This is an Epic Homebrew Campaign that is a crossover for my other campaign that I run on Saturdays. With all this extra quarantine time, I have more time to run another campaign. This is a Neutral / Good campaign. I do allow evil characters, but they will play with major disadvantages. When I say this is a crossover campaign is that I running this campaign during the same time frame and same location as my Saturday group, so there is potential for some overlap. It takes place in Neverwinter and players will begin at level 8.
TIME: Wednesdays from 5pm PST to 8pm PST. Starting on Wednesday April 15th, 2020; 5PM Pacific Standard Time
Limitations: If you don't have a mic, I can't accept you into the group. Same goes with Discord. No Bards, Arcane Tricksters or Warlocks No Tiefling race
Requirements: Mic and Discord required, no exceptions. 18+ only TTS (Tabletop Simulator - found on steam for $19.99)it is not required, but would help and benefit everyone if you had it. Some of my encounters would be more enjoyable in a setting using TTS as the map rendering software.
Expectations: Communication, being on time, preparation - If you can't make it, for any reason. Communicate with me. Its not a big deal, but forgetting or not showing up is a good way to see your character die. Even though we all have extra time, doesnt mean you can disrespect me or other players by wasting time, which also applies to the last one....try to be prepared. If you dont already have your character sheet up and you have to look it up when its your turn, then you arent prepared. Do that enough times and you may end up losing your turn. Now, Im willing to be flexible when players have wife/husband aggro, or kids or whatever. But, try to be courteous and respectful of everyone's time.
A little bit about me:
Im 35 years old from Riverside, CA (Pacific coast). I have been playing D&D for 25 years, or since I was 10 years old. I started playing with my dad and his friends when 2nd edition was new/prevalent. I have also played 3.5 to great length, but I prefer 5e, because combat is simplified instead of having to calculate all those feat-based effects. 5e stream-lines everything so that players spend less time calculating and more time enjoying the game. I have been DM'ing for about 15 years now and I have run 7 full length level 20 campaigns from beginning to end, with my longest being 5 years. Improvisation is the key here in the idea that the story will be told not just by the DM, but by the players as they make choices that change the world they live in. I love playing Clerics and holy-type characters with hints of piety and arrogance. Aside from that, I love to heal, so that plays right into my wheelhouse as well. That all being said, I think I have the necessary experience in running long and fun games, as well as accommodating larger groups. My saturday game currently has 8 players + the DM. So I have no problem multi-tasking and keeping each player's narrative up to date. No one should feel left out or bored in this game and if you feel like you are going that direction, then lets talk about it. But, before you join my game, be aware that I am trying to tell a story. There is a narrative and a grand campaign with 5 acts, 10 sessions per act. So, if you dont like the idea of being railroaded or being held to a narrative, then you need not apply. However, if you like the idea of being immersed in a story where your choices matter and where your freedom to choose is not infringed upon by story. Just because there is a story doesn't mean you are limited in your choices, it just means at the end of the day, I'm the DM and what i say goes and if I'm trying to tell a story, then I'm going to do that by any means that I deem necessary. That all being said, I think everyone involved will have a lot of fun with this as well as the Sand-box feature where you can explore the world freely. Below is a list of the items needed for character creation.
Location: Faerun - Sword Coast - Neverwinter City
Level/XP: 8 / Milestone
Class/Race: All races except Tielfing are playable, all classes except: Warlock, Arcane Trickster and Bard; are playable.
Character Sheet: 4d6 minus the lowest, reroll any stat lower than 10. No min/maxing please. You can place stats where you want tho. DNDbeyond character sheet required, no exceptions
NOTE: I have access to all the source materials that DNDbeyond offers and will share that content upon acceptance to my campaign.
Magic items/starting gold: Every player starts with 2000g and basic travelers equipment along with 2 weeks of rations/water Each player may choose 1 rare attunement item and 2 uncommon items + basic starting gear for your class
Please post your character in your response so that I know you are serious and I will determine which classes/characters fit the criteria.
SIDE NOTE: I may broadcast the audio portion of the session to my twitch feed for posterity. No one's faces will be shown, only their avatar and their voice.
If this all sounds like something you would like to be a part of, then again, please create a level 8 character and post it with the title "I'm interested" Upon acceptance, you will need to make a backstory of how/why you're in Neverwinter. The year is 1484 DR calendar. Looking forward to telling this epic story of adventure, intrigue, triumph and tyranny. The scope and the furthest reaches of your imagination await you. Come mortals, if you dare...bwahahahahahahahaha! :)
Evening! My name is Stranger, I'm in my 20s, and I'm very interested in this campaign. I have discord and a mic, as well as TTS (though I've barely fussed with it and have no idea how to use it, admittedly). I've close to two years of experience playing 5e (though over the course of many games, multiple in a week, because I have no life, so cumulatively it's probably more) and about a year and a half of DMing experience (my first game is still going strong and nearing its completion, which I'm super proud about!).
Having read everything you posted, I went ahead and drafted up a character I'd be interested in playing. His name is Wilder, and he's a character I've had for awhile but whose previous campaigns fell apart. He's a Hunter Ranger with a level in Druid (part of his backstory, which is easily adjustable to fit any setting). I had some frankly great stat rolls (but if you think they're too high I can always roll again or just lower them a little), and picked out the three bonus items, though I'm not 100% sure they'll be the ones I stick with. I wasn't sure if you allowed UA and the two uncommon items are (tattoos) so I can change them if you prefer not to use UA content.
If I sound like I might be a good fit for the group, but this character wouldn't be, I can come up with something else. Hope to hear from you - and if not, best luck with your search!
Hey Formatt, I'm interested in playing in a campaign like this for sure. The time frame is perfect too ( California as well). I have a lot of the playing tools, including fantasy grounds. My discord is Sark #2038m and below is the character I would like to play.
Quick question, because I am interested, but why the no Bard or Tiefling? Just curious as to if there's a story reason or just cause.
No tieflings because in this time period in my homebrew, they were either slaves or dead. As far as the Bard, Warlocks and Arcane Tricksters being locked out, they are OP classes. Warlock has Eldrich Blast, among other things that become very powerful very quickly. Arcane Tricksters are rogues that can cast fireball, among other irritating spells. Bards, for the same reason I dont use Tricksters, they have way too many abilities and too much utility to be a balanced class. Why be a cleric when you can be a bard that heals and shoots magic missiles? So yeah, they're banned and they're banned for balance issues.

