Forward: I am looking for 1-2 players to join an on-going campaign, using 2014 rules. Expansions and homebrews are allowed, but we do not use 2024 material.
We play Tuesdays 19:00 GMT/BST, every week. This time never changes.
My personal work schedule means that we roughly miss one session per month, but one of the players often runs one-shots to fill in these gaps for the rest of the party.
About the game: The world is beset by an eternal winter. Infrastructure has stagnated, and resources are low. However, culture has adapted over the last millenia, and the harsh way of life is simply the way it is. The capital city, Sanction, is a safehaven from the cold. Protected by a shimmering dome, residents within the city enjoy life as it was before. That is, until recently, the city fell; besieged by dragon attacks (very closely tied to the party and overall plot). Additionally, the fey realm has been seeping into the material plain for a few centuries, and the effects can be seen and felt all around. Fey-touched creatures, often with a propensity for animalistic violence inhabit the world, bringing strange new magics along with them.
There's a good mix of RP and combat. Fights happen as and when they're required, but the narrative is story-driven and not combat-driven.
More about the current plot and story can be discussed later!
If you like snowy settings, a creepier interpretation of the fey realm, and most importantly dragons, this may be the game for you.
About the group: There are currently 3 players in the party, as we have just lost a member due to personal reasons. As such, I'm looking to fill some empty spaces with some new faces. We have a bard, a cleric, and a druid. More can be learned about the party, but I like introductions to be carried out in-character.
There's a great level of camaradie between the players, who all joined the party at different times. They're super welcoming to new faces, and it's a pleasure to run games for them each week. We tell great stories, but most importantly we have a good time. For a group of 4, we're a diverse bunch, with players from 3 different countries.
About me, the DM: I started this campaign 3 years ago, with the intention for it to run for some time. Plenty of time is spent on developing character arcs, as well as the main/sub story plots. We've had players come and go, as committing for a long time is not for everyone, but the current party have all been here for 2+ years.
I like a slow burn. 3 years in and the story's only halfway there. That's not to say sessions feel slow, just that we're never rushed. There are certainly tense moments, but important aspects of a story are not skipped in the interest of finishing something in x number of sessions.
I play by the rules, and like to set precidents rather than one-off decisions on how something should work. We have a list of house rules (crits, potion usage, spells per turn), but 99% stick to the core rules of 2014 DND. I like to homebrew a lot of items over giving established ones, and have homebrewed several feats and many spells, tailored for the PCs.
I love to see character's RP a lot of decisions, and a good amount of time each sessions is dedicated to the PCs just chatting. This really makes everyone feel immersed, and the relationships between characters feel genuine.
I run the game as player-lead. This is not my power fantasy. I want to tell a great story for some great people.
Finally, we use Discord, roll20.net and dndbeyond. I use Inkarnate to make maps, and every battlemap is made by me. I have premium subscriptions to all the before mentioned services - and I will never ask players for money. I run this game because I love to - not to make an earning.
About you: You're great for reading this far!
18+ and excellent English, please. I need players that are comfortable with adult themes, and can communicate clearly with the party.
Access to Discord, Roll20 and Dndbeyond - of course. We don't play with cameras, but we have all been on camera before. There is never an expectation for it, but if you're comfortable sharing then so are we. Over the time spent together - we've all become friends. We'd love to make some more!
Willingness to play, and ability to commit to the regular schedule! This game is best suited for people that want something long-term - not just to fill the space till Christmas.
Ideally, this is not your first campaign. The story is well underway, and the players are not at a beginner level. The players aren't all dnd pros either - I would just expect some level of confidence in the game system and RP.
With both of those last points being said - I am happy to have a chat with anybody who is interested, at any experience level. The right person could be anyone!
So, if you think you'd like to join, or just want to learn more - please reach out. Either down below, or better, contacting me on Discord directly. My username is bogn
Much love, as always.
