Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Offline preferred/ would try online Experience: Many years back in the 80s, new to 5e but feeling the pull again Location/Timezone: Framingham/Natick, MA, USA - EST Availability: Friday or Saturday nights or Sunday afternoon thru evening Preferred role: Player - used to play Barbarians, Fighter/Rogues, have a new Dwarf Tempest Cleric that has seen 1 offline session Game style: flexible here, I like to create fairly detailed backstories for my characters so when the DM can weave the PC backstories into our encounters and quests, that is awesome. My group playing back in the 80s used to use miniatures and hexmaps, but I am also okay with a theatre of the mind style. I've played games like Skyrim and back in the day... WoW but never participated in a virtual tabletop session of D&D.
I'm in Framingham. D&D player since the early 80s and have experimented with other systems off an on since then, but always find my way back to D&D. Running a 5e campaign through work now, but something close to home would be cool. I'm almost always DM and I've come to realize that I've run so many versions of D&D I have a hard time keeping them all straight in my brain so my style is fast and lose with the rules in favor of story.
You are my 1st response to this posting. Since putting it up, I have had a 2nd offline session (with my teenage kids, my wife and my son's friend as the DM). My son and our DM are now back at college and I am still Jonesing for a regular D&D fix. After several weeks and submitting dozens of player applications via the Roll20, I have played 3 online sessions using Roll20 for video and Discord for voice. The latest group seems pretty solid but we are taking a break for a couple weeks as our DM has mid-term exams at Medical School coming up at the beginning of the month.
I am still very much interested in joining an offline/Face to Face group for some olde style dungeoneering with role-play sprinkled in as people get comfortable with each other. I have a 5e Player's Handbook and still consider myself 'teachable' for things beyond the basic mechanics of character creation and playing it at level 1 and 2. I will send you a direct message, maybe we can talk more about creating a group? If you are interested in DM-ing I can reach out to 1 or 2 other local people who might be convinced to get back into the game.
