I am currently looking for one player to join an existing campaign set in the Underdark.
WHAT YOU GET
The party is currently six players - one is leaving early next year, so we are looking for a replacement. Everyone is LGBTQI-friendly, the player ages range from early twenties to early forties, and we have been playing together anywhere from one to three years. The campaign involves a rich, complex homebrew world, set in the Underdark. We are currently running online, using Discord and a mixture of theatre of the mind and Roll20. Once COVID has been resolved and it is safe to meet in person again, we will expect everyone to meet offline again - I host at my house and make sure dinner is cooked for whomever wants to partake.
If I think you're a good fit for the group, we will do a session 0 to discuss your wants, needs, and boundaries, and then a 1-on-1 session to establish your character and your place in the world, and to allow you to get used to my playstyle, before joining the group.
THE DM
I am 35, nonbinary, and have been running RPGs, including quite a bit of D&D across various editions, for over 20 years. I spend a lot of time creating my campaigns and allowing my players to play the characters they want to create. I spend a lot of time creating and painting miniatures, creating digital battlemaps, and making sure my world feels alive and like the characters have a role to play within it.
WHAT I EXPECT FROM PLAYERS
I expect my players to be:
Creative character-builders Your character should be more than a player avatar - they need to feel like a living, breathing, sentient creature with hopes, dreams and flaws.
Great team players You aren't looking to be the star of the show. Instead, you want to create an interesting story with the rest of the group.
Committed to the group and the game I spend a lot of time on the story and the world, and I expect players to respect that time and commitment. In turn, I expect players to be punctual, show up for the game, and respect other players' time and effort.
HOW TO APPLY
Please DM me - don't reply to this thread - with the following:
Your location, and whether you are willing to play in person.
Whether you can commit to a weekly game at the given timeslot for the foreseeable future
Any personal information you feel comfortable sharing - age, gender, background, etc.
Your experience with D&D and RPGs in general
What you are looking for in a game
Your favourite experience in a game, and what made it so great
Your least favourite experience in a game, and what made it work out badly
A skill from "real life" that you apply to playing RPGs
Any questions you may have
Preference will be given to members of underrepresented groups in the RPG community, and I will reply to all DMs which provide me with the above information, within a week of receipt.
