Edit#1: I will upvote your post If I seen and read it. Edit#2: better phrasing and updated the game style for more information
I haven't played any TTRPG's in about 20 years. I played AD&D for about 6-7 years in the early to mid 90s. Had an awesome time playing with a great group of friends. I've been tryting to get back into TTRPGs and D&D 5E specifically. I'm 37M and pretty much open to any type of campaign. I've tried to answer your questionnaire but my answers are lacking. I haven't played in too long to really know these things. Anyway, hope you and your group will consider me. The schedule that you've outline would be great for me - 7 PST Wednesdays. I know there will likely be a learning curve for me and I hope that's okay. I have read through and own a lot of the sourcebook material though - I wouldn't be jumping in blind.
An example of an experience I had that was really enjoyable would be playing Council of Wyrms 2E. It was just awesome to play as dragon PCs. It opened up so many possibilities compared to regular 2E. There were bigger/badder enemies to fight, there were council politics amongst the dragon clans, and we eventually home-brewed the world to be bigger than the box set. Cool experience.
I don't know that I can adequately answer your next two questions. I just haven't played in too long.
I do enjoy roleplaying. I'm terrible at it. I always liked to try though.
I enjoy longer campaigns but the longest running campaign that I was a part of was probably just shy of 2 years.
I am willing to commit to a long term campaign.
In terms of story, I'm pretty open. I think that if you're running a long term campaign you would need different story flavours. I can get into all of the stories you've outlined - political, revenge (if it's there), BBEG fights, etc.
Also a returning player, i was mainly playing 3.5 back in school, but after moving to Oz and loosing my RL group I drifted away from tabletop, but recently i have been wanting to get back into it.
I am aware this puts me a little behind but i am happy to get to grips with 5e and try my best to hit the ground running. I am willing to fill various roles for the party, but generally play some form of caster. I like to think i bring some fun and humour to a group and just hoping to to share an enjoyable time with some fun people. I am 30 and very comfortable with mature themes, although i am not really interested in being an edgelord.
7pm works well for me as i work full time and am fine if sessions run a little late
Give an example of an experience you have had as a player that you personally enjoyed, and an experience you have personally disliked as a player.
Going back a long way, cant even remember what we playing, we were given a sidequest to investigate a local cult. Our party was evil and someone had the idea to start our own cult and start a war with this cult in order to drive it out into the open. This results in a quick investigation quest turning into several sessions of us recruiting members running a cult and coming up with insane rules. Ends up with our cult being taken for the one we were supposed to investigate which we promptly pretend we infiltrated it and sell it out to the local church.
I dislike railroading, example which comes to mind would be a campaign were we met the big bad 2-3 sessions in and the DM refuses to allow my ranger to take a shot at him while he monologues about his plans. If his back is turned and as far as i can tell he has not taken precautions this was the perfect opportunity and i cant see why my ranger wouldn't take the chance to end this evil right now. the shot could fail, he could have normal immunity or multiple reasons why this would not work, but just to refuse to allow it was the issue
What have you enjoyed in previous campaigns that you wish occurred more often in other campaigns?
Personally i enjoy player freedom, i appreciate all the work the DM does but sometimes the party just decides to do the dumbest thing possible, and i am fine with the party facing consequences for its choices
How would you describe yourself as a player? I like to have a good time, i've played in several groups over the years and am happy to match the mood of the party. I do tend to come up with unconventional solutions, but i prefer to think of it as genius rather than madness Do you enjoy role-playing? Thoroughly Do you enjoy longer campaigns that run for many sessions? Yes, gives me a chance to dig into my character and explore a setting
Are you willing to commit to a long term campaign? Yes
What type of story do you look for in a campaign? Do you like political intrigue, a personal revenge driven story, fighting the Big Bad, saving the world, a small adventuring group trying to make a living, or anything along those lines.
Intrigue definitely. Personal revenge less so as i often find character motivations tend to peter out a little after that, same with saving the world. I would always so with a nation or regional threat as it gives you somewhere to go. Small time is fine as well, you dont need to save the world to tell a good story. If im playing with some fun guys and the story and characters are enjoyable then everything else matters a lot less
Personally I prefer a darker tone to the story as i do think that any person who decide to go out and adventure for a living have to be little mad in some way to consider this way of life
Questionnaire Give an example of an experience you have had as a player that you personally enjoyed, and an experience you have personally disliked as a player. One of my favorite moments was stalling a band of barbarians with a Silent Image of a wall of stone that confused them for a round, buying the rest of the team time to dispatch other enemies. This surprised the group because I'm a rogue and they didn't know I became an Arcane Trickster. Worst moment while playing was when I lost patience with a teammate playing a rogue and they were having their moment inspecting a trap. I stepped in and disabled it myself. I was rude. I regret how I behaved and apologized for it. I don't plan on repeating the experience and have patience to let others have their moment. What have you enjoyed in previous campaigns that you wish occurred more often in other campaigns? Party members creatively using their skills cooperatively to bolster a scenario to give advantages in an upcoming battle, A-Team style. Like helping fortify a location for an oncoming horde of goblins or something.
How would you describe yourself as a player? Creative problem solver that's comfortable with violent answers Do you enjoy role-playing? Absolutely. A different personality every time I play. I typically DM and can switch voices and attitudes with some facility. Do you enjoy longer campaigns that run for many sessions? Yes. I like plot and character development and having the opportunity to portray growth through adversity.
Are you willing to commit to a long term campaign? Yes.
What type of story do you look for in a campaign? I love a good epic campaign that includes building up a stronghold and a trade economy of some sort.
Questionnaire Give an example of an experience you have had as a player that you personally enjoyed, and an experience you have personally disliked as a player.
well, that time I tamed a T-rex was pretty fun. Mr.T was a great buddy. And as much as taming a T-Rex was awesome that campaign was a bit of an letdown challenge wise. everything seems to work out easily and there was no real challange.
What have you enjoyed in previous campaigns that you wish occurred more often in other campaigns?
Unknown character growth. during one game I didn't realize till later how much my character changed from the First time I played her to the last
How would you describe yourself as a player?
Normally with words but I could attempt to write a song, maybe a interuprative dance...But generally i am a laid back person that likes to roleplay, can get a bit distracted but that is most people Do you enjoy role-playing?
Yes, though I kinda hate my voice Do you enjoy longer campaigns that run for many sessions?
Long as they can keep going with everyone making it to game.
Are you willing to commit to a long term campaign?
yes

