The realization that they're floating in a demiplane is shocking. Ragnar begins to feel even more uncomfortable in the closed-in room, but he doesn't let it show. He points to the indentation in the floor.
"Try all of the gems. It may work."

"First time huh?" Avarice says as he turns to Mulligan, an eerie giggling coming from his right shoulder. "I guess it must be hard for someone like you to be rejected." He says with with a wry smile emphasis on the last word. "Perhaps you will find the time then to help with searching for a way out of here."
As he studies the gems trying to determine if any of them would fit the indentation, the craving comes over him again. He must possess them, he must feed them to the black hole soon. He knows he must try to resist these temptations, these sins, while here, but how will he be able to do now what he hasn´t ever been able to do before.
"It's a way of... errr, it's mean to convey... See, it's like a secret sig..." Mulligan starts and stops, flustered. "You really don't know what a wink means? How in the world did I ever get lumped in with this lot?!?"
Mulligan steps away for a moment and sighs. "Not that you're not all very lovely people, mind you. Cream of the crop, A plus all the way... I couldn't think of a more delightful group to be stuck with in a eternal jail somewhere in the great nowhere..."

"Isn´t it obvious?" Avarice says to Keyleth. "You are the only woman here, as far as I can tell, and his kind thrives in the company of women, making them do his bidding and breaking their hearts as he leaves them the next morning. But you seem immune to his charm, good for you." He says with a growing respect for Keyleth.
Ragnar groans. He had theorized that the reason the entity had chosen them was because of their great renown and power. Mulligan seemed determined to prove that wrong, as his conversation with Keyleth seemed more appropriate between adolescent schoolchildren.
He steps in and tries taking Mulligan to the side to spare any further embarassment.
"Mulligan, you and I are the only humans here. We should stay together if it gets too dark for us to see."
Pointing to the rapier on his hip, "Tell me, have you killed a man with that before? Or is it only for show?"

"No, no, no... Seems nobody knows what a wink means. My apologies, Keyleth, I by no means meant for you to feel uncomfortable. The wink merely was meant to indicate we were both in on a joke. Alas, seems I am the only one who even knew there was one," Mulligan explains, and gives a bit of an apologetic half bow. "As for what is obvious, that this is not the proper setting for a romantic interlude should be near the top of the list."
Turning to Ragnar, Mulligan puts on a bit of a skeptical look. With a small tilt of his head, one of three Dancing Lights comes over and does lazy circles above Mulligan's head. "I'm not afraid of the dark..."
"Oh this?" Mulligan says, as the conversation turns to his rapier. He moves his hand to rest it comfortably upon the hilt... and accidentally drops the sword from his belt entirely, having it fall and clatter upon the stone floor.
Mulligan laughs again, this time in a forced and nervous manner. He scrambles to bend and pick up the blade but only ends up dropping it again before finally recouping his weapon. "Killed a man? With a sword?" Mulligan finally manages to answer. "It's much easier to just run away, isn't it? And safer to?"

Wulgar is listening as he's breaking up stones, looking for more gems. "Hah. Right. I like to give 'em a good wink as I shove troublemakers overboard. "Grow some gills, fast now!" and I give 'em a wink. Really causes 'em to piss their britches." He keeps tossing rocks as he is talking, intermittently walking them over to the indentation in the floor, seeing if they fit (not inserting, but measuring). He also eyes the globe floating in the room, to see if it would fit.

Quietly, to Ragnar, "Oh there was no offense. I quite enjoy considering the question... as a hypothetical. I simply wanted to make you aware that learning how many ways there are to kill you and how easy it could be... that knowledge is likely to do little but bring you grief." As he continues to look up at the driftglobe, "But as I offered... ask me again later if you still wish to hear my answer."

Wulgar stacks the gems found after breaking the rocks against the indentation in the ground then looks up at Varan. “Should we insert them and see what happens? I’m ready to get out of this little room.” He stands and walks over to one of the walls and pushes it, testing. Specifically where the rocks were stacked, feeling for any weakness.
Pressing each of the four gems into the indentation - a ruby, emerald, an amethyst, and a sapphire - one by one, they are placed inside the socket and removed - fitting inside with a nice, snug, snick.
Once you do so, the driftglobe suddenly flashes a bright color in reaction to the certain gem placed within; scarlet red for the ruby that matches Wulgar's scales, jade-green, almost sickening light, deep purple shimmering with arcane glow, then an aquamarine blue bathing the area in a subtle, blue glow.
Varan and the magically-inclined Avarice both ascertain an aura of strong magic appearing around the driftglobe in correspondence to the gem. Both come to the conclusion it must be touched in order for something to happen.

Arcana with help from Vorax to try to determine if touching it would be harmful:16 Unless it seems like a really bad idea Avarice then places his right hand on the driftglob waiting for any effects.
"If you're intent on making yourself a test subject, I suggest you try the amethyst first. Its color... seems to suit you," Varan suggests. He is fascinated by the emerald... though the sickly green light practically screams 'poison trap' to his mind. He could endure such a thing easily, of course... but it would not do to have half of his new allies dropping dead before they even get started trying to escape.

"Perhaps one might consider doing things one step at a time?" Mulligan offers up from the far wall from where the drift globe currently is. "If the thing is changing color with each gem, and one is of a mind to go poking it... Perhaps try it with just one stone placed first?"

Mulligan shrugs nonchalantly and smiles at Avarice. Reaching into his backpack he pulls out an apple and bites into it loudly.
While biting into the apple across the room and seemingly not paying attention to anything but its deliciousness, Mulligan attempts to telekinetically shove Avarice into the driftglobe once there is any of the gems placed inside the socket, via the Telekinetic feat. I believe that'll be a DC 18 Strength save or be shoved...
As a bonus action, you can try to telekinetically shove one creature you can see within 30 feet of you. When you do so, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + the ability modifier of the score increased by this feat) or be moved 5 feet toward you or away from you. A creature can willingly fail this save.
Deception: 32
Not sure a Deception check needed as Telekinetic has no visible component but there's one just in case.
