Looking for 2-3 active (play around 3 hours every or every other weekend) beginner or newer players for a 5e campaign. Been playing (mostly DM) since the old school AD&D days in the 80’s, and some of my players (and now their kids) wanted to play the new 5e version, but with 6 total players with crazy schedules, nobody could really give a time commitment. So after posting here in March, I restarted the campaign with some new players and we just finished act 1 of a campaign I wrote myself. But one of my players had to split, so I’m looking for a couple of players to replace. I use Tabletop Simulator, so that’s a must have download before playing.
If you’re: Incapable of laughing at yourself A rules lawyer Thinking every encounter should end up with combat Trying to test every meta-gaming option that you’ve seen on Youtube ...then this is probably not for you
If you’re: Willing to make mistakes and role play it out Thinking being a part of a story is more important than a body count Capable of playing well with others (soooo important) Able to learn as you go, but at least have a basic understanding of what D&D is Actually wanting to embrace the old school pencil & paper methodology instead of playing with 3 laptops around you ....then this might be something that you can have fun with.
I’m in Arizona time zone (but 3 out of 5 players I have are on East Coast), so if interested, please leave a response/comment and general location, and I will set something up. Thanks for looking
Hi, is this one of the official dnd campaigns? I'm not a stickler for rules or even following a story-line exactly as per the book, I just really like how they are written.
Also right now Sunday is the only weekend day I have. My Mondays and Tuesdays are open though. Could change if I find another job soon.
I am definitely interested in learning more about your campaign. I currently live on the East Coast as well. Though I have been interested in DnD for quite some time, I have never played in a live game before. I had one small stint in a PbP forum on this site, but that didn't last too long. I would consider myself still fairly new to Dnd, but I am familiar with some of the basic concepts. Anything I may not be proficient in (no pun intended, but still pretty funny when I think about it) I am sure I will be able to pick up fairly quickly.
Thanks for offering to include players into your game :)
The campaign setting is in the Sword Coast region, but this is all hand written (story, narratives, combat encounters) by myself, so not “official” if you mean store bought. But rules are 5e and very little is changed (home-brew) although some throwback rules from AD&D are included.
I'm on California time, so no issues there until October rolls around. Sundays are usually my best bet when I'm free all day. I'd like to learn more about your game. I certainly do laugh at myself and try to make the story enjoyable for myself and others. I don't have Tabletop Sim yet, but I can easily get it if and when that time comes.
Some FYI.....So far with the 4 sessions we have played to finish act 1, the start time has been on Saturdays at 6-7pm AZ time, and the average session has lasted around 2.5 - 3 hours....late for east coast players but not ridiculously so. Most (5 of 6) players are over 40, but there is no age requirement or limit...it just so happened that way. Players all started at level 1 and are just at level 2 now. Everyone used basic PHB races and classes (no variants) and although D&D Beyond is used to create and reference, a character sheet (old school) is used for general play. I will get individual email addresses (no need to post here) and send the general table rules, rule mods and campaign play style (all Word documents) to people and see if interested after reading. Our planned continuation to act 2 is scheduled for Saturday June 1st. Thanks for looking and reading!
I am interested. I played may years ago in 3.5 days in my teens and 20's. Picking up again in 5E played in one game and it was badddddd! I am trying to find a more mature game. Sundays PM would work better for me but could possibly make Saturday work. I am in CST and would love an opportunity to play in a longer term campaign.
Hey I'm really new and I was looking for a fun group to join and really get into dnd. This sounds like a perfect group for me! Altho I may need some help getting started I would love to play with your group! I live in north east timelines and can be active every weekend. I'm 18 years old and really excited to play!
