Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: Me: veteran / You: Beginner Location/Timezone: NY, EST Schedule: Games will be played at 10am EST every Saturday. Roles sought: Players: 4 Game style: This is a learning experience designed for new players. I lean more towards the heavy roleplaying side with combat as impactful as possible.
I am looking exclusively for newer players to the genre or those that are coming back and learning the ropes of 5e.
This is an online game, using Roll20 for the virtual tabletop and discord for voice chat.
Whether this is an online only game only and, if so, which timezone you're in, when is the game (e.g. 18:00 - 23:30 on Tuesdays) and any software/websites you expect group members to use.
I love roleplaying interactions between players and creating an immersive story.
We will be playing The Lost Mine of Phandelver, which is a great adventure that is perfectly suited to learning the nuances of the game.
Please note this is a paid campaign of $30/mo with 1 session weekly. See below for more detailed information.
Campaign specific information:
In the upstart town of Phandalin there lies a secret. Will you and your newly formed band of comrades unwrap the secrets? There is only one way to find out.
About the Campaign:
This campaign is focused exclusively for newcomers to D&D5e. I want to offer a welcoming environment where you can ask any question and not worry about interrupting the flow of the game for others, as they will all have their own questions. Learning D&D can be daunting, I want to make your initial (or close to) experience a memorable and painless one.
The campaign will consist of myself (your DM) and 4 players. I want to keep party sizes small due to the nature of a learning campaign. I think having a smaller party is essential to a players skill development. It virtually ensures a player will get the attention they need.
Sessions will be 3.5hrs long and will contain (1) 10 minute break as close to the halfway mark as possible (story allowing.) The campaign itself will take you from level 1-5 over the course of 10-14 weeks.
The first session will be what is called a session 0, where the DM and players get together and work on building characters, talk about expectations and generally get to know one another. This session is usually shorter than a normal session. Depending on how things go in the session 0 we might do a little adventuring that day. This is also an unpaid session where you can decide if this is something you want to commit to.
Once this campaign is over there will be an opportunity to carry your characters over to a larger adventure if you so choose.
What do I need from the players?
You will need a working headset and microphone. Speech communication will be done via discord. Your virtual tabletop will be Roll20. I will help you get situated if you are unfamiliar.
You will need a computer, internet connection and preferably chrome or firefox browsers.
An open mind and a willingness to learn.
Your commitment to be here on a weekly basis and go through to the end.
I have a zero tolerance policy regarding discrimination and harassment. If it has been deemed that a player has broken that policy then they will be removed from the campaign with no refunds given.
Most importantly, a good attitude.
Who am I?
I have over 35 years of tabletop gaming experience. I first started playing D&D in a family game when I was 8 years old. The group consisted of my grandmother (the raddest old lady I ever knew) as well as my 2 uncles and a couple of family friends. It is an activity that has always meant a lot to me and I see it as something that brings people together.
Why should you pay?
You are paying for a curated and premium service tailored to new players. I use a lot of external resources to make sure the game runs as smoothly as I can make it. This is being run in an electronic environment, so you can expect some hiccups, but I will do my best to minimize them. You will also have access to a large library of 5e materials, which can save you a substantial amount of money.
As to what you can expect from me:
A very patient individual with a broad knowledge of the system who is committed to making your learning experience as enjoyable as possible.
Punctuality, I will be in game on time and ready to go at the appointed time.
Present. I will not miss a game unless something extreme happens, in that case you will be given a partial refund for the month.
A place free of discrimination or harassment.
I will commit to doing my best bad english accent in an attempt to bring the world and its characters to life.
