Hello everyone. I currently DM CoS for some IRL friends and have been looking to try to join a group to play as a player. I would like to do ToA mainly because my friends and I want to play that next and I would like to have a hands on experience before I read the book, as I won't be able to play it afterwards.
I would like to play a Lightfoot Halfling Rogue-Thievery, as I have an interesting way I would like to play. I make sure that all my friends know that it is extremely strange for a random group of strangers to come together and be the best of pals, so I personally create some situations where there would be some sort of conflict they have to sort through.
With that said, the rogue I have in mind is very much like Merry and Pippin from LotR, as he will do things he wants to do, mainly because he is curious and doesn't pay attention to risks too often. However, he has a high charisma and it will be very hard for other PCs and even NPCs to dislike him.
I have a pro sub in roll20 and know my way around that pretty well, and just want to find a 4-5 PC group to play with to experience the module as a player before I run it as a DM for my players.
I'm good most EST evenings besides Tuesday. 3-4 hour session is preferred, nothing longer than 4 though.
I'm preparing to run ToA on Roll20 within the next few weeks. So far, I only have one definite player and about three maybes, so I jumped on here to see if I could find anyone else who would be interested. The game is tentatively scheduled for Saturday (not sure if it'll be a weekly or every other week game yet) EST evenings. I've just now started coordinating with people, so I don't have a definitive start time yet, but 3-4 hour sessions are definitely what I am shooting for.
I am a fairly experienced DM, however this will be my first time running a module campaign. That being said, I've read through a good chunk of ToA and it has already got me super inspired. My games tend to have a good balance of seriousness and silliness, and I emphasize making the world feel alive during exploration and designing interesting encounters. I love when players bring interesting ways to play their characters, so you've already got bonus points in my book!
Saturdays are pretty much easy to make for me. However, we can discuss that further as you gain more solid players. I'm alright with every other week, but I'm good and prefer weekly if everyone else wants to. Either or is good for me.
Modules are great, they give you enough room to play around with your own ideas while still giving you a pretty solid outline for a decently long campaign. I also like silliness (hence my character) and seriousness in games as well (currently dming CoS which is a very serious setting).
My discord name is EXUnForgiv3n#8245. Hit me up.
