I am an experienced DM, but I'd love to lend a hand to any DM who wants to spice up a game. This could be me playing an NPC, a temporary villain, or a chaotic party member that either betrays or stalls the party, or just needs help with coming up with an encounter or a continuation of a story. I'd like to help anyone out.
Player characters if you want some ideas for either character development or ideas on how to make you DM either love you or hate you I can give you some tips. It's also fun just to talk to someone about your stories and characters and I'm down to listen or help anyone. Just send me a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Hi there, the name is Charms. I am a Player myself, never tried the DM side, not sure if I want to try yet because I'm just sticking my foot in the game :) but definitely willing to learn some new things :)
Hey Charms I hope you have been having a good experience with the game so far. If you haven't played too much yet then its ok. It does take some time to get used to how the gameplay flows and how to interact and react with the DM and other players. If you ever think about trying to DM it's definitely not that bad. When I first started I wanted to be a player, but I couldn't find a group to play, so I started my own group and I DM'd. Of course it was terrible cause I barely knew the game and I threw myself into the big chair. I will say I am glad that I did that cause it helped me gain a better idea of character creation and how to improvise in quick situations. Now I'm not telling you to give it a try I am just giving you a brief history of where I started.
Something I'd recommend is making sure you go and have fun in the world that has been created for you. Do what you would like with the DM's permission of course. Get creative in all situations, sometimes the most logical isn't the most fun. When creating characters think of what and how you want to play and build a character with that in mind. Keep the ideals, morals, standards whatever you have in mind for the character consistent. Follow what you set for yourself don't let others sway how you play. You control your character so whatever you say or do goes. Create a good background that you remember and follow that way the DM can tie your past and make the story more binding to your character.
If at any point you feel bored or uninterested tell your DM and tell him what would make it more enjoyable for you. Most DM's want to tell a good story that you enjoy, so if you aren't enjoying tell them what would make it better, cause even if you have played for years there are new things everyone could learn. Even I am learning new things still and everyone plays different. Just have fun and enjoy what you do. Ask questions and keep note of what is happening the DM will usually reward you for keeping note of the lore or of character he creates for you to interact with. DM's sometimes put hours into creating the world for you to explore and fall in love with, so explore and fall in love with it.
If you have any specific questions about things feel free to ask. I hope you enjoy playing and gain a love for the game as many of us have already.
