Heya, I'm a rather new DM looking for anywhere between 3 and 5 players for a homebrew campaign called Chronicles of the Outlands. It will depend a lot on the characters' backstories, so make sure to write an extensive one.
Time zone is CET or GMT + 2. I'm available during the weekends, so friday evenings, saturday days and evenings and saturday days.
The game style will be a mix between roleplay and combat. As I said, everything will depend on your backstories.
Some info about the world: A few years ago, a new continent was discovered. It was made up of many loose isles loosly connected. A settling attempt was amde, and succesful, sending many humans, elves, dwarves and other civilized races to this new continent, now dubbed the Outlands or the Frontier by some. Over the years, settlers created bigger and bigger empires, charting the unknown and waging wars against the natives. Now, almost all of the Outlands is charted and most is conquered too. However, there remains one area still not conquered completely - an area called The Untamed Lands. And that's where you guys are.
Northern Alverk: Norhtern ALverk was forged by the fall of the previous Alverk empire. The northern part of Alverk was the aggressor, trying to get more land for themselves, as they live in a desert. The war is still raging and several ruins of villages and towns lie close to the border. Northern Alverk is still waging war, ever fighting for more land. Their capital is Verdesoul. It is primarily a fishing city, which is uncommon for the capital, but in the desert of Northern Alverk it is very profitable. The city is split into sectors, with different sectors being vastly different in terms of economy.
Southern Alverk: The southern part of Alverk was the attacked side, and they fought back only because they had to. They believed in peace and neutrality, a mindset they have been forced to abandon since the war with Northern Alverk started. Northern Alverk owns the path connected to the bridge to Feyain, so the Southern Alverk has to pay a fee to cross the bridge. Therefore, they invest more in sailing ships to find alternate routes to Feyain and beyond. Their capital is Evergray, a boring war-profiteering city that became rich after the war started. Everything here revolves around making the war easier - trading new weapons, sending mercenaries to take out strong enemies, everything like that.
Feyain: The trade capital of the Untamed Lands, Feyain is by far the richest nation in the Untamed Lands and up there with the top richest in all of the mountains. They've got fishing, logging, mining, adventuring as well as many trade routes, via ship or through roads. They lie in the middle of the Lands and therefore have easy access to the rest of the Untamed Lands. Their capital is He'Gredevar and the Southern Capital. He'Gredevar is a grandiose city, with some houses literally made of silver and gold. There are no poor people here, the poor live in other towns and cities. Here, only the richest live. The Southern Capital is made out as a secondary government, but the Southern Capital is actually where the real rulers live. On this isle they are hidden and any attacks would attack He'Gredevar instead. Southern Capital has much more poverty than He'Gredevar, and many beggars can be seen on the streets.
Zhefarin: Long ago, when the first attempts to settle the Untamed Lands, a faction of elves was made. They took particular interest in the woods known as the Zhefarin. When the first settlements started failing, the elves broke loose and conquered the forest. They built settlements of their own and fought the remaining settlers. The remaining settleres either were killed bu the elves or by wildlife or managed to escape. Then, the elves had just conquered the Zhefarin Woods when the third attempt was made. An attampt to thwart the settlers was made yet again, but it was failed as the settlers formed their first empire, Fayalin, which would later be called Feyain. The elves were fought back to the woods. The elves here are incredibly hostile to any non-elves, and are even suspicious to elven outsiders. They have built two walls, each of them covered by elven archers. The only way to get through is through the guarding villages. The capital of Zhefarin Ezernaf, a city practically only made out of wood. Most of it is carved trees, and in the center lies the Mother Tree, a 500 ft. tall tree.
The Frigid Lands: The Frigid Lands were located too far north to render hospitable for settling attempts. The frigid colds proved to much for most men who set up shop here. However, this means that iẗ́'s a perfect place to retreat to when escaping a crime. Not only will no one probably look for you, but they might even consider you dead. Although, the risk is high that you'll wind up actually dead. Because of this, many criminals, thieves, murderers, war criminals and other disreputable types reside here. The capital is Wintersoul, the only place in the entire landscape with warmth comparable to the other lands. This is due to a long dead wizard who once lived there. Rumours say, he was granted a wish, and he wished to make the colds hospitable. It worked, but the stress of the spell killed him before he could terraform the entire Frigid Lands. Regardless, the scummy types who migrated here set up the city of Wintersoul. It is actually a rather nice place, it has decent laws and functioning government. However, it's government is, you know, ran by criminals. This means that they will extend resources and power, but you need to contribute and you need to contribute a lot. Regular beatings by guards can be seen on the streets, and expelling people into the cold is as common as executing them. And, really, what can you expect? These are criminals running a society. Only the people who contribute to their power are left alive. It is said that they actually set up a farm there, but no one has made it there and made it back, or at least with their head still on their neck.
The Mecelver Isles: During the third settling attempt in the Untamed Lands, the natives were pushed away. One such group of natives consisted of lizardfolk, kobolds and other dragon-like creatures. They were almost exterminated, when a legendary draqgonborn named Mecelver saved them. He is said to come from a dead ancient dragon with the same name. He lead his people to the Mecelver isles. Some say he created the isles, others say that he found them with his draconic powers. Now, the Mecelver isles are only populated by lizardfolk, kobolds, dragonborn and other draconic-in-nature beings. Their capital is Mecelver, named after the isles because lizardfolk are not very creative. It is a bastion, with grand walls covered with ballistae and cannons. It is ready for any incoming attacks, as are all other towns in the Mecelver isles.
If you're interested, reply with either a full character or a character concept. Write a short draft backstory which will then be built upon during the session zero. Point buy or standard array for stats, normal starting equipments, level three, all offical races and classes but no homebrew.
