Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: Any and all accepted. New players are welcome to join as well and learn along Location/Timezone: Germany / MEST Schedule: Mondays, starting 5 pm to 9 pm MEST, for about two to three hours Roles sought: 4-5 Players / ALL SPOTS CURRENTLY FILLED Game style: Roleplay, but generally a good mix of everything.
Good day all.
First time posting here, but I felt I should give a little more specific information.
My name is Elias, age 21, and I'm looking for around four or five players for a homebrew campaign. I've played a few 5e games in the past, am relatively new to DMing, but I am excited to get started.
When and for how long: The basic idea for this was that we'd set a goal for about two months, playing every week on Mondays two to three hours (can be decided once the group is together), starting somewhere from 5 pm to 9 pm MEST. Once we get to that point, we can see if we want to keep playing, or of it's possible with personal commitments.
What platform: I'm planning on using discord video chat, as I feel voice chat is simply a bit too restrictive. It's also going to be mostly theater of the mind set.
What style of game: I'm not a big believer in prioritizing one aspect of the game over another. If you've ever watched the Yogscast's series HighRollers, that's what I'm aiming for. A good mix between combat, exploration, and character interaction. I want it to be a fun game for everyone, that's the main thing.
Requirements: This is basically open for everybody, but there are a few key things I'd like you to bring to this table:
: Be creative. Don't be afraid to get into it, we're literally all here for exactly that. Try and bring your character to life. And if you've never done that, the rest of the group can help you with tips.
: Be capable of English. I have tried this game in other languages. Not as enjoyable. You may have noticed that I'm from Germany, but I'd still prefer to play in English any day of the week.
: Come at this game with the attitude of wanting to work with all of the people involved, not against them. I as the DM am not here to try and TPK the party. We're all here to have a good time together.
: Be accepting. This may be redundant, but hateful behavior, racism and sexism won't be tolerated. I'm generally looking for an open-minded group. If that's not exactly you but you'd still like to join, that's fine. I'm not shutting people out before I even know them, but be aware that unacceptable behavior will get you removed from this group as easily as any group around a physical table.
: Love the game. Bring your passion to the mental table and all will be well.
: Be relaxed. We're a friendly community.
: Be cooperative with the other players.
: Be mature. There's going to be mature language and possibly adult themes. That being said, there won't be anything too explicit, and if we can all behave and act like adults, a little strong language and in-game messiness shouldn't be a problem.
Bring your humor along. It's a game. It's supposed to be fun.
Now, if you're a halfway normal person, most of these things will be second nature to you. If you're new at this, you may be intimidated. Don't be. I'm literally just writing this so nobody can say they thought it was going to be completely different.
Now here are some general rules around the table:
If there are issues, we talk about them and communicate calmly. No temper tantrums.
What the DM says, goes. I am more than happy to let you reason with me, but there will be no rules lawyering and no needlessly drawn out discussions.
Rule of Cool: The DM has the right to change any rule for effects of coolness, as long as the players agree (which is a fancy way of saying I will reward creative ideas.) At the same time, be aware that some rules may have slightly changed. Generally, though, unless you're intending to put yourself into a situation where the only thing saving you is a technicality in the rules, don't worry about it. It'll rarely come up. (Examples include throwing yourself off a mountain. It's quite possible to survive that in "Rule as Written" 5e. Not here.)
I would like to have a Session Zero for character creation and further integration of characters into the world, but that's for later.
Here is the homebrew worlds available. I can't quite let you know the storyline for each, as it will be adapted from your characters and choices. Both worlds are connected by way of interplanar travel, so you can possibly jump from one to the other. In fact, alternate worlds are the big theme. The second are dragons, because dragons make everything better.
Scenario One: The planet Astrea has suffered a terrible calamity named the "Starfall", in which a number of gods were killed. The gods per se are not actual gods, but rather mortals that are worshiped like gods and have achieved immortality and great power thanks to their mastery over magic. In achieving this mastery, they have attracted a lot of powerful entities to the world, so a shield was erected around it to ward them off, while simultaneously keeping out the primordial dragons, who tried to conquer the planet long ago. During the Starfall, many rifts to other worlds opened up, and so many different creatures have ended up on Astrea. The rifts between the worlds have been sealed with physical gates, and the study of magic has been outlawed. (Now, this may remind you of the Highrollers Aerois campaign, to which I say: "Yes, that jump started the idea. And what better way to show my appreciation than to take the base idea and show my take on it. Plus, alternate realities are cool.")
Scenario two: The world is ruled by the Enochs. Imagine humans with wings, descendants of the ancient angels. They live in beautiful cities all across the land, which is plagued by horrible monsters. The monsters, in turn, look at the Enochs in the very same way. To them, the angelic rulers are the monsters, and they try everything to get them off their planet. Actual magical abilities are far and few in between, and the only way to tap into magic is either the rare tribal shamanism of the monsters, or the ancient blades of the deiverse royal families. A great war has left this planet's history mostly shrouded in mystery, but who knows, maybe you'll get to explore and re-discover it?
Again, storylines will have to be adapted to your characters. In fact, most things will probably be done on the fly, and there'll be more specific information divvied out to you once you know what direction you're leaning with your character.
Characters will mostly be created in our Session Zero, and leveled up to level two. Because at level one you're just a bit too squishy for my tastes.
Right, so now you know everything there is to know.
I hope this wall of rather detailed information hasn't put you off. If you're interested, let me know and I'll get back to you.
Hey there! Names Bek, really like the sound of the campaign setting and the alternate world's theme has definitely caught my interest, I'd very much like to play in it, and your schedule works perfectly with my own, so that's even better! I'm a relatively new player in comparison to other people, but I have played in a few games and even DMed a couple here and there for friends of mine!
Hey! I adore HighRollers' campaigns and would love to be involved in a game that has that vibe. I already have a character in mind with a flushed out creative backstory. I do live in the US so Mondays would be ideal as i am in classes at that time, although I'm very interested in your campaign and thought I would put myself out there and see if any accommodations could be made, if not thats totally understandable. I hope that this can work out as i am very interested. My discord is MajesticMeg#8503
Hello there, my name is Javier and I'd be super interested in joining your campaign, it sounds real cool I like a deeper story like this and it seems like a good ol' time. The time works good for me as I don't have any commitments at that time.
Hey I would love to join. I been playing DnD for about 1 year now mostly as a dm and a bit as a player. And the times for mondays currently means I could easily join as I have no commitments on mondays at the moment. If you want to talk more with me add Cirellia#7512 on discord.
Unfortunately we currently have all the players we can fit in, but if in future there's an opening or we need more players for a similar game, I'll keep you in mind.
I just read everything and honestly i would love to join it seems like it would be tons of fun and you seem to be good at it so that's making me want to join even more
Hello there, im from Portugal and i wanna be on it. Im actually mastering two games, but i really wanna play another scenario. My discord is KalazielKing, #6824, really interested!
