Seeking fellow Critters (fans of Critical Role). If you don't know what Critical Role is this may not be the game for you. The group will be heavily role-play focused. Character stories and in-character interaction will be central. For a taste of what makes Critical Role so special watch this short fan-made video (especially the second half): Thanks Vox Machina: A Critical Tribute
If you're not sure but it sounds like fun and you're willing to try, come on in. You are welcome here.
Game: D&D 5e Group type: Face-to-face Experience: Any Location/Timezone: Triangle area of NC Schedule: Prefer Week nights weekly or bi-weekly but pretty flexible Roles sought: DM and 3-4 other Players or 4-5 players if I DM Game style: Story and roleplay focused games. Heavy character development
Seeking a DM with homebrew content if possible but not mandatory. I will DM if no one else can but I'm inexperienced at DMing and would have to use published content.
Hoping to find a group of Critical Role fans who want to try their best to create a similar experience. The key here is "try their best." Role playing a character or a world with depth is not easy. Patience and humility will make for the best time for all.
To that end the following should be observed by all players:
Players and DM must be patient with the others in the group while we find our stride and overcome nerves of "performing" in front of strangers.
It's not a competition. Everyone wants their character's story to be told. Be patient. The opportunity will come. Don't try to force it.
If your idea of authentic role play is screwing over or back stabbing your fellow party members because "that's what your character would do" be prepared to be killed or kicked out of the party because "that's what the other characters would do" if they were treated that way.
In creating your characters focus on making them interesting to play, not on getting ideal stats or being powerful. Flaws and quirks make the most beloved and memorable characters, not being successful at everything. Yawn.
Be respectful to the other players and your host. Keep your commitments and be on time for games.
If you have difficulty coming up with a character or back story that you like I'll be happy to help, as will the other players I'm sure.
Other rules and guidelines can be discussed as a group once we have one.
Reply here but also message me for info and questions so the thread doesn't get over cluttered and sidetracked.
If a FLGS spot is needed for hosting c- i suggest GaMer's Armory in Cary. I have run a pick-up there and will again - noise level is fine. facilities and location good.
Was in a campaign in another FLGS in north raleigh and the noise was oppressive every time plus they had a lot of restirctions that made campaigning difficult.
I am interested in playing and maybe an occasional GM effort (i plan some one-off pick-ups in Feb..) but cannot Gm regularly due to already having a full campaign.
I am an old-fart - been GMing and playing since... well lets say I likely will be the oldest.
I picked up CR at season 2, so much of season one is just legend and myth to me.
I own taldorei campaign setting (and incorporated its sub-classes into my campaign)
And you've GOT to watch Season one. As much as I like season 2 I think there was something magical about Vox Machina. Maybe because many of them were playing for the first time and the characters they created had a certain innocence that comes out. Or maybe because it began as their home game and they weren't the huge icons they became later. Their role play of their characters seemed more relaxed and honest without the pressure to please fans. Just my opinion.
Hey Ive been looking for a group as well, as i work so much on my characters background story but it never seems to come up :/ i would really like to join!
I'm sorry for dropping off the face of the Earth recently. I was blindsided by the flu 5 or 6 days ago and my days have been only concerned with sleeping and surviving. I'm still under the weather but will try to make some progress on this soon.

I'm interested in playing (Not DMing) I'll DM you questions.
New to the area and looking for a group. Only been role-playing for a few years, but always a team player!
Have a pretty open schedule for week nights or weekends. Let me know if you have an open seat.
Update: We have possibly up to five people so far. 2 or 3 of them aren't sure things yet. I'll keep you all updated.

I’m up to play, provided you don’t mind dealing with my rotating retail schedule.
I'll play. i might not be around for some of it though.
Going to create a Discord server that we can all discuss this through. I'll PM everyone interested so far the invite shortly. Probably tomorrow.
If it’s not too late, I’m pretty interested.
just checking if the discord thing PM has gone out?
If it has, I didn’t get one yet.
Same

Super interested if there's still room!
Check your PMs for the Discord invite.
