I've been playing D&D for about two years now with mainly the same group, and it's been good, but I want to branch out and try something different. I'm specifically looking for a quiet group with a small number of players. I'm on the autism spectrum, and I feel overwhelmed by groups of people and too much noise, which has been an issue with my regular group. For this reason I'm only interested in joining groups with a maximum of four people (three players plus a DM); if the DM feels they can manage it without balance going wonky, I'm open to even smaller parties than that.
I also find the work of DMing too mentally taxing to do more than once in a blue moon, so unfortunately I'm not up to DMing a regular game. I am willing to help out as I can to take some pressure off the DM, though. For example, if one of the players -- or even the DM for that matter -- is new to the game, I could help them learn the ropes.
Under current circumstances, this will have to be an online game (I have Roll20, Beyond20, and Discord), but I'm hoping I can find a group in Toronto (downtown/east end, ideally) so we can start meeting up in person once we're all allowed to go outside again. Would like to play about once or twice a month. Saturday afternoons are my ideal timeslot, but my schedule is very flexible.
I'm open to playing just about any campaign, but I've mostly done homebrew so far, so I'm especially interested in doing some of the official adventures. In particular, I really want to play Ghosts of Saltmarsh and/or Curse of Strahd at some point.
About me as a player:
I like unusual character builds, often involving UA or homebrew, but I'm not a min/maxer (and I usually don't enjoy playing with people who are). It's more about exploring unique characters and playstyles. Ask me about my paladin with 8 CON.
Prefer games that prioritize story-telling and fun over militant adherence to rules as written.
I'm not full edgelord, but I prefer role-play that leans towards the serious rather than the comical.
I usually play support or damage characters (or hybrids that combine elements of both), but I can enjoy just about any combat role. Depends on what feels right for the character.
Super into Elves. Sometimes play other races, but never human.
About me as a person:
29, male. Turning thirty in a couple weeks.
LGBTQ+ and minority ally (or at least I try to be).
Been getting into cooking and baking, so if/when we meet in person, you can count on me bringing brownies and other treats from time to time.
Work part time as a writer/table-top RPG designer.
Curse like a trucker, but not okay with hate speech or jokes about/casual references to assault (not sure how specific this forum lets me be, but I think we all know the kind of jokes I mean).
I am also in Toronto (West). I feel quite similarly to your interaction limit. Sometimes too many people around me. But I grew out of it. The love for the hobby of d&d was stronger, and I even learnt English through d&d.

Thanks for the offer, but if I'm reading that record right, it seems like you have more than two party members for many sessions? As I said, I'm looking for a party with a maximum of three players (including myself). My issues with groups aren't something I can "grow out of." Believe me, I tried.
