Hey everyone, I’m Mat. I’ve been DMing since 2019 and I’m looking for two solid players to fill out a group of four.
Schedule: Sundays, 4:00–7:00 PM CST Platform: Roll20 + Discord (working mic/headphones and a computer are required)
We’re starting at level 1 with The Lost Mine of Phandelver and planning to continue into a longer campaign afterward (currently leaning toward something with darker tones). I’d prefer players who haven’t run through Lost Mine before so everyone can experience it fresh.
Table style: Roughly 60% roleplay / 40% combat. I enjoy meaningful character moments, exploration, and some darker fantasy elements. Looking for players who show up consistently, engage with the story, and play well with others.
Please answer the following if you’re interested:

How long have you been playing D&D?
Have you played Lost Mine of Phandelver before?
What kind of characters do you usually enjoy playing?
How important is roleplay vs combat for you?
Are you comfortable with darker / more mature themes?
How reliable is your Sunday availability long-term?
Anything else you’d like me to know about your play style or what you’re looking for in a game?
Looking forward to hearing from folks who want a steady, long-term table. Thanks!
Martials tend to be my go to most of the time. If your referring to style of play, I normally enjoy giveing my character a solid/detrimental flaw. (For example One character i made refused to lie in any regard)
Roleplay vs combat: As long as there is combat at least once every other session or so I am good.
I am fine with darker tones
I should be good every Sunday as my job is not open then.
How long have you been playing D&D? 4 years online, played 2nd ed as a teen
Have you played Lost Mine of Phandelver before? nope
What kind of characters do you usually enjoy playing? Rogue/wizard multi 5.5 rules (non lone wolf, non stealing from party)
How important is roleplay vs combat for you? Missing piece here is narrative, roleplay with no story or direction is just faffing around, combat with no stakes can be boring, roleplay is important and what makes ttrpg different that a computer game.
Are you comfortable with darker / more mature themes? fine
How reliable is your Sunday availability long-term? Great time for me
Anything else you’d like me to know about your play style or what you’re looking for in a game? I bite plot hooks, i'm interested in other players (even if sometimes i'm not actually) TTRPGs take a little work, sometimes you have to huzzah when you feel like meh. Chatting before and after sessions helps people feel like they belong.
D&D Beyond has a hard rule prohibiting us from stating our age, but to give you a hint, I started playing D&D in 1979. I am an adult.

Playing D&D since 1979. Most familiar with 2nd E and 3.5, but learning 5E. (I do not like 4E at all.)
Never played LMOP before.
I enjoy clerics and rogues the most, but enjoy trying new classes as well. Favor dwarves but am versatile.
I am comfortable with darker themes, but prefer to avoid focusing on abusive situations, especially with animals and children. (Its fine as part of the story, but I do not want to RP these types of things.)
I like RP, combat and story mixed. I tend not to enjoy straight up, never ending hack and slash.
My Sundays are completely open.
As an older player, I prefer a mature group. I've played with some younger folks who fear any sort of conflict and immediately ghost/ban players without any context or communication - this I prefer to avoid. I expect any group I join to care about the comfort of all involved, and to be open with communication.

How long have you been playing D&D? - ~6 years off & on (Pathfinder 1 & 5e)
Have you played Lost Mine of Phandelver before? - no
What kind of characters do you usually enjoy playing? - Varied - a grumpy old dwarf sorcerer, an abrasive human cleric (very low CHA), a standoff-ish elf shadow monk, a curious halfling druid. I like spellcasters (espcially control) and "interesting" martial characters (i.e. monks, paladins, eldritch knights).
How important is roleplay vs combat for you? - I enjoy combat, but I enjoy the problem solving and roleplaying more so for ttrpgs (i.e. the stuff you can't do via a video game)
Are you comfortable with darker / more mature themes? - Not sure what you mean by dark/mature themes exactly. I'm fine with it so long it's respectful & there's a mature group
How reliable is your Sunday availability long-term? - Free (have a commitment at 9pm est)
Anything else you’d like me to know about your play style or what you’re looking for in a game? - I like challenging scenarios (not afraid of character death, it's part of the game), but prefer to avoid killer/adversarial DMs. Been a while, looking to get back into TTRPGs. I like creative uses of spells/features, but not game breaking stuff
Looking for 2 reliable players – Sunday campaign (Lost Mine → longer campaign)
