Game: D&D 5e/5.5e Group type: Online – Discord / D&D Beyond / Owlbear Rodeo Location/Timezone: UK / British Summer Time (GMT when the clocks change) Schedule: Sundays, 5pm UK time, approximately 3 hours, every fortnight. May move to 4pm depending on group preference. Roles sought:2 Players wanted — 4 players already confirmed Experience: A few years / veteran preferred — this campaign is not suitable for beginners Age restriction: 18++ Game style: Roleplaying, exploration, survival, combat Game type: Dark Fantasy, exploring different styles of horror Homebrew-ness:Massive ;)
Session zero: 4th October, 5pm Session one: tbd
🕯️ Grim Domains of Dread
A long-term Dark Horror Fantasy campaign set across the Domains of Dread, drawing heavily from Ravenloft, Grim Hollow, and plenty of homebrew.
The campaign will move through very different Domains and styles of horror rather than staying with one particular flavour throughout.
Expect:
Different genres of horror / dark fantasy
Exploration of different Domains of Dread
Strong character stories and recurring NPCs
Investigation, social encounters, survival and combat
Player choices with lasting consequences
Bastions as a permanent and important campaign feature
Grim Hollow-style Transformations, where power comes with consequences
The tone is intended to be dark and immersive, but not relentlessly miserable. There should still be people worth helping, victories worth earning, and reasons for the characters to care about what happens.
🧙 Character Creation
And no — you do not need to create a grim, antisocial murder-machine because this is Ravenloft. The party still has to function as a party.
Please do not create a character before Session Zero.
This campaign uses a significant amount of homebrew, including additional character mechanics and expanded transformation rules. These elements are substantial enough that they may change or invalidate character concepts made using standard rules alone.
So for now, wait for Session Zero.
We will discuss character creation together once everyone knows what options actually exist.
I currently have 4 players confirmed and I'm looking for 2 more.
If this sounds like the sort of campaign you would enjoy, send me a message with a little about your D&D experience, what you enjoy most in a campaign, and what kind of game you are hoping to join.
