I'm a 5e DM of two years who is starting to get a little burnt out always being the one running things. I'm hoping to be able to play a character in a 5e campaign, of whatever length. I'd also be fine playing in a one-shot or very short arc; homebrew or module are both fine!
I am available Monday through Wednesday after 5pm US EST, barring Thursdays, as that's when I run my own campaign. Roll20 is my preference as that's where I have most of my experience with VTTs.
I am happy to hand out my Discord or Skype; Google Hangouts is fine as well, though I haven't used it much and may need help navigating it to begin with. I'm good with PMs to this account, so feel free to hmu that way if you want to discuss a game.
I can do this on mondays at 7:00-8:00, but on saturdays I can do it 4:00-6:30. I would not want to be the dm, but we could find somebody else to be the dm. Two characters is better than one, right? I don't have skype but I do have discord, so let's use that. I would want to be a dragonborn bard. (gold skin). I have a few questions though.
1: what are you going to be?
2: is it possible for you to do it on saturdays, or do only mondays and wednesdays?
please get back to me asap. my discord is hashtagdedwalrus #3788
I unfortunately do most of my working on weekends, so I can't do Saturdays without having to completely restructure my weekly schedule. Monday 7:00 - 8:00 works for me! I'm also free Tuesdays; edited my post above to clarify that.
I've been wanting to try out a Firbolg Druid, but I'd be equally happy picking up a PHB race or something else to compliment the party composition. I've been stuck as de facto DM so long being able to play any player character would be a nice change, so I'm not going to be incredibly picky.
I'm not sure if that was the link you meant to put there?
Regardless, if you have more info, I'd be happy to hear about it! Is a Highland Marches style game similar to a Westmarches style, or do you mean the 7th Sea setting?
ok so now we just need a dm. and i guess it would be the dm's choice, but I would be ok with a firbolg. I don't really know what that is, but as long as it doesn't give you +5 on every ability score modifier or anything crazy like that!
It's one of the races available in Volo's Guide! As far as I'm aware from my own time as DM, it doesn't seem to be overpowered; if anything its a little underwhelming, but the flavor for the race makes it fun. :)
Yep! I own all the released content for 5e so far (barring that pdf with the turtle people I think?); it made DMing a ton easier and gave me a lot to pull from. Volo's is a good buy if you DM and a decent one if you are a player - DM's sometimes ban some of the available races in the book from what I've seen though, so YMMV.
wow u have all the released 1s from 5e? including the adventures? I only have the Dm's guide and the player's handbook, the monster manual, and tales from the yawning portal. need the dm's guide AND the player's handbook b/c I run games and play players alike. both are fun. and I'm definitely going to get xanathar's guide to everything when it comes out.
Yep, the whole shebang, including beginner box, the two screens, and that folder with all the character sheets. my wallet hates me but i can throw all sorts of crazy stuff at my players now that they can't easily look up so its worth it on my end lmao. 5e has a lot of quality products out tbh.
I love dnd lmao, so for me collecting the books works out. And i do! I haven't gotten a chance to look through it yet since I only just got it, but it's in my possession. I also picked up the setting book that Matt Mercer released for his world Tal'Dorei too. good purchases all around.
That's a hard one; I'd have to say either LMOP or SKT. LMOP is a really great jumping off point for the other modules or even homebrew, and SKT has some of the best formatting of all the published storylines. It's also one of the most open, and has a lot you can take and re-purpose for other stuff. But I like all of them for various reasons; like I said, hard to pick lmao.

Hey Neonic,
We have several groups going in our Highland Marches campaign. We have a group going this Tuesday (Oct 17) if you are interested https://www.dndbeyond.com/members/Entropic83
I'm not sure if that was the link you meant to put there?

the link was to our DM's profile page on here. Yes it is a Western Marches style but it is called the Highland Marches..
