Jurney Into The Dark Skies

Schedule: (One Sunday a month maybe two; game time is at 3pm PST)
Roles sought: (Players need for long-term campaign, and we have 3 seats available for you)
Game style: (Theater of the mind and VTT where need and fallowing the three pillars of D&D)

Gam info: (This is a homebrew 5E rule-set and some content miss with a few other things, so some its lore will be like 5e while other may differ. The starting level is 4th with a 25 point buy for stats, max HP, max gold, and we are only doing core races with classes. We are building characters in D&D beyond; I set story line management in world anvil, voice is discord with VTT being Roll20, and may change over to Foundry VTT.)

World Content: (The world is a mix between treasure planet and stander D&D; the closest thing you find to it out there to it would Ebron. The basic idea being what if an industrial revolution happen do to magic and science instead of steam? This a mix diverse world full of swash buckling sky ships, magic, and great darkness, but you first must set sail into the open skies to find it. )

Ok this sounds interesting and fits my character preference as I love playing Half-Elf Rogue's with the Swashbuckler Archetype. So few questions, how long will the sessions be?.
What source material as far as rule books will you be working off of to build characters, specifically do you have the book  Xanather's Guide to Everything. 
When would be your planned start date.

I'm a 36 year veteran of D&D since I started at 16 and I have until recently ran an online PbP game for 16 years.
