My name is Jerry and I have been inspired by gameplay podcasts like Major Spoiler's Critical Hit and Geek and Sundry's Critical Role to get back into playing D&D. I am a veteran of playing different forms of the game, including table top with 2nd edition, and various CRPGs, like the original Neverwinter Nights series, the Baldur's Gate games and Planescape Oblivion.
I am working on a couple of concepts for characters at the moment:
- Xarrut, a human ex-soldier fighter. He is a veteran who wields great weapons generally and long reach weapons specifically. I am looking to head into Combat Master and Polearm Mastery. His backstory is that of a militia soldier that barely survived a battle against an overwhelming foe that still gives him nightmares to this very day. He looks for work as most fighters do, providing security services as bodyguard, caravan guard or bouncer.
- Mellorond, a half-drow sorcerer with draconic ancestry. He is a wanderer and explorer that grew up travelling the Underdark with his parents until his mother died in one of their travels. His maternal great grandfather is a silver dragon. He is an accomplished cartographer and is looking to find work with a travelling group in need of a map maker and guide.
- I also have rolled up a life domain dwarf cleric who is an acolyte of Berronar Truesilver and a dedicated healer, but I haven't fleshed him out completely.
Obviously these concepts can be reworked to reflect the specific campaign, but I'd like to be able to use them as they are currently conceptualized. I built the characters using the DnD Beyond character builder and the point buy system. They are all currently level 1, but can be "leveled up" for a specific campaign if needed.
I am looking to join an active PbP group in need of either of these classes. Please keep me in mind for any openings currently or in the future.
Hi Manick! I've only got one campaign running (via PBP) and it's full at the moment, but if you want, I can add you to the waiting list and also keep you in mind for future games I may run. It's nice to see someone post complete character concepts rather than just a few random stats or a generic "i wanna play plz pm". Sorry that I can't accommodate you right now, but with actual characters (and writing skills and proper spelling and punctuation) like that, I'd just bet that you won't have too many problems finding a game soon.
You may also want to regularly check the Play By Post section of these forums (daily probably) if you don't mind Play By Post and its sometimes slow rate of progress. DM's are recruiting there constantly and (most) games fill up FAST. Like literally, one day you're thinking of applying, the next day it's full and already started.
Hey, sounds good. Hope you manage to get in that game, or another. Roll20's another place to check if you don't mind doing online roleplaying in real-time. There are also games run on Discord, but recruiting for those is usually done outside of Discord, like on these forums for instance. Also, like I said before, I'll keep you in mind if I start another game. That may be some time though, because I've learned the hard way that DM-ing a game (at least the way I do it) takes about as much time and effort as playing 3-5 characters (combined) in other peoples' games. Even deliberately quit a PBP game I was in (which had lost half the players and seemed like it was dying anyways) to free up more time just to run my 1 game.
It's why I think there's always more people wanting to play than wanting to DM / GM. It's also why I encourage people who want to get into a game to be at least a little aggressive and consistent in looking for games to join. The timing to get into a game (especially when it's first come, first serve) can be really quite tight.

I've got a Kenku Warlock that I would love to add to a PBP game starting up. We get a few more players and a DM and I'm sure we can make this happen.
I posted a reply to the Serpent Isle PbP recruitment post in the Play by Post forum.