Also make sure to join this discord server: Discord Server
i would like to play but am fairly new and can't play on Fridays and Saturdays because of religious reasons. and can not use discord
here is my backstory
has child once nearly lost and lost home now live in forgotten clearing with son and protect forest of Zhefarin and all lost kids but not adults. adults I will turn back or slay unless they can convince me they are a good person. I am kind yet stern. The enemies were humans settlers that killed my husband. i now live with children of all races i have rescued from death
Are you trying to do a strict weekly game? I'm a videographer so weekly availability varies for me so I wouldn't be able to commit to every weekend, but at least two weekends out of the month I could do.
Good backstory, but the fact that you can't use discord is a problem. Do you not have an account there? If not, can you create one? If you can't, what other online voice chats can you use? It is possible to switch which site we use, but it will be online.
Playing on sundays is fine, but only during the day because I have school the day after that.
We play via discord, I've added a link to a discord server to join.
The goal is to play weekly, but it's probably not going to be every week. Two weekends a month is fine, it also gives me extra planning time which is a plus.
dont worry i have to convince my parents this is a perfectly safe platform to talk to people. they are scared of cyberbullys. lol id now if i was being bullied
I'm new to dnd and have been waaanting to pick it up for some time. And i thought this campaign looked really cool so here i am. Here's my backstory:
From birth Aesar has always been a bit somber. He never really fit in with anyone. He was never bullied but also didn't ever have real close friends. But one day this would get worse. The two people in this world he loved the most, his parents, we're killed by a bandit trying to make some money. Since then he has had an obsession with making money.
Hello i would like to apply. I am gmt +1 time zone and here are my character sheets. I have. I can adjust them to fit them into your campaing. i hope you chose me.
This is my first time playing d&d. I've heard of it and I love RPG video games so I decided to check it out today at school during my free time and found this.
When I was making my character I was going for a charismatic sneak-thief that prefers to deal with his problems with a dagger in the back.
He was an outcast from the frigid lands for an attempted house robbery after his inside man ratted him out, now he makes sure he can trust were his tips come from.
He is a half-elf named Mikaiu (Meek-ah-you), he is very charismatic and is willing to play the long game if the score is high enough (he's willing to pose as a housemaid or something like that for years at a time if the take is really large).
I'm interested. I have some meetings to do for the next few hours but will provide a character backstory sometime later this evening or early tomorrow.
Alright, we've got 3/5 players now, evryone who wants to join please reply below (do not PM) with your character/character concept and I'll choose 1 or 2 people for the campaign
Sounds interesting. I personally can only play on saturdays, but if that's still fine, here is my character idea briefly.
A noble kid grew up loving to tinker with magical items. He lives in a town that primarily exports gems coming from a mine in the town. While he was but a teen, some raiders came to the town and raided everything, including killing his family though he managed to escape. Only armed with his knowledge of magical items and general noble stuff, he swears to one day get revenge on the raiders. Discord name is Hasax#8516
I'd like to state my interest. This timezone is great for me and from what it looks like we might even be in the same country. But i'm kinda only free on fridays n sundays, also I dont know what age group this is, I'm 22 and I dont know if that would be awkward.
So I took some liberties, please feel free to alter anything as you need to:
Ekard
"I awakened in a tomb, luxurious, adorned with many earthly treasures. Treasure, I assumed were mine. I awoke from a drea- a vision of disjointed fragments. Some pleasant, revealing a life of comfort and warmth and light, others revealing a twisted darkness festering beneath it. I see a kingdom vast and grand, made of gold and precious gems, glistening in the shades of orange and red of the sunset. I walk through a grand cathedral, flanked by older men who've clearly spent many years absorbed in thought and meditation. I see throngs of people, celebrating in the streets below as they look up to me. A large man comes to my side, covered in gold armor, they begin chanting at his emergence, he places a hand on my shoulder and smiles at me. I am thrown from a mount in the midst of a bloody engagement, a man lifts me up and I see a horizon filled with soldiers casting each other's blood to the ground. I see the man in gold brooding on a throne as I scream at him. I see the shining kingdoms streets littered with sick and poor and dying people, wailing for relief. I stumble into a lower dudgeon, lit only with a crimson pulsing light. I see a dark tower sitting alone in a desert, the sight fills me with dread. An Orb of stars descending over the wonderous city as the buildings of gold break apart and fly into the sky. A simple vile in my hands.
These are the visions. Aside from these, and my name, I know nothing of myself. Whether they be of things past or things to come, I know not. I emerged from my hidden tomb outside of a place the locals call Zhefarin. A city of opulence, a city that seems to be fashioned after the one in my visions, but not the same, no, not nearly as grand. I have spent the past few years selling off the items in my tomb to establish a good living and a measure of status for myself in the city. What resources I have left I have devoted to looking for clues that would connect my visions to reality and hopefully explain who I am and how I came to be here.
One such clue has finally come my way. A travelling merchant has brought me both an item and a story. The item is a breastplate with an emblem of a two headed dragon. The emblem of the army of my visions. The tale is that it was found near what he described as a mass grave in the Untamed Lands. The Untamed Lands, as I understand it, are rife with danger, so I have done my best to be prepared for anything as I embark on my expedition. The merchant tells me that there is in fact a small outpost on the edge of the Untamed Lands where people daring to venture in can potentially find travelling companions or hire bodyguards. I shall start my journey there."
Really awesome backstory, but sadly all the slots are filled. I could get you in as a replacement should one of my players quit if you want, but as of now all slots are filled.
i'm sorry my parents said i cant play with verbal communication so sorry but i will not be able to play without lying so sorry but i cant thanks anyways
