Seeking fellow Critters (fans of Critical Role). Character stories and in-character interaction will be central. For a taste of what makes Critical Role so special watch this short fan-made video (especially the second half): Thanks Vox Machina: A Critical Tribute
If you're not sure but it sounds like fun and you're willing to try, come on in. You are welcome here.
Game: D&D 5e Group type: Face-to-face Experience: Any Location/Timezone: Triangle area of NC Schedule: Prefer Weeknights weekly or bi-weekly but pretty flexible Roles sought: DM and 3-4 other Players or 4-5 players if I DM, though that will be as a last resort. Game style: Story and roleplay focused games. Heavy character development
Seeking a DM with homebrew content if possible but not mandatory. I will DM if no one else can but I'm inexperienced at DMing and would have to use published content.
Hoping to find a group of Critical Role fans who want to try their best to create a similar experience. The key here is "try their best." Role-playing a character or a world with depth is not easy. Patience and humility will make for the best time for all.
To that end, the following should be observed by all players:
Players and DM must be patient with the others in the group while we find our stride and overcome nerves of "performing" in front of strangers.
It's not a competition. Everyone wants their character's story to be told. Be patient. The opportunity will come. Don't try to force it.
If your idea of authentic role play is screwing over or backstabbing your fellow party members because "that's what your character would do" be prepared to be killed or kicked out of the party because "that's what the other characters would do" if they were treated that way.
In creating your characters focus on making them interesting to play, not on getting ideal stats or being powerful. Flaws and quirks make the most beloved and memorable characters, not being successful at everything. Yawn.
Be respectful to the other players and your host. Be able to separate roleplay from real life. If you are offended IRL by the actions of a character in the game that MUST be discussed with the group. Do not accuse or confront that player based on your perceptions. Do not assume the actions of a character are a reflection of the player IRL. Talk about it with the whole group or the DM. If you have good reason to find the behavior unacceptable it will be stopped.
Keep your commitments and be on time for games.
Other rules and guidelines can be discussed as a group once we have one.
Reply here but also message me for info and questions so the thread doesn't get over cluttered and sidetracked.
Just confirming that I am still interested in joining the group. I am a newer player but very excited about the prospect of helping create a Critical Role inspired group. I look forward to the first group get together.

Hey WrongWriter,

I think I'm just going to take a break from gaming. Sorry.
Hey so FYI I’m looking into starting my own group in the area. But I will be DMing. I’ll put up information in a separate post soon
