This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(once they find a suitable place outside of town) Wolhana looks for a sturdy tree to practice his Katas and condition his fists against for 118 minutes. Afterward he is ready for sleep. It's been a long day.
You all make camp under the branches of a great elm near the north gate of Eastwick... You made it out just before the guards locked down the gates for the night. You may all take a long rest.
Kugan wakes up and stretching to awaken his body "Well" He answers with a big yawn of his own "Not bad and apparently, no one came after us, and that's good but, we couldn't leave nothing to chance...anyway, I will proceed to our destination if everyone agrees..."
You awake under a dark, cloudy sky. Strong winds buffet your group as you consider the events of the past night. Eastwick lies quiet still in the dulled morning light, as snow starts fluttering from above, and a loud rumbling begins in the distance (thunder).
Whether you investigate what happened the previous day, or continue on your way, is up to you. You have 50 days remaining before the first day of the month of Starbud, the day you are due to have reached your target destination.
"I just get worried that, with the worst weather coming, we will found more difficulties along our journey to the North, and we are at only 1/3 of the journey. As far as I know, the undeads were some mercenaries, as we are in the end, and someone, shove them against us in the alley, whatever it is, I believed it something concerning this call for the Duskport keep, and or, targets the wannabe bounty hunters, so....I believed since the threat is for us and not for this community, we should keep moving, and keep eyes open...
((With that said and if there are no objections, Kugan will lead the trio outside the city, heading North to their final destination)
You made your way up from Eastwick, leaving the mystery of the zombies for another day, another time. As you progress north, the cold slowly gets colder, and the warmth of the sun lessens. You cross a swampland, thick with snow and frozen over, without much effort; the main trail is solid in this cold season and easy to follow. After a dozen days, you make it out of the swamp to see vast snowy plains stretch ahead, a city in the distance marked from afar by a towering construct you cannot yet make out. It takes another two days to get there, on the dawn of the 27th of Emberfall.
You approach Dewspire, your destination, from the South Bazaar, the main road into the city from this side. The road outside the city proper is lined on both sides by colorful tents, pavilions and stalls, even in this cold season. Reds, yellows, greens and blues fight for attention, their dispute made only more vibrant by the contrast against the muddy and snowy road. Smells of all sorts assail your senses, meats, perfumes and leather tanning (quite a smelly business) chief among them.
In the distance, beyond the city walls, you can make out a tall tower-like building, much taller than any other you have ever seen, it's top spiraling several hundred meters above-ground. Lower, ringing the tower, are two disc-plate like construct of massive scale, held aloft over the city by pillars, and shaped like crescent moons. More buildings adorn their slightly sloped surfaces, effectively making them a city above the city, or a second level of the same. Quite the spectacular sight, and undoubtedly a genius feat of architecture.
...as you arrive, you take a moment to review the date, and the reason you came here. It is a few days until the month of Cloverclaw, and you have come here to enlist in the effort to retake Cragkeep, which is due to begin the month after. You realize you have a month to spend before that time comes. ((You can explore the city, and its surroundings, finding things to do. You also have the option to take this time as downtime if you would prefer, and move on to the quest to reclaim Cragkeep. Or maybe something else.))
Kugan huffs in relief as the small group enters the city "All right then...we did it, friends, I was afraid the cold and the snow would have lessened more our pace but, apparently, we got lucky".
Wondering about the South Bazaar, the tempting smell of smoked meat and seasoned food make his gut humming in hunger, the travel rations, and the casual game of the previous days...make it all seems delicious.
The impressive sight of the massif tower leaves him always surprise and fascinated.
"Well...what do we want do you in this time? I think I have to fill up my pouch eheh, cause is getting airy"
((I would like to try this Downtime mechanic, what are the options?))
Wolhana, you easily find a park to meditate in; the inside of the city walls are lined with open grassy areas. In fact, it seems as though the city itself keeps the winter at bay, and the air is slightly warmer. You can easily find a patch of grass, or a bench, to meditate. You may also find a stone appropriate to sit on if you look a bit harder.
((I will make a second post with some additional guidance regarding downtime; in the meantime, please refer to the options in the PhB ; these are all valid options))
Illia looks towards Kugan, "I believe we should get some rest, relax a bit before we go on to Cragkeep?" She suggests.
Kugan Silveredge
"Yeah, why not, sounds good, we have plenty of time than before going to enlist for the mission so...rest, and maybe gather some chips to keep the relax going what do you think?" The Beastkin winks to his companion and starts asking for a relatively modest but fine Inn in the city....
((Practicing a profession could be an option for the downtime, maybe a Bouncer? I will wait for the additional options you mentioned by the way))
Crafting: which you probably don't have the coin or materials for so far... or maybe not even the proficiency.
Working: Anyone can do this. You get bonus income if you have a particular skillset (proficiency) and put it to use. (i.e. Performance.) You may also make bonus income if you are part of a guild or organization.
In town:
Regular income:1 gp per day.
Organization/Guild job:2 gp per day.
Performance Skill Proficiency:4 gp per day.
Downtime spent in the wild:No job, but foraging for oneself.
Regular: No income,Poor lifestyle.
Survival Skill Proficiency: No income, Comfortable Lifestyle.
Recovering: This doesn't apply as no one is ill or grievously injured... to my knowledge.
Researching: Research on a topic. PhB gives examples related to quests and story, but it can be anything you want to research really. Does not generate income, will need to spend lifestyle expenses each day of research.
Training: Self-descriptive.
Additional options I provide, aside from variants of the above, are:
Socializing: Technically this falls under working, but is dependent on the lifestyle you choose for your downtime. Refer to the lifestyle descriptions in the PhB. Basically you have a chance (rolled on dice by the DM) to make contacts in the social sphere that is related to your lifestyle cost. The more time spent, the higher the odds. You may befriend influential nobles, merchants, or if of lighter purse, maybe a fence or a contact within the thieves guild.
Enlisting: This one is similar to socializing, but is active rather than passive, and relates to group rather than individuals. You try to enlist in an organization or guild, and seek them out. You may decide to work in the meantime or to focus your energy on enlisting. If you are interested in this option, please discuss it with me so we can talk which organizations are available in the area; some organizations have little to no presence in some areas of the world. (i.e. The Holy Church of Llunae is mainly in the elven territory, and is generally biased against non-elven).

Wolhana awakens refreshed. and begins to paxk away his things.
Illia sits up after she wakes up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes she glances around at her two comrades. She yawns slightly, "How did everyone rest?"

((For Kugan I confirm the Bouncer job, maybe in the same Inn we stay, and perhaps interesting tavern brawl will show up :P))
((For Illia, I will do socializing and working. possibly as a waitress to a tavern))
