Hi! Hope y'all are doing wonderfully, my name is Zeke. I'm from Texas, and am in the army (currently deployed) and have been waiting to find a group that plays online at the time y'all play which is 2000-2100 for me! Not to worry, though - I have consistent internet available where I am. ( I was mildly concerned my reply would be extremely lengthy but after seeing others are lengthy as well that was a relief!)
As for y'alls questions!
-I have a little experience with Dnd. My first campaign was about 4 years ago playing 3.5. I played with that group for a year before the relationship problems between the DM and one of the players became too divisive to continue the group. Since then I've played a handful of one-shots on 5e, and started playing a campaign with friends/roommates about two years ago that was never completed because the DM discontinued the campaign. I've read through the entire PHB and most of the DMG, but am very anti-rules lawyering. (Favor the DM makes a ruling and checks on it after the session and we find out the answer and roll with it corrected later on approach). All of my experience has been in-person and am new to playing online, but I'll continue that point in the next question.
-I do have a working set of wireless earphones with a mic, but if I were to join I'd acquire some wired earphones with a mic to avoid the battery running out while playing. I do have Discord, DnD beyond, and Roll 20. Lots of experience using Discord from other games (video games), I'm quite familiar with DnD Beyond, I've used it to build and play a character for an in-person game (an Aarakocra monk named Journey, she was lovely). As for Roll 20 I'm acquainted with the system and how to use it from playing around with it out of curiosity and from watching youtube videos on the system in preparation of the possibility of joining an online game due to Covid-19.
-The given time on Saturday and or Sunday is the IDEAL time for me. Although as a medic I'm technically always on call, I've no other obligations at those times (not on a crazy deployment if anyone in the group is military. TBH has been more like an OCONUS duty station). The only issue I could see arising is when I leave here (in a month-ish) and will be traveling back to the States. I won't know until it's almost time to go what days that travel will take place on, but am big on communication and would let y'all know if there was any conflict. (also I have a laptop that goes in my carry on and a hotspot so unless I'm flying during game time I'd still be able to play)
-When it comes to what I look for in a session, truthfully the answer is to have fun. Working with the party and fleshing out dynamics between the characters and character development both in personality and in levels/ability is the most fun. I love roleplaying (sadly I'm not the best with voices or accents but that won't stop me from trying lol). I LOVE combat, and the only issue I've had when it comes to combat in the past is when people aren't paying attention to the game or decide to take 5 minutes to take their turn because they don't know what their abilities/spells are or do. Puzzles are the only things I don't love, but that's not to say I'm against doing them, I just find that puzzles tend to break the flow of the game more often than not unless you have a high intelligence character that's controlled by a player who is masterful with puzzles (if someone playing a barbarian is the person who IRL is great with puzzles but character has an intelligence of 8, it breaks the continuity but helps with keeping the game going and I'm rambling at this point so I'll leave it there).
ABOUT ME Q'S
-So many points as to why I feel like your group is where I belong! I'll try to keep them concise:
-Party size: Games with more than 5 players present lots of roleplaying opportunity but slows down the game, so 4 players with a DM PC that likely pushes things along when the rest of the PCs get lost is perfect in my opinion.
-Your post addresses many points that I would have had questions about! (the length of the game run-time, what day re-scheduling happens when needed, preference of characters with depth over min/maxing, etc.)
-I'm assuming that y'all (or at least some) are also big on communication which I gather from the well-organized and clearly worded post!
-What I bring to the (virtual) table: Eagerness to play and dedication to making it to sessions. Enough experience that I don't need any hand holding, but not so much that I'm jaded or set in a particular way of playing. I'm saddened this needs to be said, but I'm not a selfish person or player. I want the team to succeed because our success is my success, and I want the entire group to have fun because positivity begets positivity (not that we can't have dark or serious moments in-game, but referring to inter-personal relationships). As I mentioned a couple of times, communication is a huge plus, and would like to think I hold up to my claim of being a good communicator.
