Foundry homebrew game at 3 EST

Long ago, the world was green and bountiful. But thousands of years ago the world began to die and, if the spreading of sand was left unchecked, would have become one large desert entirely devoid of life. In a desperate attempt to preserve the world’s life for as long as possible, the Moon somehow shifted closer to the world’s surface and most surface water was drawn to one location, a city that would later be named Faun Adria. This would kill most of the world’s population, but would lengthen the span of the remaining few’s existence. It’s not a permanent solution; Faun Adria will eventually die as well in eons to come. However, some of the water trickled into smaller “green zones.” Those who were left to die by the theft of their water waged war against one another to claim these other territories.

For reasons unknown, most people who try traversing the desert will always return to where they started, no matter in which direction they go. This locked people into greenzones, stuck in the city where they were born until the day that they died. The exceptions are those that bear Dune Marks - known as the Dunewalkers - who are able to traverse the sands freely and move between settlements. Without Dunewalkers, trade and scavenging would be impossible and the world’s economy would collapse. This has made Dunewalkers treasured and coveted by the world at large, and awakening a Dune Mark spells immense promise and fortune for one’s future. There doesn’t seem to be any pattern to who manifests a Mark, but should one appear on your skin, you’ve been granted a great boon, but an even greater responsibility.

Hello! We’re a pair of DM’s who are aiming to run a homebrew game together on Wednesdays at 3 EST on the Foundry VTT. A setting info primer is here. A link to a document listing our house rules is included. We’re looking for five players. Before we invite you to the game. We’ll like to have a quick conversation on Discord. Please reply to this post with something about yourself unrelated to TTRPG’s and any character concepts you have (if any).

The primer says it, but to restate: we will not run this game entirely rules-as-written. We’re going for a good story, not a wargame.

Eldon: I started DMing 3e in 2001 at age 11. I enjoy science and philosophy. I’ll mostly provide scene descriptions and control enemies in combat. Nick plays in two of my other games.

Nick: I only started playing D&D 3 years ago and have only run 3 sessions as a DM in my life. That said, I have a very tight grip on 5e as a system and its rules. I have a lengthy background in theatre and as Eldon could vouch, I know what I’m doing as far as roleplay goes. I’m going to be the primary DM for NPC’s, and if you’re the type of player that likes DM’s to be hands on with character creation, I’ve got you.

Hello, I've been looking for another game to play. I am 21, and have about 2 years of 5e experience (both DM and player). You're system sounds really interesting and I think I already have a character concept. I must admit, I am less experienced than I would like to be role play wise (my current players like to joke out of character and speak out of character) but I have been trying to get better.
