~Druskenvald is a land of life, death, and rebirth. Expired souls from the mortal planes often find themselves here, joined into The Cycle where death is never final. Lately, though, something has changed, heralded by the discovery of a strange body on the beaches of Ibbsmouth. The Cycle has been interrupted and now the dead stay buried. You've been hired- or, rather, enticed- by the sudden appearance of a mysterious letter signed only by a strange symbol, beseeching you to investigate this scene. Oddly enough, when you arrive to investigate, the body isn't there- yet.~
This game is going to dive deeply into trigger heavy content and dark themes. The comfort of everyone at the table is of the utmost importance to me so we will be using an array of safety tools to keep everyone safe. If the Saw movies make you queasy or true crime keeps you up at night, this might not be the game for you. Moments of levity are important to keep us sane, but a vast majority of this game will be held in the depths of despair.

The Campaign
By train or by trauma, for one reason or another, you’ve found yourself in Druskenvald: an afterlife demiplane built upon the Cycle of Rebirth. Then, under mysterious circumstances, a letter finds its way to you. It is addressed to a name that is not yours but is undeniably you, sealed in black wax and stamped with a strange symbol.
The letter pleads with you to travel to Ibbsmouth and investigate a body that has washed ashore. Beneath that request, however, lies something far more troubling: whoever wrote it knows far too much about you.
As you travel through the afterlife, you’ll encounter strange happenings that defy the laws of the Cycle of Rebirth. You’ll decide whether to embrace, correct, or openly defy this new way of dying, all while facing otherworldly creatures, dubious cryptids, and mysteries that may have been buried for very good reasons.
This will be a mystery-focused sandbox campaign, giving you the freedom to decide which leads to pursue, whom to trust, and what should be done when the dead stop behaving as they should.
Content Advisory: Cryptid like monsters, Clinical details/Implication of SA, Implication of torture, heavy themes of death, contact me for a full list of potential topics.
Safety Mechanics:
Once you sign up for my games, I'll send over a link for my Lines and Veils document as the first line of defense. The data from this document will be compiled and provided to the table anonymously, posted in the game server, and reviewed in session 0.
During play, I utilize a red yellow green safety deck in Roll20. Players can anonymously deal out a green card to encourage a scene to keep progressing, a yellow card to pause and move on from the scene, or a red card to indicate a full stop where we will take a short 10-20 minute break to reset before continuing. Players are always welcome to privately message me if they need to talk or want to adjust the lines and veils/provide feedback on what to avoid in the future.
I like to wrap up a session with 15-20 minutes of open space to talk about anything anyone feels they need to talk about. Whether this is idle chatter to come down from the events of the game, talk over something that happened, compliment their fellow players, or anything else that might be on their mind.
About the Game Master
Hi, I'm Amalthyon! You can also call me Ama.
I'm a very player focused GM and enjoy relying on character backstory for big plot points and rely heavily on a network of safety tools to ensure everyone is comfortable and having a good time.
Roleplay and dynamic combats are my bread and butter. Mystery and intrigue are my go to frameworks for plot, and combats usually have more than one objective. I love creating a safe space out of character that welcomes player characters to engage in emotionally intense scenes and conflicts. Aftercare and frequent check ins are key for providing the comfort and safety needed!
I have over a decade of experience GMing dungeons and dragons. I started out with 3.5 when I was a teenager and moved to 5e shortly after it was published. I've been dabbling with the 2024 edition in home games since it was published as well, but 5e is really where I live.
