Experience: I am a long-time RPGer, but it’s some time since I Dmed. I also had a more play by post session than ‘normal’ ones.
Location/Timezone: GMT+2, and I prefer players based in Europe.
Availability/Schedule: preferred Saturday or Sunday evenings. I think we may play weekly or bi-weekly.
Game style: Roleplay.
I am gonna DM Eberron. Player characters are expected to be former soldiers of one regiment of Cyrean army. That does not mean they are obligated to e.g. take soldier background – they could very well be e.g. musicians that were conscripted into an army and played the regimental drums.
However, after the Last War ended and Cyre became a Mournlands, they are stranded in an increasingly hostile world. Their status as former enemies and combatants in Last War has made it clear they have next to no hope of ever being able to live honestly in remaining Four Nations.
This particular story starts when they reunite on the wake of one of their many companions from the Last War…, and will mostly play out in City of Towers.
This is going to be character-driven campaign. I have the overarching plot arch in place, and I plan to emphasize hardships faced by players characters, but I do not plan to push the characters in any specific direction.
I will also try to emphasive the more ‘modern’ feel of Eberron, and therefore I may make some beaucratic obstructions for my players. I mean: your options of making a living will naturally be naturally limited by work and residence permits, as will be any sort of great money transactions (e.g. asking priest for ressurrection spell is probably state-regulated). I don’t plan to torment and irritate players with that, but rather make this a narrative device to say something more of an unwelcoming world.
Who am I looking for?: I am mostly looking for players that focus on roleplaying – though it doesn’t mean you have to be so great at it! (However, I think sessions will include much more RP than fights, so I want you to enjoy it.) I’d also rather GM for people who show some initiative.
I would like my players to be 20+ years old. I am 28 y.o. myself, so playing with someone that much younger would probably be awkward. I would also like you to be able to commit to the longer campaign. I mean, I am not sure if this session will stand against the ravages of time, but I would like us to play well beyond our coronavirus-quarantine time.
If you are interested in this campaign, please tell me something about yourself, your pronoun, what character would you want to play as, your expectations, etc.; if possible, I’d want to talk with some of you before making the final decision. I would prefer to choose a group that would work together both as characters and as players – especially since I wouldn’t mind having someone to talk to and make friends with in the times of coronavirus ;)
PS. also, I want my players to be decent people: and that means that they shouldn’t be homophobic, racist, etc.
Heya, I am a veteran of D&D ( since the 3.5 days ) and have been looking for a campaign. I am a pretty eccentric guy, im an avid writer and actor though not much work now due to the virus. I really love to rp and have been a DM most of my carrier so getting into character is my bread and butter. My character without spoiling too much yet would be a bounty hunter conscripted to fight in the war or a half-orc warrior who served for most of his life. I only expect to see a wonderful world rich in characters and story, and full use of our characters backstories ( I hate when I put work and effort into a backstory to make my character real and the DM glosses over it, one of the reasons I became a DM )

P.S. I am so sorry I am U.S. Based but on weekends my schedule is super flexible so I can adjust
I would gladly have you, but I did some stalking and I saw you are 18. I aim for a little older group, so old folks like me wouldn’t feel so old. Nevertheless,I hope you will find campaign that will enjoy!
Now, since I began to receive ‘are you still looking for players?’ type posts: yeah, I am still looking for players. I am going to sleep just now, so you may very well presume that you have at least some hours before I will wake up, finish some work, etc., and I will get back to you :-) I am >not< going to fill roster of my players while I am sleeping.
Hello! Your Campaign seems really interesting to me as i do enjoy the role play aspect of D&D very much.
Also i have only a little experience with D&D so far (played a few sessions) i am very eager to learn all about it. I love the idea of building up a character with a story and see how he interacts with the world created and brought to life by the DM.
A little bit about myself:
I am 28 years old ( maybe 29 when we start playing since my birthday is right up the corner xD). GMT + 2 is my Timezone, witch seems perfect for playing together.
For my character i would go for a Wizard. I have yet to play one and the idea of eventually becoming Gandalf sounds really good to me. I would enjoy a story where the decisions of the group have consequences and impact the world we play in, maybe even change them depending on what we did, who we did it for etc.
