Onu flashes his brightest smile and lays a hand on top of the flustered halfling's hand, patting it paternally, 'Now, now my dear, no need to start negotiations before their due, I'm sure Miss Thornton here appreciates our initiative in looking to help keep the surrounding area a bit safer for her current and future patrons.'
"Dinner!"replies Arty. "And you're buying. Least you could do after luring an old man all the way out here without sending a proper carriage to fetch 'em. Must've walked 100 miles to get here, 200 if you count all of the ruts in that thing you call a road out there!"
As the enthusiastic group of adventurers goes to leave Arty raises an eyebrow and turns in their direction. "You youngsters aren't serious about going out looking for a dragon, are ya?"
Once the rest of the group had been ready to set out to Halia's, Demetrios was ready to follow behind, up until Lilly began to drag him to the front. The halfling was stronger than she looked! The act itself earns her a chuckle from the paladin, and he doesn't make an attempt at stopping himself from getting pulled.
Just before exiting, he hears the older gentleman speak in their direction. "They seem serious about the treasure portion of it,"Demetrios gives a sheepish smile and a one shouldered shrug. "So... maybe not looking for the dragon... It might find us first. You're welcome to come along though!" He throws in before getting pulled out the door.
When they entered inside the establishment, the paladin allows the others to take care of the talking, hanging back to observe them. If it looked as if they needed any assistance in convincing the woman further, though, he would step in and assist.

"Unless someone who knows better keeps an eye on 'em! What'ya say, Daran? Shake the dust off those old bones of yours? Hehe You probably know this area better than most, eh?" “Dinner!? At Arty‘s prompt, Daran would hum, pursing his lips for a few moments. “Ahh… To be ‘young and dumb’ again eh?” He’d muse out loud. “But to judge and consider counting them out…” The old warrior would bring his hand to his face to scratch his chin in thought. A small scoff would leave him when Art would try to volunteer him to join them. “Aye, you bring me enough trouble.” His brow would raise.
“Sure, I know the area. But I’ve got my Gauntlets full with some issues at the farm, Arty.” His voice was sure and his eyes were serious. “I took a risk coming out here for ‘dinner’.” He’d pause. “Phandalin needs risk takers right now.” Daran was firm. His serious expression would lighten for a moment. “And it sounds like the perfect gig for you, pops.” A low chuckle would escape Daran’s lips as he’d wink and give Arty another encouraging slap on the shoulder.

"Them apples get the best of ya again?"asks Arty in jest. "Suit yerself, not sure those skinny arms could lift yer sword anymore anyhow. Alright Daran, well yer off the hook on dinner this time. I best be off before them kids are half way up those mountains out there. I'll come show those apples what's what for ya when we're back." With a slap on the shoulder of his friend and an appreciative nod to the innkeeper Aremis heads upstairs for his gear and then out into the streets to find the younger adventurers.
"Miner's Exchange, Miner's Exchange... ah yes..."The old man heads off down the road to ensure the others are there and waits patiently out on the street with his pack and quarterstaves ready to go.
"Them rotten apples keep coming back..." Daran would grumble. His eyes would narrow in a challenge to Arty's 'skinny arms' comment. "Come back when you're a seasoned team and we'll see 'what's what'." But the halfelf would loosen up a bit with a low chuckle when the man would return the clap on the shoulder. "Then I'll treat you all to a meal." He'd call out after his friend.
Toben would return from the back with his arms crossed and his brow raised. Daran would sip innocently, then tip his mug to down the rest.

"Miner's Exchange. Yes." It was almost an echo of the old man. Light rustling could be heard followed by a hint of a rush of air.
Miner’s Exchange - Inside
Placing the scrolls on the counter, Halia steps out from behind the counter to prowl. "Heroes come to answer the call?" She'd circle around the half-elf with a careful head to toe glance as she'd make her way to the sweet halfling. "And how may I address you, darling?" Finding herself before the bright young redhead, Miss Thornton would bend forward and bring her hand to her face thoughtfully. Grey hues studied the halfling as if she reminded her a little of someone. Pupils light up further should she catch a glimpse of the gem in her possession.
Lilly's Eye of the Tiger! If she took a minute to inspect the gifted gem from the barmaid or allows Halia too:
Tigers Eye Gemstone Golden brown tiger's eye is said to help convert anxiety and fear into practical logic and action. It is also believed to promote balance and strength in difficult times, and to relieve doubt.
Legends about this mineral said that it repelled undead and restless spirits, but had never been proven to be true. Regardless of this lack of evidence, the legend generated demand for tiger eye to be powdered and used in inks to mark caskets, sarcophagi, and tombs to prevent the dead from rising, and as an ingredient in potions of undead control.

Halia's eyes would then snap up to the paladin, giving him a scan.A knight stands firmly, confidently quiet no less, at her side.
The blonde would stand back upright, piercing silver eyes would find Onu's. She'd return an appeased expression with a sly smile of her own. Halia would turn her focus back to Lilly and with a playful pop of her brow, she'd nip her lip with a hum. "Hmm..." Her boots would click on the floor with calculated steps, backing her towards the counter. Placing both hands on top of it, she'd pull herself up onto the counter and cross her leg over the other. She'd slowly drum well manicured fingers against the surface as she casually bounced her top leg.
And after what felt like days, the woman would break her silence. "I believe we can come to a mutual agreement, Miss Lilly." Her smirk would reappear. Reaching a hand back, Halia would thumb through her scrolls to pluck one from the pile. Giving it a playful toss to flip it in the air, the cartographer would catch it with practiced ease. She'd reach it out to the group with a wry smile. "This will get you started." With a bat of her eyelashes, she'd lean forward insisting. "You're welcome to visit any time for personal updates, my heroes."