Preferable one that keeps me interested and talking about it even not during game.

Hope you have a good dday and even if i don't get in hope the game is epic
Hi there, I'm not sure if you are still looking for players, but I'm in the market for a group! I've been playing for about a year and absolutely love it. I know you stated that you are currently looking for Wednesday, but that is literally the only day that I have booked.. I am free any other weeknight. If that doesn't work, no worries! Below are my responses in case we can work it out with the date.
Give an example of an experience you have had as a player that you personally enjoyed, and an experience you have personally disliked as a player.
My character talked her group into going to a gladiator match to watch and bet on the matches. While placing some bets and talking up the sports book, I ended up volunteering to fight in the final match, and won! The best part is my character has a big man on campus complex which fueled my ego. Things I have least like are mostly when there are out of game distractions and side conversations that interrupt the flow of the game.
What have you enjoyed in previous campaigns that you wish occurred more often in other campaigns?
I'll be honest, I've only played one campaign through, and guest starring for a few sessions in another campaign... But I do like description of environment and when someone does something excepcitonally well.
How would you describe yourself as a player?
Engaged, true to what my character would do in any given situation. Im here to have a good time, and hopefully find some like-minded dnd friends
Do you enjoy role-playing?
Hell yes! I've done many years of drama, and this feeds my creativity need well. Do you enjoy longer campaigns that run for many sessions?
Yup! I'm not looking for a short term campaign. My other campaign has been going for more than a year and we play 1x per week. Haven't missed a session yet!
Are you willing to commit to a long term campaign?

What type of story do you look for in a campaign?
Honestly anything that is fun, engaging, and will throw me into a new world.

Give an example of an experience you have had as a player that you personally enjoyed, and an experience you have personally disliked as a player. My character pickpocketed the weapons off of a Balor before combat started. He was a pacifist so that was all he could contribute. It made that combat interesting for me
Dislike? I had a time where the DM clearly fudged the rolls to make my cleric go down for clearly story reasons. I think that if the story is good enough, it doesn't need to be fudged to happen.
What have you enjoyed in previous campaigns that you wish occurred more often in other campaigns?
Decision Impact
How would you describe yourself as a player?

Hello! Haven't played DnD in a while and really want to get back into it.
Give an example of an experience you have had as a player that you personally enjoyed, and an experience you have personally disliked as a player.
I really enjoyed when a DM allowed us as a player for us as players decisions to have impact on the story. I disliked when some of the players were put on the back burner for other players and it was clear that some of us were getting railroaded.
What have you enjoyed in previous campaigns that you wish occurred more often in other campaigns?
I enjoyed when I had impact through my decisions.
How would you describe yourself as a player?
I'm pretty laid back and enjoy roleplay.
Do you enjoy role-playing?
Absolutely!
Do you enjoy longer campaigns that run for many sessions?
My favorite kind of campaign!

- One time in a different campaign I had a Aaracokra Bard/fighter, I failed a performance checked, in game and in real life, I made the dm laugh so hard it was funny. - We argued on where to go and I didn't care for it. What have you enjoyed in previous campaigns that you wish occurred more often in other campaigns? - Heroism, not the spell, but the action of being one
How would you describe yourself as a player?
- I am willing to go with the flow, slightly new, I have a few campaigns under my belt. If I mess up please tell me. I am wanting fun moments in campaigns. Do you enjoy role-playing?

