Hey Folks,
I'm getting ready to start a new campaign with a few of my 'veteran' players. We have an open slot in what will be a five player table, so I'm hoping to meet and vibe check a few potential candidates.
But I guess first let me tell y'all about me as a DM. I'd been D&D adjacent most of my formative years and got into 5e during the Critical Role boom/Covid. I have to credit Matt Mercer for being an inspiration for my style of DM'ing in that I do want to play out all the minor interactions and story beats, but I also know that there's a certain flow to DM'ing and sessions, and my ultimate goal is just to make sure we're having fun with our time. I'm happy to work with people to make their characters more fun to play, or to explore narratives that require a bit more work both creatively and mechanically from me, but it's kind of a two-way street.
I'm not looking for the next streaming sensation, but do need players who want to participate and move the story and scene along. There are going to be sessions where we don't have combat, and I need folks who want to roleplay and skill check their way through that. That said, I'm still open to new players that want to try and learn how to play through sessions this way. Before this campaign I'm about to finish, my whole table was new including me, so very happy to help new players get their chance to learn and shine. So ya, as long as you're a chill and can jump into the roleplay, I think we'll get along fine. =)
I'm not going to add too much more for campaign details. We can get to that if it feels like a good fit. Let me know if you need anything clarified. We can also chat in DMs.