-As for class! One of the questions I have that wasn't addressed is what campaign setting the game takes place in (also what level the new adventure would start at). In the small chance that the game is in the Eberron campaign setting, I have a character I very recently came up with Chip d'Ghallanda, a halfling Life Domain Cleric and Bard - I'll avoid going into detail as that's a slim chance. Any other campaign setting I would play a Paladin (it's a class I haven't tried yet but have been curious to! So far I've played a sorcerer, monk, fighter, and cleric). I don't yet have a race decided but honestly after posting this reply I'm going to work on a character here on DnD beyond that's a level 1 Paladin to see what inspiration comes to me :)
-I'm a gentleman. As I mentioned before, I'm in the army. Something I'd like to communicate up-front is that I'm a gay man (not that I'm assuming anyone in the group is homophobic) but I do want to communicate this in the event that is the case and avoid any issues.
BONUS QUESTION!
So I haven't yet taken the time to enjoy Critical Role past the first couple episodes, but I do look forward to watching it in the near future. I do, however, watch a couple other online streaming DnD games (Rolling Tides and Conundrum Company from The Welcome Inn and an unnamed campaign from The Arcane Adventurers). My favorite character from Rolling Tides is Braelus, a Goliath Barbarian who's a big ol' softie and trying to hard to learn to read under the tutelage of his wizard friend (honorable mention to Newt, an adorable Kobold Artificer). I don't have a favorite from the Conundrum Company yet. Favorite from the Arcane Adventurers is Zazriel, a Kalashtar Life Domain Cleric who's always calm and a peacekeeper (honorable mention to Malakys, Tiefling Rogue that I initially I wasn't a fan of but his cunning is winning me over).
I hope I passed my dazzle and amaze check, I added my proficiency bonus :)
We just have a few more interviews to knock out and we will need a moment to discuss before we come to our conclusion. Thank you all so much for your patience. :)
- What is your experience with D&D? I DM'd quite a few AD&D sessions during the early 80's during my middle school years and was a drop-in player for a couple of AD&D session's in the late 80's. Last year I got a desire to start playing again and bought quite a few of the new books and started relearning the rules, with the idea that I might start DMing again. I began the LMoP module as DM for my wife and had fun playing again. I also attended a few DD sessions as a 1st level Drow Wizard at a local store shortly before COVID struck.
- Do you have a working mic and are able to run Discord, DnD beyond and Roll 20? I have a working mic and headset and have the free roll20 account and have a dndbeyond account and discord account. Just started learning how to work with and manipulate the roll20 template as I would like to run DM campaigns at sometime in the future.
- Are you available on a weekly basis at the given time on Saturday (and maybe Sunday when needed)? I am available all day every Saturday and Sunday currently and for the foreseeable future. - What are you looking forward to the most in a session? (RP, combat, puzzles, mix)? I like a mix of play styles.
Now tell us a little about yourself; Why do you want to join our group? This will be my first foray into online D&D and I am a bit nervous, but also excited, about the whole process. I would like to give it a try and see how things go. What do you bring to the (virtual) table? I enjoy playing games of all types and have fond memories of those D&D sessions during my formative years. I am mature, laid back and easy going and I understand how hard it can be to run a campaign. Enjoying ourselves is what it is all about in the end. I am a substitute teacher and a tutor who took a break from getting my Masters in Teaching (Earth Science). What Class would you plan on playing? I would like to play a half-elf or wood elf Ranger but am open to group needs. Are you a Lady or a Gentleman? (We currently have 2 lovely ladies and 2 gentlemen)? I am a gentleman. Bonus question: Who is your favourite Critical Role character? I watched a little of Critical Role's Campaign 2 but decided I better finish watching Critical Role's Campaign one. As a newly returning DM, my instinct is to say that Mathew Mercer is my favourite character :). His depiction and voice for Clarota, the mind flayer, was particularly inspired. Frankly the whole group is amazing, and I love their interactions but if I have to pick one as my favorite I would say that it is Jester.
Hello everyone! This is Kagochi of the group speaking, and thank you for your patience. After several days of going through all of your lovely replies and having spoken with a lot of you, the DM and the group have found who we were looking for and a choice has been made. We feel sorry we couldn’t take you all but that would simply be impossible. However we are grateful for you taking the time to reach out to our post and we can understand it sucks not being the one that got picked. So, we hope you will be able to find a group to enjoy this wonderful game with soon and wish you all the best of luck.

Hi Kitsumeo!
Is your Avatar picture on here a fan-art of Nami from League of Legends or is that a picture of your Druid?
