I'm fairly new to the game. I had convinced some of my friends to play D&D, but since none of us played and I was the one that was into playing the most, I had to DM. It went okay, but since none of them were experienced, they didn't really get into it as much as I hoped they would. It's not their fault, though. They haven't even seen other people play and I think the improv aspect of the game kind of discouraged them from getting into the game. I think they were too scared and embarrassed to fully commit to the game and really play and explore as their characters. I basically had no choice but to railroad them because they weren't enthusiastic at all and wouldn't really tell me what they wanted to do. Heck, I don't even know if they paid attention enough to realize they could choose for themselves what they wanted their character to do. The game slowly fell apart.
The nest group I had, I got play as a character with a different group, but again, the DM was new and the rest of the party was as well, and the same thing slowly happened over time, where the DM gave us less and less choices and slowly made the story happen the way he wanted it to happen. That game slowly went from meeting once a week to meeting every other month, then not at all.
I'm really enthusiastic about D&D. I've spent more money on getting all of the books and miniatures and paints and anything D&D related than I'd like to admit, and I still feel like I've never even had an actual authentic game session! I'm fairly introverted, so I don;t make many new friends, which doesn't help the fact that I want to play the game more than anything!
I'm hoping to be able to jump right in to an ongoing campaign as a player, but I'm willing to play with anyone anytime at this point. I'd like to eventually DM, but for now, I'd feel more comfortable playing along with a party until I get a better grasp on the game mechanics as well as all the other knowledge and talent it takes to DM.
My girlfriend wants to play as well, but she said if there isn't enough room, she's fine sitting out. We live in East Nashville, but we are willing to travel anywhere in the Nashville area to play. We currently can't host, but it is an option in the near future if needed. Please contact me any time! I'm free most of the time right now, as I'm taking a semester off from college to save some money. We are both in our mid 20's if that matters, and we are very inclusive and tolerant people who are respectful of others and we want to have fun and make new friends. I'm originally from Philadelphia area, and she is a Nashville native. We aren't very social, so I feel like this would be a great way for us to get out more often. My girlfriend has some health issues that inhibit het from doing a lot of activities, so D&D could really help her have something that's easy on her body, yet lets her have something to do and to look forward to. Please reach out if you're looking for a player or two for your campaign!
Thank you for your consideration! I hope to hear from you if you are interested in including us in your game!
Hello, I currently run a sunday game via discord, we currently have 6-8 players that play every week on sunday eastern us time from 1230-430pm. We are currently playing in the Critical role campaign you can pm me or on discord Veldemer#1187
Thank you, but due to both of our experience, I'd feel bad playing via any online platform because I'd have to be more self reliant with the information I need to play, and I think I'll feel more comfortable playing with people in person in case I get lost or need help figuring out parts of the game I haven't encountered before.
Hello! I'm Lyss. I have some health issues too, and DND has been a nice respite for me. Does your wife have a DND Beyond account? I live just south of Nashville, I'm 21>30, and I'm hoping to meet some fellow nerds. I can't really run another campaign right now as DM but I'd love to hunt for a campaign with y'all as a player if you guys haven't found one yet.
