Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: Any Location/Timezone: Any Schedule: TBD Roles sought: DM 3+/ Player 15+ Game style: (Adventurer's League).
I used to frequent my local store's Adventurer's League on Tuesday nights. After moving away for college, I am no longer near a store that hosts Adventurer's League. With lockdowns and quarantines, it's a hard time for many people to get out to their normal locations to play. So let's take it online! I am looking to host a community through discord and roll20 for standard Adventurer's League play. This includes full books or modules that align with current Adventurer's League standards. Before I dive too far into this, I want to know if anyone would be interested. Please leave a reply or private message me if you are interested in playing with us!
As far as scheduling goes, I would like to have a set day and time for a large number of groups to play as a normal Adventurer's League night would be at a game store, but I would love to facilitate 24/7 gameplay as well. The goal is to build a community that supports play and fun, regardless of location or time zone.
I'm definitely interested as I always have to play at times that most people aren't available to play so something like a 24/7 gameplay would be nice for me.
I don't know exactly what an Adventurers League is however could you explain how that works?
Adventurer's League is basically Wizards of The Coast's way of making an organized D&D format. Each season the rules change a little to center around the main story released that year. The best part is that this format allows you to pickup your character from one story and take it to another of corresponding level. You start from level 1 and grow your character through the various 4-6 hour modules or book chapters. You can stick with the same party, join another, just play every now and then. From more information see the link below.
"Private play including home play and online play. Published adventures themed around the current D&D storyline are considered official for D&D Adventurers League, so you can use those or adventures available through the Dungeon Masters Guild."
But would I be able to take the character to a con or other AL table and have it transfer?
DMs that run AL in gamestores are supposed to have a DMID so people can check against things for it to be 100% legal is what I mean by an official AL game.
I've been interested in AL games for awhile, but there haven't been any local enough to be considered viable. Scheduling permitting, you could count me in!
i also think it would be great to get a group discord set up for our session/planning. if you would like, ive got a discord server for ttrpgs, and im not playing any games there currently, so i can host,if you guys would be cool with it.
Hello, I am interested in playing. I am kinda new player (played couple of sessions already, so I think i might know a trick or two). However, never tried Adventurer's League before. After I have heard what kind of game style it is I wanted to try it out.
AL has some limitations on the class and race combinations you can play but if you enjoy D&D it is still fun. Figuring out the rules regarding gold and magic items can take some getting used to as well.

So, since this wouldn't be an official licensed AL character, why not broaden it and allow all books even if you're going off a module?
Since the players wouldn't be able to pick this character up and go to another AL table.
Well, it would be official.

I'm interested in a miniature based style of play, whether virtual or table top.
I have been DMing for AL for a few years now, you will be able to transfer to other tables with no problem.
And roll20 uses tokens for miniatures on battle maps. I'm sure you'll find it very similar.
is there room for another player? im rather experienced, and would like to get back into dnd after a long hiatus.
I'm looking to facilitate as many players as possible, we'll definitely have room for 1 more.

Peter do you have a link for a discord or a roll20 group for us to join?

I’ve been playing AL for several years. Would love to find a regular night to play during COVID.

Count me interested. Never have tried the AL stuff but I'm game. Available most week nights especially Friday's US CDT 1830 - 2300+.
