Hi! I’m Alex, in my mid 20s, and I’ve been playing and running D&D for around 5 years!
I’m looking to run Undying Corruption, a folklore-focused adventure set in a world inspired by Korean mythology.
If I had to describe the tone, I’d call it a mix of Elden Ring, Totoro, and The Witcher.
You’ll play as Mudang, essentially wandering exorcists, mystics, and spirit mediums, travelling through cursed lands, bargaining with spirits, investigating hauntings, performing exorcisms, and slowly becoming tangled in a much larger conspiracy.
About Me as a DM
I love when players get invested in the world, get lost in completely senseless discussions, make plans I never anticipated, or when I get to use their backstories in the game!
More than anything, I want the game to be fun for all of us!
I generally stick fairly closely to the rules and use very little homebrew, but I’m happy to be flexible when bending something a little could lead to a great moment or story.
Speaking of which...
The Setting: Danguk
The island of Danguk was created by the gods as a divine experiment: a place where mortal souls could be reborn again and again, gradually moving toward enlightenment.
But when souls began refusing to move on, malevolent spirits spread across the land, and internal conflicts eventually tore the island apart.
After centuries of chaos and the rule of dragons, Danguk has now entered a golden age of magical progress.
Forgotten spiritual traditions are fading. Ancient grudges remain unresolved. And hidden injustices have been allowed to fester.
You belong to the Black Bear Clan, a group of spiritual workers.
You are outsiders looked down upon by much of society, yet desperately sought out whenever something goes wrong that priests, doctors, or soldiers cannot explain.
The Hook: The Spirit of the Swamps
Every night at midnight, she wakes... choking, gasping for breath that refuses to come.
They say they are mere nightmares.
But the servants whisper about a spirit, and about how her husband has started sleeping with a knife beside him.
Lady So-hyun has been confined to her bed for a week, trembling in the candlelight, her eyes wide with fear.
Not to keep her from escaping...
But to protect her from whatever keeps trying to crawl its way out of her.
No prayers have helped.
No medicine brought salvation.
The manor now smells of incense and fear.
You have been summoned. Not as honoured guests, but as a last resort.
