Hello, players!
My name is Kenzie, AKA Flashy (she/her). I have been a bit out of the loop with Dungeons & Dragons for a while, and after some recent experiences found myself wanting to get back into the hobby again. I am seeking players who would enjoy playing a D&D adventure starting out in Faerun, with the potential to explore the planes and more.
I am only seeking a small number of players, 4 at the most, to ease myself getting back into DM'ing. And I am looking for players interested in playing a very specific type of character for this game. Here is the pitch that all player-characters should follow...
The Pitch
You are a regular old boring person, a human, living on Earth. In fact, you... are you. One day, right about the moment we begin playing you are suddenly transported by an unknown force to The Sword Coast, plucked from your desk, from your day job, from whatever regular thing you might've been doing, and dropped into a new world that you find yourself... surprisingly familiar with: Toril, the continent of Faerun, The Sword Coast.
This magical transportation also comes with magical transformation. All player-characters arrive with Earthly items, including a smart phone that has been transformed by the weave, modern clothing, etc. But you, however, will find yourself transformed into something new. What exactly that is is up to you. Maybe you're still human, or maybe you've been turned into a Tabaxi, or maybe you've found yourself transformed into a race or species that doesn't yet exist in Faerun, something truly unique.
The Adventure
Where the adventure takes us from there is going to be up to you all, but your arrival in Faerun comes with some world-shattering consequences that you will eventually have to deal with. Luckily, you come armed with knowledge unlike anyone in this world has: Meta-Knowledge. In this game, since you are playing you, you will come into this world knowing everything you know about the real world, and about Dungeons & Dragons. History checks will be... all but eliminated, used only to confirm details that might be just out of reach.
In our next session, we will:
Integrate our characters into the setting.
Learn how to fight, use magic, and navigate the world.
Set a course for a major city: Neverwinter, Waterdeep, or Baldur's Gate
Decide as a group which adventure module, if any, we want to base our first adventure one. This adventure will be designed to get us somewhere between levels 6 and 8, and will be a shortened version of the actual module it's based on.
Following that, my plan is to...
Run the party through the mini-adventure to level 6, 7, or 8.
Introduce a major arc.
Shake the world up with big changes.
Start throwing real challenges at the party.
Eventually, you can expect to...
Leave The Sword Coast for more grand adventures.
Acquire and create powerful magic items.
Explore the planes, any of them, maybe all of them.
Earn and spend hundreds of thousands of gold.
Tools, Platforms, Etc.
We'll be using Discord for voice chat, and you must have a decent quality microphone that won't have feedback.
I have all of my content on DnDBeyond, so we'll be using that to manage player-character sheets.
Roll20 will be our go-to for maps, but combat maps will be very minimalist, and honestly, seldom used.
Your tool skills will be far more useful here than other games you've likely played. I am (slowly) building a massively overhauled crafting system.
I use Sane Magic Item Prices as a guide for pricing my magic items. It's a very well-done (IMO) re-balancing of magic item costs for 5e.
The Players I Want
I am looking for players who are interested in the concept of the game, obviously. That is a basic requirement. But more importantly, I am interested in players who are huge lore nerds when it comes to the Forgotten Realms. Not everything will be 100% lore accurate, but it will be as close to it as we can make it make sense for the game. If you're a fan of MrRhexx or DungeonDad over on YouTube, if you're constantly looking things up on Forgotten Realms Wiki, looking for old, obscure sourcebooks to find the details that aren't filled in, then you are exactly the type of player I'm looking for, as long as you can be somewhat flexible about what will ultimately be used, unused, or changed in this game.
As to roleplay vs. combat. I like both, but I can be flexible. We can discuss as a group if we want to do more combat at times, or if we want to slow down and do more roleplay. One important thing though: I do not want players who are trying to get back to Earth, I am looking for PC's that reject the notion entirely, and would prefer their new adventures here. That's not to say you'd never be homesick, or never miss certain aspects of Earth, just that there is not interest in returning home.
And finally, I want players who are interested in the following:
Top level difficulty in combat, especially in boss fights. I need players who won't give up, who will face a challenge, and face certain death with a smile.
A lot of downtime, especially at higher levels. You'll find the higher and higher you get in levels, the less level-appropriate threats come your way, the greater rewards they will offer, and the more long-term plans and opportunities you'll want to take part in.
E.G. I'm sure you're aware that certain spells like Druid Grove can create permanent terrain features that can act as a home base of sorts, but require a ridiculous amount of time to create. If you ever wanted to actually do those things, this will be the campaign for you.
Long-term game experience. This is a weekly game, but if we can squeeze in extra sessions, then I'd love to do so. I'd like to see a party of adventurers through the entire 1-20 experience.
Able to handle mature topics. This is not an erotic roleplaying game, but mature themes may be included in it, nonetheless.
Disclosures/About Me
Just to make sure I'm up front about a number of things, prospective players should be aware of the following regarding myself:
Over 25, transfemme
Pacific Time Zone, USA
Currently, I am on Short-Term Disability, and will be for... awhile. This means two things
Eventually (next year), I will be going back to work. That being said, if I go back to the same job, it will not affect my availability as listed above.
I may have doctors appointments and checkups that can alter my availability on a week-to-week basis. I've tried to account for that, but there could be an outlier time and date that will cause an issue from time to time.
Weed friendly, but I don't smoke. I used to, but now I do edibles only. It's legal in my state.
I stopped drinking earlier this year and do not intend to drink alcohol ever again. Please do not ask, invite, or tempt me to drink.
I am a furry, deal with it. I got to Furcons, I am definitely a kinky person, though finding myself less and less sexual these days (it must be the hormones).
I do not judge or condemn AI usage. I've dipped my toes into AI before, but I'm not super into it. Just want to be up front about where I stand on this since it's a hot-button issue.
