Experience: New-ish? I played about 3 sessions of 5e (Phandelver) before the group broke up, about 2 years ago. That was F2F. I've never played online. I've beenpicking up some game mechanics through watching online play, and I have access to legendary bundle so can brush up as needed. Years ago, I played plenty of AD&D 1e other RPGs.
Location/Timezone: CST
Availability: weekends
Preferred role: Player (I used to DM, but game mechanics are rather different now)
Game style: At least for the online games I’ve watched (Critical Role, Beyond Heroes), I’ve been attracted more to the storytelling and roleplaying elements than the combat. But I think as I learn the game mechanics more, I could appreciate the combat elements more. Back in the old days, I played in a game with several evil characters with selfish agendas. It wasn't my thing. I'm hoping for more cooperative play.
More about me:
Male, 55yrs, looking to play with adults (18+).
Discord user name is paw22#2739 – I’m new to Discord but use other interfaces for work regularly. I expect I’ll catch on fast.
Since winning a legendary bundle the very first time I watched a D&D Beyond livestream (crazy, right?) I’ve been designing several characters every week, thinking about backgrounds. I’ve read a fair amount of Forgotten Realms source materials over the years, so the character backgrounds are somewhat grounded in that lore. In the Phandelver game I played a teenage Half-orc cleric of Lathander. The last two characters I created for fun are a Lizardfolk druid (cast out of his tribe) and a human barbarian (and a grandmother, no less).
I don’t think it matters what class/race I play, if it is a matter of fitting into a pre-existing campaign, so long as I have enough info about the campaign to develop a character and background.