KD, you were not as prepared as you thought you were for all the wonders that existed within the shop. Though, one thing was for sure, you could now study the groups very own copy of the map. Perhaps it could inspire you to work on or improve a skill in the future.
Whomever Takes the Map Halia's practically purring. She's in a good mood. Hanging onto the map for a moment, she'd whisper to you. "Just leave 20 on the counter before you go."
KD squints here eyes shut in frustration at missing the moment once again. She tries not to look at Onu, but she shakes her head imperceptibly. She rifles through one pocket, and then another, and down the side of one boot, and in a fold of a shoulder pocket in her cloak, and runs a handful of coin through five fingers. She quietly sets the equivalent of 4 gold pieces (in silver and copper) on the table's surface underneath one hand, pauses, makes shrewd eye contact with Halia, and lifts her hand, revealing the coin there. She nods, nearly grabs the coin back, nods again, and turns to look at the group.
"I think this map is good, and I hope this investment is better. So. Where to first?"she says. "Warn the dwarves? Get inventions from Gnomengarde?"
Demetrios had been confident in the groups ability to convince the cartographer in giving them a good map for a fair price, and he notes how easily Lilly and Onu had worked together in doing so. Good teamwork, you two, he would compliment. His back straightens further when he notices Halia's gaze over him, the act reminding him of how his higher-ups used to scrutinize his stance any moment they had. He clears his throat and gives her a warm smile when her eyes would meet his.
With the duo's success, Demetrios set's down 5 gold pieces aside KD's coin, giving Halia a respectful nod when doing so. When the rest of the coin was obtained and she was ready to hand the map over, had no one wanted to be the map holder for the time being, the paladin would extend his hand to take it. "Thank you, Miss Halia. This is quite a beautiful map and your assistance in the further will be much appreciated."
At KD's question, Demetrios takes a gander over the map. "Hmm... Well we could definitely make a stop at Umbrage Hill heading to either of those other two locations... Though Gnomengarde is closer in distance relative to that. So I say Gnomengarde, but if the group would rather warn the dwarves first, I have no qualms with that."

"Miner's Exchange. Yes." It was almost an echo of the old man. Light rustling could be heard followed by a hint of a rush of air.
Raising an eyebrow, Artemis turns to see who spoke and caused the strange rush of air.
Lilly was not that versed in the actual uses of magic ingredients, but the stories about repelling undeads were common subject of the adventurers tales and she both appreciated the gift (had to leave bigger tips - for apparent reason Lilly was never stingy but in this case more were truly deserved) and a touch concerned by the meaning of it. Were they about to run into undead? Anyway, selling that gem was out of questions, she would rather spend her last gold.
"Lilly. Lilly Longfoot," she was about to do curtsy but instead bowed her head (she was not dressed for curtsies), answering to Halia. Then realised she was still holding the gem on the open and tackled it in the pocket closer to the heart (mental note - need to make a pendant at some point). "Yes, we did come to answer the call!" It sounded a bit pompous, may be, but was the truth nevertheless. The next phrase Lilly did not finish, because - wow! She was lost studying that beauty for the map. "It is truly great!"Exclaimed the halfling and walked to the counter not even thinking about haggling. Some things are truly worth their price.
Initially Lilly left 6 golds - with Demetrios' and KD's it was 15. But if nobody rushed to add more, she would add missing 5 too (after all, it was for the good luck and the good thing).
"Gnomengarde," nodded Lilly to Demetrios's explanation. "Lets start small." (Pan was not intended at all - not from the halfling, obviously) And though the gnome's task did not look easier, but "closer" seemed more important at the moment.
Onu returns the proprietor's look and gives the slightest nod. As the group begins stacking coins on the counter, Onu makes a show of dipping into a purse tucked into his belt, pulling out five golden coins and stacking them neatly on the counter. He then spins on his heel and addresses the assemblage:
'Well, my friends, shall we be about it? Our brave knight here has suggested a course of action and I have no reason to question his judgment. Are we all ready to set about?'
Halia wears a delighted smile as one by one, each of you invest your hard earned gold. She'd also give you a respectful nod as you make eye contact. The cartographer remained quiet as she'd watch you all discuss your next steps.

Arty, you catch sight of a birds silhouette flying off northwards from the Miner's Exchange.
As the party steps out onto the street, Onu spots the straggler from the bar, the old man who refuses his drink and held back as the party left.
'Ahhh! I see you've changed your mind and decided to join us on our glorious quest. Glad to have you my friend, we've secured a map and we're ready to set forth - unless anyone needs to grab last minute supplies?' Onu turns to address the rest of the party with this last question.
"Could have sworn that bird.... well that would be a first..."mutters Artemis to himself while looking up at the sky.
As Onu addresses him, the old man is startled just a bit. "Wha...oh. Oh hello again. No, I... well yes I suppose. Listen, do you lot know what you're getting into? I heard talk of dragons and treasure and such. In all my days I've found that trouble, in this case perhaps a dragon although let us hope not, is the much easier of the two to find. You all seem to think it works the other way round. So if you're going and looking for, well, treasure it seems, perhaps it'd be best if I come along too, that's all." Artemis seems not to have been too sure what he wanted to say or more accurately how he wanted to say it, but nods affirmatively when he's done, satisfied that he got his point across.