PS: I also have a friend who is looking for a campaign, if possible i would like to bring him along.
Hey there. I'd definitely be interested in this - I've been interested in an Ebberon campaign since the book came out, but I'm running too many games already to take on DM'ing it myself. I've been playing for a few years and have a crap ton of characters thought up that are ready to join a campaign. I love a game that doesn't mainly focus on hack-n-slash, I get that is a pretty big part of what makes D&D but there is soo much more the game can offer than that and I'd be interested in playing in a game more RP-oriented. my discord is ralstonprime3714, and if it helps I just turned 28 my self a couple of weeks ago on Pi day (3.14).
edit/update: didn't actually notice the timezone, I'm GMT-7 i think (i live in seattle).
Xeronos – sure, sounds pretty good! Could you tell me more about your wizard? (You can DM me if you would prefer.) I could give you access to Eberron: Rising from the Last War sourcebook on DNDBeyond – and for now I am interested in your character concept to see how you would fit.
(Things to have in mind: you participated in fantasy Great War, you lost a country in an accident, your normal livelihood probably went up in flames, and those friends or relatives who survived are probably not better off. Oh, and you probably won’t be able to build your dream wizard tower. Heck, you could probably divide those experiences between three normal wizards. :-) so I am interested as to how those experiences shaped your character.)
ralstonprime – well, American timezones are OK if you are flexible. I mean, I plan to play on weekend evenings. However, if for some reason we would be forced to start a little earlier than normal, then it could be pretty early for you. Would that be a problem?
Now, as I have written above, I would also be interested in your character concept :-)
PS. Damn, I am less angry now about many GMs taking time to answer my messages.
Well as for my Wizard i thought of something like this:
A Wizard who likes to help others but also does what is necessary to archive a higher goal. One of his Quirks would be his overly high enjoyment of Beer, Wine and/or "special" herbs. After the torture of seeing his loved ones fall victim during an assault on his home town, he seeked consolation in thinks that would blurry his mind. He handled his situation better the more time past but the scar on his soul would never completely heal.
He likes nature and peace, wandering the land out of pure curiosity. Needless destruction, pain and abusement is what he dislikes the most. He is to act quick when he sees something like that.
That would be some of my ideas for the wizard :)
If you want to get in touch, discord might be the best way so here is my :
My knowledge with D&D is, in my opinion, above-average, both about Lore from the Sourcebooks and about the rules.
My timezone is GMT+1, I have my weeks and weekends mostly free, and I have my own copy of Eberron.
I like RP and developing bonds with both PCs and NPCs, although some exciting combat is always a plus, I can play anything the party needs I don't have a preference per-say.
For now, and until further notice, I would apply with a Warlock Human most likely, someone who struggles to keep their moral code due to his patron desires.
I have several ideas for characters but one thing I'd love to play is a stealth/court intrigue based character, perhaps a changeling arcane trickster or artificer.
I'm pretty experienced with both dnd mechanics and lore, aside from perhaps a few classes I haven't tried yet. I know some stuff about eberron and could watch some youtube videos to brush up on it even more to prepare for the campaign.
I live in NYC so my timezone is EST, but I'm pretty flexible in the hours I can play
I'm also 22 years old, and if you'd want to know more about me before the game feel free to ask
OK, so… by now I have chosen two players. I am adding players progressively – I mostly base this on the feeling of how well we’ll work together. I think I will have choosen the rest of cast (two or three players) by tomorrow :-) (That’s not an easy choice, though, so I am sorry for being so slow!)
It doesn’t mean you won’t have any chances if you will show interest in playing now. (Well, unless you do so after I’ll choose all my players!) If anything, I am thinking of instituting an age parity among my players so that we won’t end up as an all-‘OK, boomer’ playgroup with 200 years of experiences shared between us ;)
Xeronos, thanks!
Rxlr, sure, Warlock is cool, and I await more info. For now, though... What about you yourself, though? e.g. are you 20+?
OneWhoGMs, well, I think court intrigues will be next to non-existent in this session, though. I mean, you don’t easily go up from ‘potential war criminal, potential threat to civilized society’ to ‘celebrated member of a royal court’. Wouldn’t that ruin your expectations?
(also, I don’t mind either of those. What would your choice be, though?)
