I'm looking for 2 players to join an already running campaign, at 3rd level.
Theme.
The game is mix of west marches, with something of a main storyline that you can follow if you have no other idea of what you'd like to do.
I'm using 2024 Rules, Faerunian pantheons, most of the creatures lore remains the same, there are quite a few homebrewed creatures and items sprinkled in.
The worlds technology is on par with that of the 1700's. So imagine Frigate, War Galleons, Cannons, Pistols, Muskets all exist within this setting.
The world is yet to be complete and I'm open to players establishing their backstory in non-existent places, as a way of leaving their mark upon the world. There are a bunch of islands and lots of open seas and oceans. I would have to say that the game is very much grounded in logic and not a power fantasy, although you are all extraordinarily powerful compared to the rest of the world.
Within this setting a large portion of the world knows about cantrips and 1st level spells. Such spells are easily recognizable albeit not everyone can practice the arcane. Elves, Drow, Gnomes and other species with innate magic are more likely to be practitioners than Humans, Halflings, Gnomes or Orcs.
How it all works.
The game would usually follow this cycle. Players sail on the seas> A sea event happens based on a table I've made and their location> Sail to an island that hosts a settlement or city> Discover quests or establish relations> Set sails again> Discover ruins or untouched islands> Repeat.
The players have their own ship, there are homebrewed rules on how the ship works, players also have roles on the ship and a crew of their own. The ship requires a minimum number of people on-board to be sailed, otherwise it become adrift.
Currently missing roles: Cook, Captain.
So far.
Just a quick summary it's been about 7 sessions so far. The party is made up of 1 Bard, 1 Warlock, 1 Barbarian.
Players began captured and sentenced with different crimes, they along 50 other prisoners were being extradited on a ship to a Prison island. The ship was sank by a Kraken and they swam to shore. On the island the players dispatched their jailers and even killed another party of smugglers to steal their ship. Thereafter, they sailed to the closest inhabited island, whereupon knowingly of the smugglers business connection to the Islands lord, they were summoned by him.
The players currently have found an informant who was willing to share the information of a secret pick-up of an artifact pertaining old forgotten treasure and are headed to intercept it.
They've also been tasked with taking the head of another Pirate group for a large sum of gold.
Details.
Date: Every Friday, at 9PM [GMT+2]
Game content will be hosted via DnDBeyond.
Voice via Discord.
VTT: AboveVtt, its an extension you can download and play on google Chrome and Firefox.
Stats rules: You can roll, use standard array or point buy. If you decide to roll I would have to be present.
Table Rules: The party has agreed on using flanking with additive to hit bonus. In addition the party has agreed upon using something called villain actions that haven't come up yet. It's essentially a powerful but limited reaction the "boss" can take once per round.
Weather vs Combat. During weather encounters spells and abilities can be more imaginative rather than their normal clear-cut use during normal combat.
If I forgot something, hit me up with a question.
What I'm looking for.
A character that makes some sense, with a purpose behind choosing or being adopted by the life of a pirate. Piracy is dangerous, pirates are mostly not unwelcome and entering some islands will be difficult and become even more difficult the more exploits your crew and ship amasses.
