DM and let's talk and see if i can help you guys out.