PS. I am adding 'please, state your pronoun' in opening post, so I can potentially avoid weird situations later on.
Hey, I would be really interested in participating in this group. My name is Timothy, I'm a 23 year old Engineering student, and I go with the "he" pronoun. I'm GMT-4 and I would be available Sundays pretty much all day. I have a warforged monk idea that I would really like to try out, but I'm willing to be flexible about it.
Hey there. I'm very interested in this group. I tried to write and run a big RP-focused campaign in Eberron, but my friends couldn't commit the time so it didn't happen.
I'm 23, male, he/him. I study political science and economics, so I secretly love bureaucratic intrigue. I'm in the United States (GMT -7), but if you're playing weekend evenings, that's weekend mornings for me.
I've been roleplaying since I was in the 4th grade, but I didn't get into DND, statistics-based games until about a year and a half ago. Before that, it was play-by-post group storywriting, essentially. My biggest challenge with playing DND now is that most of my friends want to play a comedic game. I personally want to be in a campaign that's like a good novel - yes there's funny parts, but mostly you get to love the characters, the narrative, and the world.
Most of my experience with DND has been as a DM. I enjoy it, and none of my other friends seem to want to do it very often. But I've been wanting to play more.
As for a character, I adore the lore of the Gatekeepers and the Shadow Marches, but they don't have a presence in Cyre. I'd love to play any class and would probably want to play something that rounds out the group - I see people have mentioned Wizard and Warlock already, so I'd probably go for something more martial. Like maybe a Paladin or Artificer.
If you have any more questions about me personally, how I might contribute to the group, scheduling concerns (seriously I have nothing on weekends right now - that's why I'm on this forum looking for groups), etc. feel free to send me a private message.
EDIT: I speak intermediate+ German (about a B1 or B2) German and lived in Austria in the summer of 2017. In case that matters.
OneThatGMs: well, sure, but becoming a hoarder of knowledge, both political and magical is a goal that may take up most of a campaign. Who are you now on 1st level? Some type of crook that has political ambitions?
Timpmmason: what about Saturdays, though? :-) and warforged monk would probably be OK as basic concept, though I’d be interested in what makes him/her tick. (I mean, ‘I am a monk, I forsake material gains, and I don’t even need food – and I only need some maintenance oil once in a three months’ doesn’t give me a hook :-) )
Well with my character I really wanted to do the Way of Mercy for him. He's only a couple of years old, so everything he's experienced in the war was only put into context for him afterward. I would say that his outlook, and why he became a monk, is that the he feels a great connection to many of the people he meets, but doesn't have a way of expressing it. He feels comradery towards people who are suffering, but he also feels remorse for his part in the war and what suffering he may have caused by it. I think that as a monk, and in his training to harness the energy within himself, he does find peace through helping others. I think his core mission in life is to try and repay the evil from his past with good. He was born with gifts of violence, and he wants to overcome that to some point. He's not going to be a pacifist, because he understands the cost of what a failure to stop evil means in the long run, as he once participated in it. Basically I want to find the happy medium between the terminator and C-3PO and start from there.
As for Saturdays, it would be dependent on the time of the meeting. I know that I'm always going to be pretty much free on Sundays that's why I was specifying.
I was thinking that perhaps my changeling character could have been an entertainer that was living as a half elf and was part of the public front of house Thuranni which consists of artists and entertainers. After some time the house would find out that he was a changeling, seeing as how a changeling would be very beneficial for stealth/espionage/assassinations they began training him to be a proper agent of house Thuranni and a bard. During the war my character for the most part would have done minor tasks for the house such as passing notes and causing distractions. Only ever fighting/killing when something went wrong and he needed to defend himself.
Also I've definitively decided my changeling will be a bard (college of whispers)
My character would mostly be a low ranking house agent that wants to climb up the social ladder.
I have more or less chosen my players and notified them. I am sorry for everyone that didn’t make the cut – and I have to tell you that choosing players was hard! I hope we'll meet in some other campaign in the future :-)

oh I guess what I meant to say was espionage, and as for which class I'll go for I might actually multiclass arcane trickster and armorer artificer
also I am male and identify as such
the basic character concept I'm going for is a spy for hire and hoarder of secrets/knowledge both political and magical
