We’re a group of 5 looking to get a DM to play with us. Looking for someone with an imagination, willing to adapt to the players, and will build a world. We’re hoping for a long-term game with a developing story and definite character arcs.
Looking for availability to be Sundays at 12pm (EST). Serious inquiries only. Our scheduling doesn’t afford much flexibility, but we can discuss things if 12pm doesn’t work well.
I am a professional Dungeon Master. I've been playing D&D for several years and have crafted an individual homebrew world with worldbuilding and some of my favorite aspects of being a dm comes from building stories around characters and really delving into an immersive world with players. I take the game quite seriously as a result, but would be looking for compensation of $15 per person per session. The sessions I run run between 3-4 hours in length each time and mix a focus of fighting with role-playing experiences.
I roleplay each character players meet as well as utilize definitive battle maps either through roll 20 or I have a top-down camera which displays dungeon terrain and tiles that allow for me to utilize there dimensional battle maps that are in my own space for players to explore as well. I am fine with working with players on aspects like this or utilizing simply a discord discussion throughout any of this if theater of the mind battles are more your thing.
I know that the idea of paying for a dungeon master seems strange to many, but in terms of personalization and ideals, I put a lot of work into creating aspects for players to enjoy as well as creating sessions and environments that my players are able to create. The main reason I utilize payment for playing is simply this:
I put hours of work into my games and into paying for materials for dndbeyond as well as props, maps, and customized aspects for individual games.
Having players invest their time into a game means that they will take the entire process seriously and that they are invested in whats happening right from the get go.
Last the amount of 15 per session allows me to put money back into a campaign and make it even more exciting for players. I also look at it like this, "I pay anywhere between 15$ to go to a movie theater to enjoy an experience and relax. doing this is for longer and its interactive."
Those reasons aside I'm not asking for blind faith on this. For any campaign and game that I run, I don't require players to pay for the first two sessions in order to understand what kind of game they are getting into (This doesn't include the session 0 which I state is mandatory to know what players are looking for and to just know if personalities will mesh well or not). If players are interested in the style of play then the game can continue. If they aren't then people can part ways without any additional problems or complications and no one's feelings are hurt in the process.
If you are interested you can also look at some of the terrain pieces that I've used in the past and created and see if this is of interest to you or not. I appreciate your time and if this isn't for you I hope you find a dope time with another DM. Some of the best parts about D&D is getting dropped into a sandbox and seeing what players can build with their own imaginations and a guiding hand.
Hey, how's it going?. I have been DMing for about 3-4 years. I'm running a group right now at 1PM-4Pm (EST). The only downside for you would probably be there are 3 other players in the game. I don't mind taking on 5 others. The encounters work better with more people. Let me know if you're interested.
