Hello all,
I have seen a TON of posts from people who are brand new to DnD that have never played a single session and are looking for groups to join. As a new player, it can sometimes be hard to find a group that is willing to guide you through all the rules and let you hone and develop your roleplaying craft. Having said all that, I am looking for 5 brand new players that have never played a single session of DnD to run through the Lost Mine of Phandelver adventure.
This group will be, as I said specifically for new players. It will be a place to get your feet wet with an experienced DM that's willing to help you learn. We will be using just the very basics of the Monsters manual, the players' handbook, the DM guide, and the Adventure Lost Mines of Phandelver. All characters must be created using only the classes/races in those books. You also must use DnD Beyond to make the character.
I will be running this group through a private discord server. I will not be using Roll20 or Fantasy Grounds for this play through it will be primarily the theater of the mind. I will, however, be using maps on discord to give an idea of the settings when appropriate.
If you're not a new player, please do not apply and take this opportunity away from a legit newcomer to our hobby. I really want to help grow our community.
If you are an experienced player and you want to try your hand at DMing, sessions like this are a perfect way to do it. If you're interested in DMing your own new player group, feel free to reach out to me and I will set you up with everything you need on my discord channel for automated dice rolls, maps, and everything else you could need to get the job done and start teaching others.

I have myself and 5 other friends that are new to dnd I have played one campaign but still fairly inexperienced same with one of my friends but the others are new.
we are looking for a dm to run a campaign for us, we are cst and are wanting to play Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon. We would like to play 5e on tabletop simulator anyone interested?

I've never played D&D 5e. When I was younger I did a few campains created by my father but they where using rules from the 1981 edition. I'm assuming that it has changed since.
I understand if this does not qualify me as being a new player but I am looking to start playing this edition and would love to play your game.

Hey there - I am interested. I have played quite a bit of Baldur's Gate/BGEE but never an actual DnD campaign. I've been building some characters recently according to Adventure League Rules, so the one question I have is if it's alright to use PHB + 1? The book I have in mind is SCAG. Either way all good. Discord is the voice app that I will be using to communicate, as well as broadcast maps. You can just do a google search for discord and download it. It's free and a very light weight program.
I really want to keep things right out of the PHB with no exceptions.
No problem! Got the SCAG for lore/backgrounds anyway. Still interested just let me know if there’s still room and a particular class.

Due to the massive amount of interest that has been shown I am going to run a second campaign. I am going to start a new post for that though and close this one down as all the spots have now been filled in the 1st Friday night group.
