Zal although early you are able to find someone who points you in the direction of the Lionshield Coster. As you enter you see weapons and armour lining the walls. As you enter a human woman in her mid 30s is sitting at the counter. She looks up as you enter and then goes back to going through some paperwork. You find a bundle of 20 arrows that costs 1 gold. You also find a set of studded leather for 45 gold. If you want any of this you can buy it if you choose.
(Skorli blessed your bow at breakfast, so you are good for the day)
(Yeah, I lost track of what happened when…. lol. As far as the gear goes, Zal buys the bundle of arrows, does an even trade of his chain shirt for studded leather with the request that she hang on to the shirt for a week before putting it up for sale as held like a chance to buy it back at full price (50gp) once the dragon is dealt with.)
"Phivers, I like it Skorli." Aelyn says smiling as he joins the dwarf, patting him on the back, as they head out for the dwarven ruins. "The note said something about this being an archaeological dig. Should be interesting, right Joslyn?" He says as the young woman joins them. "I can really recommend these by the way." Aelyn points to his floral crown. "Beautiful right?"He stops briefly and sniffs. "And they have a lovely fragrance." He says to Brikabrak smiling.
The journey to the ruins is uneventful. You walk for 5 hours talking to your new allies along the way. Near the end of your journey you enter a canyon marked on your map. The canyon's rocky walls rise to a height of eighty feet. At the end of the canyon, a twenty-foot-high wall of black stone has a broken gate carved into it, with one stone door hanging precariously by a hinge and the other door missing. Beyond this open gate, in the shadow of a great mountain to the east, lies a ruined settlement. All is quiet.
"Looks deserted." Aelyn says to the others sounding a bit uneasy at the sight of the ruins. "I hope they haven´t already had a visit from that dragon." He adds and looks to the skies. He scans the area for threats, particularly huge hungry dragons: Perception: 8 If all seems safe for now he shouts. "Anyone here?"
A cry of sorrow escaping his lips, Skorli approaches the wall and door of stone. Using his Stonecunning trait, he closely examines the architecture and the damage for any clues that can be gleaned from it. He peers through the gate, using darkvision if necessary, and if he cannot see movement calls out in Dwarvish, "My brothers! Can you hear me? Are you injured? We have come to your aid!" He will then utter a prayer to Selune, and cast light on his shield, and then taking his hammer and shield in hand, enter the gate, if no foes are evident.
Looking into the cave, all characters with Darkvision can see what appears to be a ruined dwarvish settlement built into the canyon. Far into the settlement, you see light flickering and two dwarf-sized figures moving around in the torchlight. They reply to you in Common, "Who goes there".
Brikabrak yells into the cave at the Dwarves, "We're the Phive Phandalin... Phriends... I think? Wait there was a Phantastic in there too..." He pauses a moment "Hey, did you guys know there's a dragon around?!"
You see two dwarves approaching you from the light bringing their torches with them. "No, we haven't heard of a dragon in the area, Dazlyn Grayshard, and Norbus Ironrune", one of them says as he shakes your hand. "We understand you were probably sent to bring us back to town but I am afraid we are going to have to decline. To make your trip, not a complete waste we have a monster living further into the ruins that needs to be exterminated. We have managed to keep at bay but I will be willing to give you these", he holds up 2 face-shaped stones, "if you can defeat it. What do you say?".
Skorli greets the dwarves warmly in their language, and then switches to Common out of politeness for the lesser races. "What? A dragon dinna alarm ye, but some monster in ta' ruins is beyond yer powers? That's passin' strange, mates. What sort o' monster be ye wanting removed?"
He will then examine the face-shaped stones. "And what might these lovelies be, brothers?"
The dwarves look at Skorli, "we don't know for sure, it was a strange yellow sludge that attacked us from the roof. It was too slow to get to us so we could avoid it. We tried to hit it with an ax and it split in two! Do you reckon you could do this favor for us?".
"I'm sure we can offer assistance, mates, but first, I repeats me questions: Why ain't ye afraid of the dragon? And what purpose serve these here stones?" queries the dwarf.

"I think it was phabulous, but I like phantastic too." Aelyn says to Brikabrak as he approaches the dwarves. "Aelyn Moonsong at your service." He says as he shakes the hands of the two dwarves, bowing slightly. "We will take care of your monster problem for you." Knowledge checks Yellow sludge:6 Stones:5 "We should be able to take care of that sludge if we just keep our eyes peeled for it to prevent it from getting a drop on us." He says smiling at his own joke. "I have a torch for you Zal, if you want one." Aelyn says to the half-elf.
(OOC: Suggested marching order if we will use a torch for Joslyn to be able to see in there. (Aelyn can carry it.) Skorli, Joslyn, Zal, Aelyn, Brikabrak. Other suggestions?)

“I was just thinking if the sludge just divides up when hit with blades, fire might be a better way to deal with it. And if that’s the case we’ll probably want more than just the torches people brought along.”

Skorli laughs at Aelyn, and says in Common, "You have more than a little of the bard in you, friend".
Then he calls out loudly, "Hide the women! Aelyn's back in town!"
Brikabrak will make a crown of local flowers for everyone who wants one. He's also ready to head to the excavation when everyone else is.
"No, wait, not the women, who should I serenade then? You perhaps Skorli?" He smiles to the dwarf as they start out their trek to the dwarven ruins.
