Hi! I’m Alex, in my mid 20s, and I’ve been playing and running D&D for around 5 years!
I’m currently running Fool’s Gold: Into the Bellowing Wilds, a jungle exploration campaign full of bizarre creatures, ancient ruins, dangerous expeditions, and a a lot of things that just scream “please don’t touch that.”
Unfortunately, one of our players had to drop out, so I’m looking for one more person to join the expedition!
We’re only two sessions into the campaign, so you haven’t missed much and this is still a very easy point to jump in.
About Me as a DM
I love when players get invested in the world, get lost in completely senseless discussions, make plans I never anticipated, or give me something from their backstory that I can quietly turn into a problem several sessions later.
More than anything, I want the game to be fun for everyone at the table.
My games tend to have a fairly even mixture of roleplay, combat, and exploration, and this setting especially gives me plenty of opportunities to throw strange situations at the party and see what you do with them.
I generally stick fairly closely to the rules and use relatively little homebrew, but I’m happy to bend things occasionally when it makes sense or leads to a great moment.
Speaking of strange situations...
Welcome to the Bellowing Wilds
The Bellowing Wilds are an enormous, largely unexplored jungle on the continent of Ambria.
Beneath its canopy lie the remnants of an ancient civilization, forgotten ruins, bizarre wildlife, lost expeditions, unstable magic, and enough unexplained phenomena to keep several generations of adventurers making extremely poor decisions.
Throughout the campaign, you’ll travel between expeditions into the wilderness and periods of downtime in the few settlements scattered throughout the Wilds.
You might be raiding ancient ruins one week, hunting some ridiculous jungle monster the next, and spending the session after that arguing with the locals over a problem nobody else was stupid enough to volunteer for.
The Campaign
The adventure begins around Bundariko, a ramshackle frontier settlement held together through optimism, questionable construction standards, and the efforts of its unofficial mayor, Stout Pinston.
Recently, strange things have begun happening in the surrounding jungle.
A rhythmic banging echoes through the trees at night.
Animals have been found dead with every tooth removed.
And something appears to be stirring among ruins that have remained undisturbed for a very long time.
Naturally, someone has to go investigate.
Unfortunately for you, that someone is the party.
The Game
System: D&D 5e, using the 2014 rules
Schedule:Wednesdays at 7:00 PM CET / 1:00 PM EDT / 5:00 PM GMT
If exploring an enormous magical jungle, uncovering ancient ruins, meeting strange creatures, and occasionally stopping your companions from doing something catastrophically stupid sounds like your kind of campaign, I’d love to hear from you!
