Welcome to the world of Oubliette

Ancient rifts known as The World Gates lie open across the land like gaping wounds, bleeding the raw energy, philosophy, and magic of the Inner and Outer Planes directly into the soil. These gates are a strict one-way valve. Extraplanar beings—whether righteous archons, greedy genies, or scheming fiends—can enter the world, but they can never return home. To step through a gate is to accept permanent exile in the mortal realm.

Over the centuries, mortal nations have sprouted around these rifts, deeply shaped by the immortal "patrons" who rule them from the shadows. From the immaculate, geometrically perfect grid-cities of the north to the dark, mist-shrouded jungle empires of the interior, the world has achieved a tense, fragile balance.

But this is not where our story begins.

Our story begins in the Wild Lands—the vast, untamed frontiers that stretch between the borders of these great civilizations. Here the people belong to no factions. Maintain no strict moral philosophy or code and just try to survive in a hostile world dominated by great powers.

But the winds of change are blowing across the frontier. An ancient, planetary alignment is approaching. Strange omens are appearing in the sky, wild beasts are growing to mythic proportions, and the great gate-nations are reaching out to influence the wild lands for the first time in centuries.

Something is about to drop into the wilderness. The world is waking up, a ticking clock is about to start, and independent souls like you will soon hold the ultimate leverage to change the balance of the world forever.