Nice, I like Rangers. They're fun. Alright you're accepted. I'll make sure I get you setup and in the campaign by tomorrow morning.

I'm interested. Hey, name's Rasec, 20 year old male. Got Discord and TTS (though would have to redownload it since I haven't used it in a year XP), and figured I'd toss my hat into the ring~ Saw the current line up and thought it might be good to throw in a Cleric for support xD.
Ignis Kaisaras, Half Elf Life Cleric. Born a smith's son, he aspired for a different life and became an apprentice to his town's healer, often assisting them in lending aid to others, a task he often took joy in. As he grew up, his joy became a more philosophical outlook, and enthusiasm curved by numerous blood baths. While not one to shy away from a fight that is started, he seeks the "best" solution, that keeps people from dying. https://ddb.ac/characters/26829402/yO2a7B

Fair enough I guess.
For the character i'm thinking of, I'd like to play a Changeling Shadow Sorceress who is a lounge singer/performer by trade and fully takes advantage of the people's adoration. Whether it be by dining with powerful men, chatting with the girls about the latest happenings backstage, or creating a diversion with a little shoulder pout and a wink wink so their team can go unnoticed, shes your gal. Meet Dolores Van Garii.
Had to make it on an old campaign a friemd was running since I don't have everything unlocked myself(yet), so please let me know if you have trouble viewing it.
Hello, I am 19 years old, I have Discord but not TTS(might get it after seeing how the campaign works out). I am really interested in this campaign it sounds like it would be lots of fun however, I have zero experience with D&D so this would be my first. Really eager to learn however! I know some of the basics of how the game works but don't understand everything completely. I have always been a huge fantasy fan and this just seems like an amazing place to start.
My Discord is SilverEcho#7662
Would love to start off with a Paladin(but have a sorcerer as backup)
Sorry, I actually had to work today, go figure. Im trying to get invites out, but Im just barely getting home, we may end up either changing the day to tomorrow and then going back to wednesday, or changing the day entirely. It was just a fluke that i wasnt here today, its like the only day in the last month Ive had actually had field work. So, yeah. Working on it.
If you are still accepting players, I've been looking for a game to join. I haven't really played since 2E, but have the 5E books and a basic understanding of the rules.
