Hey all, long time D&D player lookin for a group on Roll20. I haven't played 5e yet because my group doesn't have the books nor the want to play, but with the release of DnDBeyond, I thought I'd give it a try.
Looking for a group and DM who can help me quickly get into gear with what 5e is all about and to have a fun game.
You can always download the free PDF versions from the main site. There is enough content in the basic books, and you can try the unearthed arcana stuff.

Hello Templar, I'm interested in helping you learn 5e, although I am kinda new myself. Just asking, do you know when this session would take place. Other than that, I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
You can always try PbP. "Play by Post" is a text based game where the story advances by post. The party uses a forum like site (like Myth Weavers, or Facebook), or a site that provides a chat room (like Discord, or Skype) where the DM makes an input, the players reply accordingly, the DM summarizes the results in a new post, and so on and so forth.
This way of play is slower but has the advantage of not requiring for the players to "be present" in a scheduled time. You can just drop by when you have time and use whichever useful device you have at hand...

If you want to know how it is like, you can check a story I run not so long ago in Myth Weavers:
