"Well you are an upstanding citizen Yamblin, you will be the first to hear from us once we have returned. One more thing though. Who would be able to give us information on the mineshaft at the outskirts of your town?" Lord Darcio asks the jovial tortle as they are about to leave.
(OOC: To be clear, Lord Darcio only has 25 gp but is willing to lend them if needed for anyone to buy that leather for instance.)
"I can take some of the flame liquid," Alasse chimes in. Looking at the leather armor she says, "Unless anyone else should have need of it, I shall take the armor. Maybe it can also help in this desert." She pays the tortle and as she leaves the store starts humming a tale of a clever woodland animal
Gorgo opens his eyes and rises, following Alasse out of the shop. With battle imminent, his excitement is palpable. Periodically he hops from clawed foot to clawed foot, ducking behind his shield and jabbing out at imaginary foes with his spear, something like a prizefighter shadowboxing before a big match.

Keeping in the background as the others strike a bargain Brilyn moves to look at the leather.
I would be interested in this leather. She takes out a small bag of gold for Yamblin.
Here you go.Handing Yamblin 30 gp As a wise man once told me: Its better to go off well equipped and short of coin than the other way around. she says with a smile.
After Brilyn receives the leather she will walk out of the store.
(I take it Yamblin has more than 1 leather? is this something to wear over the armor or is it armor to wear itself?)
“I think Oran would have the most information about the mines. He has a small shop at the end of town. It used to be a mining shop before the mines closed down. He can probably give you the information you desire.” Yamblin says to Darcio.
Yamblin turns to Brilyn. “That is a wise piece of advice indeed.”
(Yes, Yamblin has multiple. It is something to wear over armor. More of strips of leather than won’t burn. Can be wrapped around your face, body, or even certain objects.)

"Let´s pay a visit to Oran then. We need to know as much as possible about that mineshaft. Perhaps he even has a map of that mine. That would certainly become handy." Lord Darcio says following the directions of Yamblin to the mining shop at the end of town, presumably in the same direction as that mineshaft.
(OOC: Hm, the leather seems like a good investment. Can Lord Darcio borrow 5 gp from someone to buy one set for himself before facing the fire-wielding bandits?)
(OOC: Sure. Gorgo knows anyone who's first name is "Lord" would be good for it)
Gorgo is reluctant to spend his shiny gold - it is the nest egg for his horde, after all - but seeing the rest of his allies picking them up he decides to spend the 30gp as well. (marking 35gp off the sheet).

"Agreed. A map certainly would be helpful but it might be outdated, especially with any... renovations made by the bandits." Cyrillus walks to the door, looking over his shoulder to see if the others are following.
It probably isn't the best to split up in this town while bandits are lurking about. With that in mind he walks out of the store and waits with Brilyn and Alasse.
Darcio (and anyone else who follows), the mining shop is not hard to find. Walking in the direction of the mine shafts, it is one of the last small buildings on the main street of town. It looks rather run-down, but there are also some burns on the side of the building, and a few gaping holes in the wood that seem fairly recent.
Upon entering, you notice that the shop doesn’t look like it’s been in use for years. There’s dirt on the floor, and most of the surfaces carry dust. There are old signs hung up on the walls advertising mining gear, though the text is hard to read now. There are mining tools and gear on the sides of the shop, and also they seem rather high quality, they look like they haven’t been touched in years. The desk on the left side of the shop is blackened and burned, and behind it is seated a dwarf wearing full mining gear. He is grumbling to himself as he reads an opened book. He looks up as you enter, and looks surprised. In a slightly bothered tone, he says, “What are you here about?”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"I´m so sorry to intrude upon your reading master dwarf, I´m Lord Darcio Heartshade and I require your help. My associates and I are going to the mineshaft at the outskirts your lovely town to take care of it´s bandit infestation problem. Now you wouldn´t have a map of the place? Any knowledge you can share would be helpful and we will make sure this town would know of the contribution you made to the cause." Lord Darcio says, casually looking over the room. "Come to think of it, is there any epuipment you would recommend for this visit?"
Persuasion with help from Azrael: 26 (meh, use lucky feat to roll again 24 nevermind :-P )
Brilyn will wait at the door while Lord Darcio speaks with the dwarf.
Looking around it would seem the dwarf does not have a map Brilyn will try to offer (if allowed) a piece of parchment from her Forgery Kit and some ink to write. Perhaps you could draw a rudimentary map if you do not have a map?
When Oran hears Darcio’s plans, he laughs a bit. “Good luck with that. Those bandits have really done a number on that wonderful place.” The dwarf looks down at his book again. “I did have a map—plenty of ‘em. But part of my shop was burned not too long ago—probably by those bandits, and I lost all ‘em.” The dwarf seems even more surprised as Darcio continues. “It’s been an awful while since someone has asked me for equipment for mining...most of mine is old but it would still work.” You see the dwarf’s eyes light up with passion as he continues, “You probably need protective gear, if you don’t already have it. In case a mine caves in or somethin’.”
Oran looks confused when Brilyn brings in the parchment and ink, but begins to get to work on a makeshift map. His hands move in a trained way—it is clear he has done this before. His pure muscle memory has memorized each stroke of the brush. “This may take me a moment...do you folks have any questions about the mines? Or even the town? I reckon I am the top authority on both.”
"Oh, yes, consider me a novice in the mining department good Sir, please tell us anything you would think we should know about entering that mineshaft and what equipment we would need to navigate it safely. We would also like to know a bit more about this lovely town. How is it goverened for instance? An last but not least, what can you tell us of these bandits, numbers, leadership and so forth?" Lord Darcio continues while carefully studying the map drawn before him.
“Mine Master Dwarf, what has been the bandits greatest crime? Have they killed any softskin beloved of the town? Have they burned a bakery that made delicious sweetbreads? Have they stolen any relics of great importance? Gorgo asks because when Gorgo skewers their leader on his mighty spear, he would whisper to this villain that his death comes partly from his commission of this great crime. Bandits final moments will be self consideration and regrets for his misdeeds. Then Gorgo will finish him.”

Addressing Darcio, Oran says, "That mineshaft has mostly been out of commission for years, the wooden posts should be falling apart, so you'll probably want some protective hats. I have some metal helmets if that's what you'd like. If that's indeed where the bandits are, I'd expect there to be traps, so keep your eyes out. If the bandits are smart, the mineshaft won't be lit. You'll want to bring torches."
About the town...it's a mining town, always has been. Got established some six or so decades ago, when some large veins of silver and gold were found in this otherwise barren desert. People flocked, and the town thrived on the trade of gold, and a community of dwarves settled to make masterful tools from the fine silver." It is clear he has told this story many times, his lips moving as absentmindedly as his hands as he draws. "But silver and gold don't last forever. About ten years ago, most of it was gone, and tourism and trade stopped. We've always been under the rule of King Yukras, but when he joined the Uktathian Alliance, there were mercenaries sent here to take the remaining silver, as it was deemed important for war supplies. We've always loved the Yukras rule, but we are supposed to be better than this, better than those of the Empire that just...take what they want with no moral consideration." The dwarf pauses for a brief moment, in both speaking and drawing, taking a deep breath before continuing on. "Anyway, as far as our town governance goes, we've only had two or so mayors throughout town history. The second of which was a woman named Haldra Crestfall, who was a human woman who was a very good mayor of this town for multiple decades. But when the Alliance took our remaining silver supply, our only real source of trade and income, the town's prospects plummeted and Haldra's name fell into disgrace. It was deemed her fault, and under the pressure of the humiliation, she stepped down and...well, I suppose she is still alive. No one's seen her in months. Supposedly, she lives as a recluse in a hut outside of town, but I'm not sure I believe that. Apologies, I'm rambling. Currently, we have a town council that makes our governing decisions. It has three members, and they're all fairly well respected. There aren't many decisions to make in a town like this, so they serve more of a ceremonial purpose, I suppose."
"I don't know much of the bandits. People say there's about a dozen, maybe less, maybe more. They're using some of the mining equipment for their weapons. Aside from gold, there is another component that was found in the mine, which is a very flammable dust. Good for lighting bright torches and whatnot, and we didn't think it'd ever be useful for anything when we found it, but they've found enough of it in the mine to make explosives of some kind. Not very complicated, but they certainly work. When they walk around town, or at least when they arrived, they seemed to be led with a larger man than the other bandits, holding an axe of some kind. That's all I know of them, though."
To Gorgo, he says, "Their greatest crime? Well, they demanded all our gold pieces. When not all of us were willing to provide them, they did something quite terrible. We had a mining legend in this town. We called him Great Stowbeard, and he is actually one of the namesakes to our town. He was a great dwarf, the one who discovered the mines. He is revered in this town, and he has a statue in the main square. You probably couldn't even see where it was now, since they tore it down and burned it, saying if we didn't give up our gold, we'd meet the same fate."
And after multiple minutes of talking and working, Oran has finished the map. It is rather well-drawn, and descriptive. It shows the main mineshaft, and how it branches off in a somewhat methodical way to connect to other mine paths. "I hope this map treats you well. If you want any mining equipment, I'd be happy to loan you some, if it comes back in one piece."
(OOC: Wow, that was a lot of information. Sorry for all the long text. Also, I'm still working on the actual digital map I will attach later, but until then all you get is a description :-)
"Most grateful good Sir, we will borrow some of those protective headgears then, and some torches. About your Haldra Crestfall, would you say she was bitter over having to give up her position?" Lord Darcio asks the dwarf after he finishes his map.
(OOC: No problem DM, great work there :-) grab you helmets and torches folks. I guess Brilyn will take the map and take point while in the mine scouting and looking out for those traps. Perhaps Cyrillus should be up ther with her while Gorgo, Darcio and Alasse stays back a bit?!)
The dwarf nods, and puts out some of the metal mining helmets. They're a bit old and rusted, but they're still well-made. He also places some unlit torches on the desk.
"I'd say she was indeed bitter. This town was practically her life's work, and suddenly, it was all over. She was bitter at the government more than anything, I just think she didn't want to identify with the government she now loathed." the dwarf answers.
"Interesting." Lord Darcio ponders the thought of this former mayor being bitter enough to lead bandits against this town. "Your contributions will come to good use master dwarf, and your equipment will be returned in mint condition, well maybe not the torches. Good day to you Sir." Lord Darcio then says and, unless there are other subjects to take up with the dwarf he meets the others outside to make final plans for entering the mineshaft.
"Well you are an upstanding citizen Yamblin, you will be the first to hear from us once we have returned. One more thing though. Who would be able to give us information on the mineshaft at the outskirts of your town?" Lord Darcio asks the jovial tortle as they are about to leave.
