Alright guys I'm taking the plunge. I feel like I scour the forums looking for someone who's running a game for me to join, I reply, I never get in. I make a post talking about myself asking if anyone is looking for players, no one ever responds. However, whenever someone makes a post that they're running a game, everyone and they momma responds, so here I am.
GAME INFO: New Homebrew campaign that I am going to be putting together myself. The story and world are still in the early stages right now because I'd like to incorporate the background of my players characters in the world but I can tell you that it will be an interesting story, that will hopefully cause our characters to question their decisions and whether they are truly doing the right thing. There will be an overarching plot but I'm sure it'll change as we play and you guys interact with the story.
RULES AND EXPECTATIONS: Expect it to be relatively 50% role play, 50% combat. I'd like for people to embrace the roles you're playing as i feel the game is more fun that way. I'm not saying you need to try to change your voice every time you speak but have some fun ya know. If your character loves shiny things, and you see a golden lamp that you're not supposed to touch, try and swipe it like your names Abu anyway. As for rules the game will be using standard D&D 5e rules, classes, etc. since that's the stuff that I know. Also we will be playing on the virtual tabletop Fantasy Grounds Unity, since that's what I have and using discord for voice [and hopefully music if i get good enough]. I feel like 4 to 5 players is a good amount, but if this post gets a lot of traction maybe I'll try to take on more. Im looking to play in the evening [6pm down] on EST. As for what day I can be flexible on that but lets aim for Thursdays for now.
ABOUT ME: I'm 26, from NY and under quarantine.........fun. But anyway I've played D&D twice as a player and I completely had a blast. It was really unfortunate that I wasn't able to play more. After that I tried DMing a game for my friends and they said it went really well so I have a little experience as a DM but I am FARRR from perfect. I hope that by running this game i can improve as a DM and have fun at the same time. Im looking for people who are around my age hopefully but as long as we vibe well it doesn't matter to me how old/young you are.

My favorite class is Warlock however I also enjoy the Gunslinger, Artificer, and Ranger.
As for a learning DM, I'm fine with it. I like to see what unique worlds are made. Or how a DM can make a pre made adventure interesting as well. Either way, it'll be interesting to see how it plays out if I end up in your game. Also willing to help with any questions as I am also a DM currently running a weekend game.
As for my abilities with roleplay and characters with unique backstories; I'm fairly decent with these as I do a lot of writing and world building. Especially as a DM.
Heres a few quick character concepts I've made for reference.
Gnoll Battlesmith - Found abandoned by a traveling caravan, they were raised as a pup in a civilized locale. The Artificer originally intending for the Gnoll to be a pet. However they soon realized they had no potential apprentice and so they undertook the monumental task of educating the beast that saw them as a parental figure. With great effort however, they turned the Gnoll into quite the gifted Artificer. With their mentor and adoptive family now gone, the, the Gnoll Artificer travels the lands sharing the knowledge they learned. Of course, the aggressive nature of a Gnoll isn't easy to tame entirely and the modifications to the old blueprints have now become the Gnoll's original creations. And the chaotic nature of the hyenafolk shows it.
Kobold Siege-gunner - Always fascinated by the alchemical unknown and tinkering with things they probably shouldn't, the kobold one day learned of the destructive power that gunpowder possess. Ever constantly creating bigger and more complex devices. Now a wandering sellsword that puts their destructive creations to the test.
Warforged Cleric - A long forgotten relic from a bygone age. Rediscovered and reactivated with no memories of who or rather what they were. A mechanical being of unknown origin with very little to no memory of their past other than a tattered old banner, and a single name carved into the steel chassis in runic tongue. A single glowing gemstone housing the soul powering the centurion.
Human Warlock - A man who was once a noble discovers a mysterious artifact of unimaginable power. Betrayed by his closest friend and left to die in the icy abyss in an attempt to steal said artifact. But as fate may have it, an unseen force answers the call to aid and grants the nobleman the gift of life and power, with a single command. The soul of the man who had disturbed the ancient force's eons long slumber.
