I'm currently looking for another group to run, the game I was going to play in looks as if it has fizzled out. So running a game is the next best thing (forever DM curse). The game would start around what time we could coordinate on that day.
The campaign setting has now been determined, I've been doing this a while. It will be a sea based campaign, lots of island hopping, fishing, fish baddies, navy trouble, and ancient sea creatures trying to surface. Starting lvl 3, class and race restrictions are fairly loose, just anything homebrew must be approved. My games are more RP driven than most, and I mean that. You will have plenty of chances to show your combat prowess, but I like to test a player's mettle with diving into their character, (voices are always optional, I just want you to believe your characters actions).
I am looking for more experienced players, I love new players, but with this being a homebrew campaign, I want players to feel comfortable jumping into their rolls and the functionality of a detailed campaign.
Feel free to leave an application, (I genuinely hate how that word sounds). Just tell me a little about your history with the game and what you might be looking into running. Thank you for your consideration.
I have been playing 5e for about a year now. Most of that time was spent in two weekly campaigns. Both of which have recently moved online. One is a homebrew I find my self enjoying exploring it more than I do the main modules. That may just be because I joined the other campaign part way through.
Ideally I would run a slightly reskinned half-elf Hexblade. I won't write up the whole idea here but I will give a brief summery of it.
Instead of a malevolent entity the patron would be a family guardian spirit. The spirit would have certain standards my character would have to meet. Something like a family creed. The spirit and character would both end up being NG. Mechanically every thing would be the same.
Part of the character backstory I have writen:
Aaroni is the third son of the family. While he grew up going to court functions, he never felt particularly interested in the family businesses or politics. Instead he enjoyed the more martial pursuits and communing with the family guardian. Through his connection with the spirit he was granted permission to take up one of the heirloom weapons. He was called to by a saber. Through the saber Aaroni felt a deeper connection to his ancestors and was granted a number of boons. After reaching the age of majority he set off with his families blessing.
I like the idea, I'm definitely a person who really dives into a backstory. So I'd have a few questions, but I'm definitely glad to have you aboard my crew.

Hey there, my name is Austin and I've been playing for almost a year. I like combat, but the roleplay is my favorite thing about d&d.
I already have a character that might fit into your setting pretty well. Water Genasi Sorcerer (storm sorcery). His name is Finn (just a placeholder) and he spent most of his life aboard a pirate ship in the service of a human Capt. Hackman aboard "The Griffin". As long as Finn can remember he has worked for Hackman, preventing storms and securing safe waters to travel on, and looked to him as a sort of father figure, despite Hackman being a questionable role model. When a rival pirate crew, aboard "The Harlot" fell upon the ship and put most of the crew to the sword, but Finn dove into the water and escaped. Unsure of how to act without some authority figure guiding his actions, he is torn between pursuing the mysteries of his origin, who his real family might be, where they are, etc. and avenging the only "family" he had ever known.

My name is Lou and I have about 200 hours of 5e experience under my belt. I would love to join an RP heavy campaign that is at least looking to finish a storyline off. I've DMed and played in multiple online groups that always seem to fizzle out and I never get to see the end of where our story is taking us. Hopefully, that can be remedied.
If you're still looking for players, I can fill any slot needed. Tank, healer, support, I have experience with them all. I have a general back story for each character that I will just need to do minor adjustments to in order to fit into the world. And I can do this very easily during a session 0 or pre-session 1 "if we are not going to do a session 0".
I generally don't use homebrew rules in character creation unless asked to by the GM so all of my characters will be directly from source material.
Hopefully I can find a spot in your group. And if not, good luck finding the quality players that every DM deserves to have. Hope to hear from you soon!
Hey there! Can call me Bones or Birdie is fine too! I've been playing DnD for a little over two years now and enjoy both RP and combat, but I find RP more rewarding! I have a character that I've wanted to play for a while now, and this would be the perfect Champaign to have her in!
She is a Tortle Bard, who has spend most of her life on the sea, she worked her way up until she was eventually made navigator of her ship. I don't have much else for her right now, but she's ready to go!
I'd definitely be interested in playing in the game as well. I used to play D&D as a kid and then had to put up my dice as it became too difficult to get groups together, but hopped back into it within the last few years. I'm a teacher and I run a D&D club at my work as well as teach an elective for my school called D&D creative concepts to teach others how to play D&D. I'm passionate about it as a player and as a dungeon master as well. I'm currently running three other campaigns as a DM and 2 of those have been progressing for over a year while playing once a week. I'm also am normally a forever DM, but have really been looking to get to be a player in a campaign. I love RP in D&D and have always voiced acted out each of the characters that my players encounter and would love the opportunity to play out a character of my own.
If possible I would love to discuss your world and the concepts and lore around some of the basic aspects before creating a character for this world. I'd be happy to have the opportunity and would love to see how everything goes. Either way, I wish you the best of luck and hopefully, this campaign won't fizzle out!
Name: Zhu Kai Race: Apeling (Homebrew) Class: Way of the Sun Soul Monk (SCAG)
Backstory: Zhu Kai's peaceful home of Shuki Village was destroyed by a Young White Dragon named Crykel when he was only a year old. Rescued and adopted by Monks, he trained in harnessing his Ki under Roshi the Immortal Tortle to one day defeat this monstrous foe upon his eventual return. Now at the age of 8 (14 human years), he keeps himself occupied by participating in every fighting tournament he can find, for training and for fun. He has bright tourmaline eyes, and light skin mostly covered by golden blonde hair. He stands at 4 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 100 pounds. (He's based on Goku from Dragon Ball, if you couldn't already tell.)

Hi! I've been playing 5E for 3 years now and havebeen the DM for a monthly Dragon Heist Campaign for the last year and a half. Looking to flex my PC muscles, if you'll have me.
I'd like to play a Winged Tiefling Variant from the Sword Coast Guide. Monster Hunter Ranger with a sailor background. Will tweak backstory to fit setting. Originally he's from Moray in the Moonshae's.
Mantus Lust was born to human parents. Father disappeared soon after and he was raised fairly normal, though somewhat sheltered, in a modest country home on his mother's vineyard. He constantly prowled the coastline and was fascinated with ships and with the orcs and goblins that were a constant threat. The His Uncle took him under his wing and got him into the coast guard. His wings made him an excellent scout for his Uncle's cutter, Paladin's Prayer, and in the 6 months or so he was on board, he saw a few skirmishes against the orc tribes that threatened his home island and threatened to close the port responsible for supplying food and necessities to the island. They ran off a couple privateers as well. While on an inter-island mission a maelstrom was started by a planar gate. Mantus saw something enter this plane but couldn't make out what it was through the detritus of the storm. He was in the air scouting ahead of the ship when it happened and the storm had it's way with him. By the time he found what was left of the ship all that remained was shivered timbers and his uncle's tarpaulin hat. He barely made it to the intended destination. He doesn't know what the mission was so he can't complete it, but he can make a name, and some coin, for himself hunting monsters responsible for decent folks suffering and eventually return home to face his mother with the tale of her brother's death.
I drive a lot so I listen to quite a lot of actual play podcasts. Shared storytelling is my JAM. I'd love to join up and workshop the character some more.
Thanks for the consideration! John