- Yes
Are you willing to commit to a long term campaign?
- As long as there are not rule sharks.
What type of story do you look for in a campaign?
- Any. Just don't doom us to have a bad fight or us to die at the end.
Hi Athera, I'm really interested in wanting to be apart of your campaign and in good hopes you chose me for it. I'm currently running a campaign of my own, but I like to also play as a player, and my campaign session does not interfere with your chose session time. If you feel like having me being apart of the group, my discord it: SpanJaguar88#3343
Give an example of an experience you have had as a player that you personally enjoyed, and an experience you have personally disliked as a player. - When I played back in high school, an experience I enjoyed was having my 400-500 lbs tortle paladin climb into a tree and sleeping in it for the night, rolling a nat 20 for Acrobatics. A experience I dislicked was having my character killed off at the start because of the players I was with. What have you enjoyed in previous campaigns that you wish occurred more often in other campaigns? - I just with for the same thing I always enjoy, being a really good group with good communication.
How would you describe yourself as a player? - Myself as a player, I feel like I contribute as much as I can for the group, and I always let whoever is talking to talk first before myself. Do you enjoy role-playing? - I really do enjoy role-playing, having done some role-playing in previous campaigns. Do you enjoy longer campaigns that run for many sessions? - I enjoy any kind of campaigns, either the long term campaigns, or one shot campaigns, as long as I can enjoy them.
Are you willing to commit to a long term campaign? - If I can fix my schedule to have it set to how I like it, then I am willing to commit to a long term.
What type of story do you look for in a campaign? - Any story works for me.
Hey there, I'm interested in trying out for a RP Heavy Campaign. I play D&D for the emotional highs that come along with it. Good stories. Great characters and those times when you succeed in dire circumstances out of sheer luck and the roll of the dice. I look forward to hearing about more about this Campaign, if I am chosen. Discord is Cross#6073
Give an example of an experience you have had as a player that you personally enjoyed, and an experience you have personally disliked as a player.
I'm a big fan of the emotional beats in the game. Like when my Ranger discovered that his Mother had survived his village being destroyed by an invading Horde of Undead, or when he had to put down his Undead Younger Brother, after slaying the Undead General. Another, is when my Human Fighter spent a night, drinking and sharing woes with a fellow adventurer before boarding a ship, only to find out that they were targeted and killed in the middle of the night and he could not let his anger push to start accusing people left and right.
Moments that I've truly disliked in games, is when my character is made to be the butt of the joke by the DM or when I'm railroaded through RP or choices. In once instance, a DM decided that it would be funny, that after surviving our boat being destroyed at sea, and the party washing up on a beach, that not only are all my Warlock's equipment was missing, but also his pants, which the party than began to comment about my character's "Wand size". Or the worst part after that? When I found pants later on, in an abandoned magic shop, that were "Cursed". The cursed required my character to openly Flirt or Make a Pass at the nearest party member. That was infuriating. What have you enjoyed in previous campaigns that you wish occurred more often in other campaigns?
A bit more details in actions, descriptions of characters and locations. Most people just state their class/race and etc, but they don't go over their manner of dress or things that they do. There was a game that I was in, that I felt as if I could picture what the DM was describing and it only pushed me to meet their eye for detail. It was really immersive.
How would you describe yourself as a player?
Easy going and friendly. Some people say I have a bit of a rough edge, but I'm all soft on the inside. I like building stories and want to engage in the worlds presented to me. I'm willing to help those who need it and I can be funny, or so I try to be.
Do you enjoy role-playing?
It's the only reason why I play D&D. If I wanted to play a combat simulator, I'd play Warhammer or something similar. I love telling stories
Do you enjoy longer campaigns that run for many sessions?
If it's a good campaign, I love them. I've been in both bad and good campaigns, and truthfully, I'd prefer to stick around for a good one. If I'm feeling it isn't a fit for me, I'll thank everyone for their time and be on my way.
Are you willing to commit to a long term campaign?
I am, though my work does make my schedule somewhat erratic. If I am not able to come to a session, I would inform you as soon as possible and would request for you to continue the session without me, either with someone manning my character or just having them go into NPC mode.
What type of story do you look for in a campaign?
I'm open to most stories, though I would say that I'm not entirely a fan of crime stories or those where there is only shades of grey and no right choice. I'd prefer to play ones where there is a clear cut of good and bad and we're on the side of heroes. Something less bleak.

- One time in a different campaign I had a Aaracokra Bard/fighter, I failed a performance checked, in game and in real life, I made the dm laugh so hard it was funny.
- We argued on where to go and I didn't care for it.
