Game: Dungeons & Dragons 5e Campaign: Tyranny of Dragons - Heavily Customized Format: Online Players Needed: 4–5 Schedule:[Wednesdays 7AM][MST] Session Length:[3 hours] Cost: $15 per player, per session Session 0: Completely Free Platforms: D&D Beyond, Roll20 & Discord Experience: New and experienced players welcome
Welcome to the Sword Coast!
I hope you enjoy your stay.
Just ignore the dragons in the skies and those pesky rumors about a growing cult.
My name is Skyler, but you can call me Sky. I've been playing Dungeons & Dragons for about 8 years, spending most of that time behind the screen as a Dungeon Master.
My games lean heavily toward roleplay, character development, player choice, and narrative storytelling.
To me, the characters are the heart of a tabletop RPG. A compelling overarching story is important, but it's the players and their characters who make that story memorable.
I primarily run homebrew campaigns, but I also enjoy taking published adventures and reshaping them around the party which is exactly what I'm doing with this campaign.
🐉 The Campaign - Tyranny of Dragons
The Cult of the Dragon is on the move.
Settlements across the Sword Coast are being attacked. Dragons have begun appearing with alarming frequency. Whispers are spreading of something much larger taking shape behind the scenes.
You'll begin relatively small: a group of adventurers caught in the middle of a growing crisis.
Where things go from there?
That's up to you.
I'll be running a heavily customized version of Tyranny of Dragons.
The original adventure has a reputation for being fairly linear, so I've made significant changes to give players more freedom and allow the campaign to respond naturally to their decisions.
While the overarching threat of the Cult of the Dragon remains, the journey toward confronting that threat can change considerably depending on what the party does.
Your allies can change.
Your enemies can change.
Characters from your backstories can become part of the campaign.
And decisions you make early in the adventure may come back much later for better or worse.
Some elements of the original adventure remain intact, so I ask that players do not read the module ahead of time.
📖 Your Character Matters
Backstories are highly encouraged.
That doesn't mean I expect a 20-page novel.
Give me enough to understand:
Who your character is
What matters to them
What they want
What they fear
Important people from their past
What might convince them to risk their life on an adventure
I actively incorporate character backstories into my campaigns.
NPCs from your past might return. An unresolved enemy might find you. Someone you thought you'd never see again might suddenly become important.
I want your character to feel like they belong in the story, rather than like they're simply following it.
Characters should generally fit within the Sword Coast/Forgotten Realms, but I'm flexible with established lore. If your idea doesn't perfectly fit, talk to me. I'm usually happy to work with players to make a concept work.
My only major restriction is no space-themed/Spelljammer-style characters, as they don't fit the tone I'm aiming for with this campaign.
⚔️ What Kind of Game Do I Run?
My games are primarily focused on:
Roleplay • Character Development • Storytelling • Exploration • Player Choice • Combat
There will absolutely be combat this is Tyranny of Dragons, after all but I'm not looking to run a campaign that's simply combat encounter after combat encounter.
There will be sessions where you fight for your life.
There may also be sessions where you spend half the night arguing with an NPC, investigating something suspicious, exploring somewhere you probably shouldn't be, or having an emotional conversation around a campfire.
I enjoy letting players slow down and actually be their characters.
👥 Who Am I Looking For?
I'm looking for 4–5 players interested in building a long-term campaign together.
New players are absolutely welcome.
You don't need to memorize the Player's Handbook or know every rule before joining. I'm happy to help you learn.
Experienced players are equally welcome.
More important to me is finding players who:
Want to participate in the story
Respect the other people at the table
Give other characters opportunities to shine
Can separate character conflict from player conflict
Are interested in developing their character over time
Want their decisions to matter
Can reliably attend sessions
D&D is collaborative. Nobody, including the DM, is the main character.
💰 Why Pay to Play?
I put considerable preparation into my games outside of the actual sessions.
That includes:
Customized encounters
Maps and visual aids
Character backstory integration
NPC development
Homebrew content
Story development
Reworking published material
Preparing around player decisions
Adjusting future sessions based on what the party actually does
I also regularly ask players for feedback.
If something isn't working, I want to know. If you're particularly enjoying something, I want to know that too.
Pay-to-play also helps create a more consistent group.
One of the hardest parts of running a long-term online campaign is having players repeatedly join and disappear. That's particularly disruptive in a character-driven game where those characters become deeply connected to the larger story.
I'm looking to build a table that can stick together and see this adventure through.
🎲 Session 0 Is Completely Free
Before anyone pays anything, we'll have a free Session 0.
This is our opportunity to figure out whether we're actually a good fit for one another.
We'll discuss:
Campaign expectations
House rules
Boundaries and uncomfortable subjects
Character creation
Backstories
Party composition
The tone of the campaign
What you want from D&D
What you can expect from me as your DM
And, importantly, you'll get to meet the other players.
If you already have a character concept, bring it!
I'm happy to work with you during Session 0 or over Discord afterward to make your character fit naturally into the campaign.
You're not obligated to continue into the paid campaign simply because you attended Session 0.
🖥️ What We'll Use
D&D Beyond
Character creation, character sheets, sourcebook sharing, and homebrew content.
Roll20
Our virtual tabletop for maps, encounters, combat, and visual aids.
Discord
Voice chat and our primary hub for communication between sessions.
A working microphone and reasonably stable internet connection will be required.

Name/Nickname: D&D/TTRPG Experience: What do you enjoy most about D&D?: What are you looking for in a campaign?: What kind of characters do you generally enjoy playing?: Any character ideas already?: (Optional) Any questions for me?:
Don't worry about writing an application essay. I'm mainly looking to see if we're likely to enjoy playing D&D together.
If it sounds like a good fit, we'll talk further and get you set up for Session 0.
If you're looking for a long-term, character-driven campaign where your backstory and decisions can genuinely influence the adventure, you're welcome at my table.
