Oriki, seeing both Constantin being dragged away, reacts to the attack by the ghoul, whipping his rapier across its throat...
Rapier Attack: 6 Damage: 9
... before disengaging and rushing to Constantin's aid. Sprinting nimbly around the edge of the deck, he positions himself in between the pack leader and the incoming vessel, bringing his rapier across in a viscious slash across its stomach
The dagger misses the undead creature who will make an attack of opportunity against Oriki as he sprints across the deck and plunges his rapier into the pack leaders side
Moving off to the side to take better aim, Sheridan fires off a dusky blast of eldritch energy at the previously shocked attacker, repelling it 10 ft away from the point of impact with his will
The pack leader lets go of Constantin and hisses a retreat disengaging from the melee and jumping overboard. Constantin falls unceremoniously to the floor. The remaining pirate lumbers for the side and flops overboard, several loud splashes sound around the vessel. Constantin Con Save 18
Thanks for saving my bacon. I didn’t fancy being anyone’s meal. Constantin groans as he shakes off the paralytic and gets to his feet. In the murk you see the silhouette of the pirate ship start to recede. Looks like we’ve driven Them off too. Good work. Captain Creole staggers across the deck towards you, you can see he has cuts on his forearms and seems to be lightly wounded. Bad news I’m afraid. Another pack of those undead buggers came at us from the rear of the ship. Got into engineering and the cargo hold. Made off with most of the engineering crew and half of the shipment. We can only go at half speed but we need to follow that ship
We can tail them for as long as it takes but with my engineering team down to half we won’t be gaining on them until they drop anchor or reach port. I’d patch your wounds and get some rest as you’ll be my landing party. Get me crew back and get the cargo. If that ain’t possible then get me some vengeance.
Creole leaves you to rest and bellows orders to the remaining crew to give chase. Unlike chasing down a hare or a humanoid bounty naval chases are a stately affair, the pursuit slipping into hours as the night wears on.
Eventually the fog parts and you can see the pirate vessel outlined against the moon. It cuts a ragged silhouette with tears in the mainsail and perversely its sailing against the wind. On the horizon you see an archipelago raising up from the sea, faint lights twinkling away, hinting at a town or harbour.
Sheridan you recognise this archipelago. You don’t know why or how but you do. This is Wreckers Isle, a hundred years ago it was a Freeport, Rex had no interest in it and as such it became a haven for pirates and ne’er-do-wells of all stripes, but it was supposed to have been abandoned when the pirates and brigands warred amongst themselves. You have no idea who is occupying it now or why this undead pirate ship is heading there
Ahead of you the pirate vessel weighs anchor at a rickety pier and you can see figures moving about unloading crates and dragging others away from the hold and into the town. Creole keeps the Devils Queen moving past the cove and out of sight of town. Alright lads this is as close as I can get us with receiving broadsides from that pirate galley And any other defences set up in that safe harbour they got. You four will take a rowboat from here a d try to infiltrate the town. If you can scupper that vessel and the defences and I’ll be able to get closer for a pick up of any crew and the cargo you rescue. Any questions?

The stench is ineffective in putting either off.

The shocked pirate rag dolls sidewards with the blast of energy. The necrotic energy powering its movement snuffed out by the Eldritch blast

Agreed. We cannot leave them to that fate.
How does your ship move? Perhaps we can be of some assistance?

If there is nothing we can do to help speed our progress, I will rest and compose myself for the fight.
Sheridan sits at the prow looking out to sea.

Oriki listens as Sheridan relays what he knows. On hearing it's full of pirates and brigands, a broad smile breaks out across his face.
Ne'er-do-wells, eh? They sound like my kind of people...
With a nod, he wanders below to rest.
